depo-provera

Avatar f tn i have tried everything, from lupron, to laparoscopies, to yaz, to smoking marijuana - currently i am on Depo Provera and have been for the past year and a half. I am noticing a lot of side affects from this as time goes on, and unfortunately for me this has been the only thing that even remotely helps, and i still have a lot of pain.

Avatar f tn I have had the exact treatment for endo and i am 28 yrs old. I had the surgery 13 months ago followed by depo shots for 6 months. I am booked in for the 12th of May for another surgery to go in and see how its worked as i hadnt fallen pregnant on Clomid in the last 4 months. I only experienced hot flushes while on the depo shots and felt ok. After i finnished the shots i became regular in ovulating where prior i would only ovulate every other month. Good luck and let me know how yours goes.
Avatar f tn Hi, Further to my previous post -fyi-endometric chocolate cyst removed in Nov 2008, given depo provera one a month for 3 months (dec08, jan09, feb09). It took a while for my periods to return, I got it June09 and July09 but not after that. So my dr in order induce periods put me on Meprate (medoxyprogesterone) from 9thSep to 16th Sep (7 days) ,two pills a day.
Avatar f tn You might want to check into Depo-Provera then. It worked for me. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn So I started the depo and I had a period for 2 months one HUGE migraine for 3 days and the everything stopped, Well I have given birth to 2 kids and I wasn't on the depo after the first so this is new to me. Is it normal to be bleeding after 4 months? It's not a heavy flow its flow medium for a couple days then it's spotting every now and then.
505857 tn?1329681517 Did you get the depo lupron or the depo provera shot? The lupron is used for management of endometriosis and pain along with the hopes to reduce endometriotic lesions. The depo provera is a birth control shot. How long ago has it been since stopping the depo provera shots? Sometimes women's fertility returns right away and others it can take 6-18 months. Did you mention this to your dr and let them know how long ago it has been since stopping the depo provera shots?
Avatar n tn I was on depo provera for years without incident. It worked very well for me to control my endometriosis. It is risky to get that injection since it lasts in your body for 3 months should someone have issues such as your daughters. I am sorry she had to go thru this but glad to hear she is recovering and finally home.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, I have never turned to a forum of any kind for any reason before but I am now because I don't feel like I can really talk to anyone in my personal life about what I'm dealing with every day & have them actually understand. I am 22 years old. I have had 4 laproscopy's in the past 4 years (the last one being a week ago today) & 3 DNC's (along with the past 3 surgeries - not this most recent surgery) to clean out the endometriosis & everything.
Avatar f tn I will be on my period for about a week and a half then stop for a couple days and start again. I was on the Depo Provera Shot and I was suppose to get it re-newed on the first on June. I also dont drink nearly enough water as I should be so I was wondering If that could be the reason why this is happening or could it be because I didn't re-new my birth control so my body is changing?
Avatar f tn I did not notice such problems and Lupron worked short term for me. However longer term I was on Depo-Provera. It work fine. I do believe that I did gain weight, but that could just be I was feeling better. I am currently not on anything, and I highly do not suggest that. I was afraid of being on the depo for 11 years may have some negative effects on my ability to have children someday. Good luck with everything!
Avatar n tn depo-provera usually will make the periods stop after a few months on it. till then it just gets lighter and lighter.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy 2 years. ago at the age of 21. I have the Depo Provera hormone shot a week ago. My whole body has been hurting.and I asked to not get it again.has this happened to anyone else.I have never had pain this bad. my endi is worse than before the surgery.what should I do.I have to have hormones I'm only 24.
Avatar f tn He told me that he was going to try the Depo Provera shot, because that would be a more effective pain reducer and would help the endo from not coming back. I took the shot in the middle of December 2013, and started bleeding the beginning of January. I was not due to take the next shot until March, but I was still bleeding in February consistently. I called the doctor again and said that I was still bleeding, and they told me that I could either come and take the 2nd shot early or wait it out.
Avatar f tn Hello. I seem to have all of the symptoms of endometriosis: bleeding slat the end of/after sex, debilitating menstrual cramps, pelvic pain, major lower back pain (where my butt meets my back), and my IBS symptoms seem to have worsened. The weird thing is I haven't gotten a period in about 5-6 years because I've been on the depo provera shot. I also have never had spotting or even cramps once during this time.
