Avatar f tn Quick question... which Depo are you on? There are two kinds, that I'm aware of: Depo Provera or Depo Lupron. I had tried the Provera when I was about 16 for about a year. I had to stop because I could not handle the side effects any longer. I did spot for about 3 months. It usually takes a few months for your system to get used to it. The Lupron stops your period completely and basically puts your body into menopause, which is the one I am currently on.

Avatar n tn What are the side effects of depo provera?
Avatar f tn H If you were my patient, i would advise you that the depo provera injection can be an excellent method of birth control. It is 99% effective and requires only that the patient have 4 injections per year. It is important to take a calcium supplement while using depo provera. Weight gain is probably the worst side effect. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Breakthrough bleeding and really long periods are common side effects on depo provera. It's actually one of the reasons most women stop using it. Unfortunately, because it's an injectible birth control method, there isn't much you or your doctor can do if you are having unpleasant side effects. You just have to wait for the 3 months to be over and your body to either adjust to it, or to see if it just won't work for you.

Avatar n tn How effective is the depo provera birth control shot? ( Is it 'ok' to do it without a condom every once in a while, WITHOUT him going inside me?
Avatar f tn The only minor side effects I did have was mild cramping after the shot, and headaches. Although once I got off depo that was different. My hair started to fall out, I gained weight, headaches were worse and so on. This pregnancy happened 2 months after being off birth control completely, and while hubby had a vesectomy. So the only real birth control i think is no sex.....which is damn near impossibale lol.
Avatar n tn My girlfriend started using the depo-provera shot about a month ago. We abstained from sex for a week after the injection just to be safe. Two weeks after the injection we had to make a visit to her family practice doctor because we had a hunch that she had a bladder infection. We were right. The doctor prescribed her to take 250 mg of Ciprofloxacin twice daily and of course Phenazopyridine for the pain.
Avatar f tn This early on, and because you stopped taking it promptly, your little one will be just fine! I know someone who was on Depo Provera for 8 months before she even found out she was pregnant (she went into labor and had no idea she was pregnant). The only issue was a low birthweight baby (he was a tiny thing). But that was after taking it throughout her entire pregnancy, unknowingly. A little over a week of it won't do anything. Congrats!
Avatar n tn What is the best way to do this? Everyone talks about the Depo Provera, but what is the side effects and would this by any chance bring problems in the near future when we want to concieve a baby?
Avatar m tn I have read what feels like hundreds of stories about the Depo shot and how people have bleed all year with it, or have some of the side effects that the FDA said are pretty uncommon? I am 33 yrs old not children and don't plan on having any. I wanted to use the Depo as a form of birth control so that my boyfriend and I don't have to worry about the possibility of getting pregnant. Is the depo shot as bad as people are saying it is? NEED HELP!!!
Avatar f tn Is is possible that my son (who is now 16) has Autism because of Depo Provera birth control shots I received? My other 2 children are fine as I wasn't using any birth control with them. I received 2 shots and wasn't aware that I got pregnant during this time.........Is there a connection?? Avatar f tn Hi I was wondering if anyone experienced negative side effects from the depo shot? Normal birth contrl pills make me extremely nauseous due to the estrogen, and I can't tolerate it. From my understanding depo does not contain estrogen?
Avatar n tn I have been on Depo Provera for 13 years. I have not had a period in probably 10 years or longer. I got the flu and started taking flu medicine and two days later all of the sudden - a period. I am freaking out. What would cause a sudden period after such a long absence? I want it to go away NOW. Did the flu medicine kill my depo shot?
Avatar n tn I was on the depo Provera for 5 yrs and I stopped about 4 yrs. ago and the effects of comming off the shot are you'll slowly get your period back, Headaches, and weight gain or decease. If you haven't started to spot and your nauseous, maybe you are pregnant. You may want to call your doctor and make an appointment. Keep on giving me any updates and good luck.
