Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera going off

depo-provera

Avatar f tn If you came off of the depo provera , theres no side effects when you come off of it but you may get your period back. I went off of the depo provera for 3 yrs ago and it took another 3 yrs. to get pregnant.
Avatar n tn I have been off depo-provera for about a year now, I had a regular 4 day period about 21 days ago, for the past few days I've had a little bleeding, dark brown, definetly not regular period flow. Could this be implantation bleeding? Or is my body still just out of whack from the depo.
Avatar n tn How long we're u on depo? I was on it for nearly 12 years & it's taken me 2years for my periods to get back to normal.
Avatar f tn Hi I stopped using depo provera in November 2013. I was told it's takes about a month to leave your system. But nothing returns to normal straight away. My period didn't return until may and they were shorter in cycle length. But I've read an awful lot about the depo shots and lots of peoples body's react differently. Most take 6-12 months to return to normal, some goin as far as 18 months.
Avatar f tn I have been on the Depo Provera shot for more than 5 years now. I read that the recommended amount of time that a young woman should be on Depo is only 2 years. I am 20 now and I have been on it since I was 15. I have tried to come off of it once. I bled for about 3 weeks and then got back on it. Currently I have all kinds of pain. Back, kness, neck, arms, and I have migraines. I read about a calcium deficiency when doing research about Depo Provera.
505857 tn?1329681517 I was on depo for 3 yrs, and luckily got AF the first month off depo. Personally, I believe if you are having regular periods, you need to buy some ovulation predictor tests, and see if your even ovulating. They're pretty expensive but you get alot of them, just test each day....etc. what the directions say on the box. That way you'll know if it's because your not ovulating... or whatnot.
3113005 tn?1341773834 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
Avatar n tn Hello, Irregular bleeding like you describe is a common side effect of Depo Provera. Your girlfriend should have been counseled about this possibility when initiated on the medication. If she has any questions/concerns she should see the provider who is prescribing the medication. Best regards, Dr.
494555 tn?1228504371 hi every1 im new on here and i really need ur help.
Avatar f tn t think you could be preg. Depo is very very affective, but if u do want to get preg then u should get off depo cause it messes u up. I was on depo for a year and a couple of months and I didn't get my period at all and now I. Off depo ad still haven't gotten my period. Me and my boy friend are TTC but I don't think I can cause I haven't had a period.
Avatar f tn The period usually returns after stopping the shots, however, it can take 3 months to a year for the effects of Depo-Provera to wear off and fertility to return.
Avatar n tn Is depo-provera linked with infertility! I am a 24 and at the age of 20, I had 2 injections of depo-provera. Ever since, my period could me counted as almost none except when I am extreamely stress wich happen only 2 times. Other than that, nothing. I had a physical, inner & outer ultrasound & blood word and everthing was A1. So my doctor thinks I might be infertile. Before taking depo-provera, my periods were normal.
983134 tn?1248699243 i agree with gillianl depo is evil, i have been off depo for a year and it made me really ill and i only had two shots not even a full course. my knees are crumbled and my period pains are so bad i have to stay in bed and they come when they feel like it.
Avatar n tn I'm 19 and ive been on the depo provera shot for about 3 weeks and my period pains are excruciating and i have had it for about 2 weeks now. whats going on!
1978422 tn?1326152277 I started on depo provera shots for the second time when my third child was born in 2008. My last shot was In January of 2011. I'm trying to conceive but I've only spotted twice since stopping the shots. Once in October and once in December. Do you have any advice?
327405 tn?1223239755 My OBGYN prescribed me Prometrium - a progesterone supplement because he said I wasn't ovulating and this would help. He said if this didn't work then he would put me on birth control for 2 months because that would help also. Well the Prometrium (I took for 12 nights in a row) ended up working and I got pregnant with the ovulation that occured right after taking the Prometrium. I don't know what provera is (depo?), but you might want to ask him about that.
746098 tn?1232912961 If you are taking depo-provera i would seriously recommend you stop using this asap. I had the same symptoms as yourself and was diagnosed with depression, i wasn't depressed it was the side effects of the depo -provera. Also if you do ever plan on having kids it could take up to years after coming off of this pill for your body to regulate. I regret ever taking this for of contraception as my body is still completely messed up. Hope this helps!!
Avatar n tn I'm 22 yrs old and was taking Provera to regulate my cycle. I was on Depo on and off for 6 years and have been off it for 20 months straight now. I used an AH ovulation kit and was not ovulating so the doc recommended Provera and Chlomid. I've been off Provera for 3 weeks waiting to start Chlomid, but I still haven't gotten my period. I just took an HPT at it was negative. Could I be pregnant even with that HPT negative? My nurse seemed concerned that it wasn't a blood test...
Avatar f tn If you were using Depo-Provera it may take longer for your cycles to return to normal. Keep in mind that Depo-Provera is designed to be a long-lasting form of birth control. Even though it is intended to help you avoid pregnancy for up to three months, it may actually prevent pregnancy longer. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone similar to progesterone.
Avatar f tn H If you were my patient, i would advise you that the depo provera injection can be an excellent method of birth control. It is 99% effective and requires only that the patient have 4 injections per year. It is important to take a calcium supplement while using depo provera. Weight gain is probably the worst side effect. Hope this helps!
384896 tn?1335294331 not sure about the breast feeding part but a lot of women on this site might agree with me to stay clear of depo-provera. I was on this bc for 2 and a half years and have been ttc for the same length of time with no joy. I was diagnosed with depression at 16 years old when i was on this, i asked the doc if that was the problem and was told no, when the depo eventually cleared from my system so did the depression my family say i was a new person.
Avatar f tn Im 28 and have never been pregnant slightly overweight but not too concerred and getting it back down periods were always regular and pain free went on for birth control, my husband has 1 child already and decided to start are own family.