Avatar f tn I was hoping to seek advice/answers regarding long-term treatment methods for endometriosis. I was diagnosed with endometriosis at 19, I am now 32. Since my diagnosis, I have undergone 2 laparoscopic procedures, one at 19 and one at 24. I was also prescribed the Depo-Provera shot, which I was on for a little over 10 years.
Avatar f tn Ive tried different types of birth control pills for years and the depo provera shot for a 1 1/2 years after having my son. The pain is still there. Sometimes its just an annoying burning pain thats just distracting but other times its so bad I dont want to move. I had the pain before and after my one pregnancy. Im curious on what this might be ? could it just by cyst ? could it be endometriosis? Thank you for your time !
Avatar n tn and being doubled over in so much pain. See you ob/gyn and discuss your options. For me, I went on the depo-provera shot for 3 years. Had no menstruation. When I went off the shot, my periods were shorter and with nearly no pain anymore. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn He immediately put me on Depo Provera and I remained on that for close to a year then I switched over to a seasonal birth control. I got my period once every 3 months. Recently, with in the last 3-4 months, I opted to go off of birth control and hopefully manage my symptoms with Naproxen. I get relatively bad cramps and lower back pain around my period and I have had some occurrences of pain during intercourse if I am close to my period.
Avatar f tn So, I was given the Depo Provera shot. I was told again that my symptoms should lessen in a few weeks. I went back in around Thanksgiving because I was still having pain and now I was getting strong abdominal cramping as well. I was sent to my regular physician to get an MRI and rule out other things. Everything came back negative. Then I wound up in the ER over Christmas break because my abdominal cramping was so strong I was doubling over in pain.
1581545 tn?1296515741 s that I had severe endometriosis with adhesions and blockage in my tubes. After all had been cleared the doctors gave me a shot of depo lupron to reduce the endometriosis after the first surgery to remove all adhesions and the endo came back. It was supposed to last 3 months however I never came out of it and my body went into a chemical induced menopause and I had horrible hot flashes, wanted sex all of the time, moody but wasn't pregnant.
Avatar n tn I would like to say that my doctor actually went to a seminar regarding depo and calcium loss and their is no substantial evidence that state this is true. I've been on depo for nearly 10 years straight with no calcium loss. I actually quit depo because of that rumor, and I gravely regret that. After visiting my doctor, he found this seminar and went just to learn more about my inquiry of the long term effects.
Avatar f tn Depo Provera { Started 5/20/2010, Last Shot 2/9/2012 } Before I started getting the Depo Provera Injections I always had a normal, slightly heavy period. Minimal cramping. After taking Depo Provera for 1 year I finally lost my periods.
Avatar f tn One thing, my dr put me on Depo Provera injections after the surgery ( one shot a month for three months)- PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT!!!! All the problems I have now like liver issues, skin issues, irregular periods, anovulation are ALL because of those shots. Believe there are other meds to stop endo cysts from re-occuring, not sure of the names but you be sure not to take this one!!! Even if dr talks of just one shot DO NOT go for it...
Avatar n tn What is the best way to do this? Everyone talks about the Depo Provera, but what is the side effects and would this by any chance bring problems in the near future when we want to concieve a baby?
Avatar f tn If you were using Depo-Provera it may take longer for your cycles to return to normal. Keep in mind that Depo-Provera is designed to be a long-lasting form of birth control. Even though it is intended to help you avoid pregnancy for up to three months, it may actually prevent pregnancy longer. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone similar to progesterone.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed late last year having 4cm endemetriosis. The ob gyne gave me DEPO PROVERA twice a month or every 2weeks. Since then i started gaining weight. After 2 months i transferred to a differrent doctor and she gave me lupron this time, once a month shot. For 2 months only. My last shot was last April and its been already 5months and i still continue to gain weight. My question is, 1.) how long is the effect of my last shot of lupron last April (of this year)? 2.
Avatar f tn I was on Femara for 3 months for endometriosis. 2 weeks into treatment I also started having intense constant chest pains amongst other terrible side effects. I've been off the Femara for about 1 1/2 years and still have chest pains and other lingering side effects that my doctors can't explain.
