Avatar f tn m outside the normal range of time after stopping Depo Provera to have gotten my periods back. Could Depo be causing these problems or does it sound like something else could be a problem?
Avatar m tn Hi there, Depo vera is injected every 12 weeks while the contraceptive has the power to prevent conception up to 14 weeks, the injections are usually given every 12 weeks to ensure that there is no gap in the effectiveness of the birth control between shots. If such a schedule is maintained, pregnancy while on Depo-Provera is extremely rare. Since your girlfriend was not on taking it regularly there might have been a period when she had sex while not on depo.
Avatar n tn I'm 19 and ive been on the depo provera shot for about 3 weeks and my period pains are excruciating and i have had it for about 2 weeks now. whats going on!
Avatar f tn I've been on the Depo Provera shot since the last summer of 09 and then after getting the shot I has my period for ten days and that was it.I spot here and there but very little.I think you should talk with you doctor to see whats going on and also that you should of check out the side effects before getting on the Depo Provera shot because Deop can cause Irregular, heavy, or no bleeding are common side effects of Depo Provera. After a year of use, many women stop having periods.
Avatar f tn is it possible to get pregnant if you were in depo provera shots monthly and then you missed the schedule shot?
Avatar n tn I'm 22 yrs old and was taking Provera to regulate my cycle. I was on Depo on and off for 6 years and have been off it for 20 months straight now. I used an AH ovulation kit and was not ovulating so the doc recommended Provera and Chlomid. I've been off Provera for 3 weeks waiting to start Chlomid, but I still haven't gotten my period. I just took an HPT at it was negative. Could I be pregnant even with that HPT negative? My nurse seemed concerned that it wasn't a blood test...
Avatar n tn I have yet to have a period 2 years after stopping Depo I was told that I would be able to start at anytime since the provera didnt work does that mean I may need more clomid that most?
494669 tn?1275362475 i was on the depo provera shot for 9 months, i have gone of it now for 3 months approx. i have missed 2 afs and i am getting some pain discomfort in lower part of stomach. i have tender breasts that hurt more when i take of my bra. i have no discharge, or any other symptons. i have an ingrown hair on my pubic hair line and i am unsure if this could be causing mu discomfort in my lower stomach. any advice would be appreciated. and i have been to the doctor.
Avatar f tn If you were using Depo-Provera it may take longer for your cycles to return to normal. Keep in mind that Depo-Provera is designed to be a long-lasting form of birth control. Even though it is intended to help you avoid pregnancy for up to three months, it may actually prevent pregnancy longer. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone similar to progesterone.
1891325 tn?1321122976 What you listed describes what I feel exactly. I used to be an incredibly happy, bubbly person, and these mood swings are killing me! I really like the convenience of not having to worry about taking a pill, it's not that I mind pills at all, but my schedule as a college student varies so much it's hard to find a time to take it consistently. If I had a steady schedule where I could take a pill every day at the same time, I would much rather do that than have an injection.
Avatar f tn Recently, Me and My Boyfriend had un-protected sex.. and afterwards i started bleeding. we haven't had sex in a week, what could time be a sign of.. I am on Depo Provera-the birth control shot?
3113005 tn?1341773834 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
Avatar f tn Irregular menstrual periods, or no periods at all Headaches Nervousness Depression Dizziness Acne Changes in appetite Weight gain Excessive growth of facial and body hair Hair loss Loss of bone mineral density Most of the side effects are not common. Change in the menstrual cycle is the most common side effect. You may experience irregular bleeding or spotting. After a year of use, about 50% of women will stop getting their periods. Their periods usually return when they discontinue the shots.
Avatar n tn Hello, Irregular bleeding like you describe is a common side effect of Depo Provera. Your girlfriend should have been counseled about this possibility when initiated on the medication. If she has any questions/concerns she should see the provider who is prescribing the medication. Best regards, Dr.
Avatar f tn I've been on depo provera for 15 years and my periods stopped right away. I'm 45 years old and just had a period that lasted 5 days. My question is whether or not depo provera is still working as my birth control choice? Is there a way to know if depo provera is no longer working and if I may get pregnant?
Avatar f tn Quick question... which Depo are you on? There are two kinds, that I'm aware of: Depo Provera or Depo Lupron. I had tried the Provera when I was about 16 for about a year. I had to stop because I could not handle the side effects any longer. I did spot for about 3 months. It usually takes a few months for your system to get used to it. The Lupron stops your period completely and basically puts your body into menopause, which is the one I am currently on.
Avatar f tn You had started with Depo provera shots in late June and have got prolonged bleeding since July. I assure you that there is no need to panic. Heavy and prolonged bleeding are common side effects of starting Depo shots and usually it takes 3 months for such menstrual irregularities to settle down.Depo shots are to be given every three months, so for the first shot this kind of menstrual irregularity can occur.

Avatar f tn i decided to not go on any other birth control for awhile. What are the side effects of coming off the Depo Provera and is it ok to not be on any birthcontrol at all for awhile??
Avatar f tn I have been on the Depo Provera shot for more than 5 years now. I read that the recommended amount of time that a young woman should be on Depo is only 2 years. I am 20 now and I have been on it since I was 15. I have tried to come off of it once. I bled for about 3 weeks and then got back on it. Currently I have all kinds of pain. Back, kness, neck, arms, and I have migraines. I read about a calcium deficiency when doing research about Depo Provera.
