Depo provera and yeast infections

Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera and yeast infections

depo-provera

Avatar n tn hello I have been diagnosed many times with yeast infections however they never seem to go away completely, In my relationship, we have a healthy sex life, however most recently (6 months to now) I can not preform because after 10 minutes into sex i have intense pain, it feels swollen, and burning sensation during and after. I have tried to use variety of lubrication, however, it makes it worse. I also have had pelvic screenings and their clean.
Avatar f tn As for the burning and itchy - sounds like another yeast infection, as bacteria and yeast often thrive in a warm moist environment, which is the case with an ongoing low grade discharge. I'd say pop along to your doctor or gynocologist and get it checked out.
Avatar m tn My mom and I were both on the depo shot at one point. Caused nothing but trouble. Nothing that severe, but I had my period but 7 months straight without a break and gained more than 30 pounds. I only got one shot. Ever since then, I've had repeated yeast infections and sometimes, I'll get pain inside my vagina. I'm 16 years old.
Avatar n tn but yeah I called my doctor and he denied it being the Depo Provera, said it is probably just a yeast infection and to take some monistat.... though when I get the depo shot I also had a pap which came back with no signs of a yeast infection only three days before i started having this problem... though I didn't think about the fact that I couldn have gotten one afterwards, because of the dryness and what not. What ever is going on it just has to go away.
Avatar f tn My diet is rediculously limited by the disease and with the infections I also have to watch a lot of food types in an attempt to starve out yeast. I had treated with Monistat and Canesten on a day by day basis for the first year of the chronic yeast occurances, by the second year they gradually rendered uselss. I was told by to doctors at the clinic that yeast can mutate to a strain that can withstand the antifungal used to treat it.
Avatar n tn has taken me off the Depo Shots and I was put on Birth Control Pills. The blood was very dark red and blood clots. I was given an altrsound was told nothing was wrong. Is this normal with the Depo Provera?
Avatar f tn I have been getting non stop UTI and Yeast Infections for the last 3 years, twice a year. @ yeast infections a year, and 2 UTIS a year. I recetly was taking a antibiotic for my UTI well those symptooms gt better and later I noticed constant itching and white thick yeast smelling discharge and now thy precibed me DIFLUCAN. I wanna know why does this keep happeing to me? I noticed the change when I started wearing tampons? can it be that, I also heard, I could be allergic to semen frm my dr.??
Avatar f tn I have a history of anxiety and depression. Is depo-provera a good choice or a bad choice for birth control? Thank you!
Avatar f tn Depending upon what your risk for blood clots is, you might be able to use depo-Provera to suppress the ovaries and the testosterone. A really great medication for excess testosterone is Spironolactone, but you must be on some kind of birth control to take it, as it can cause birth defects. It also sounds like you may need a workup for all those UTIs! After all those antibiotics, its no wonder that you have a yeast infection!
Avatar f tn Im 28 and have never been pregnant slightly overweight but not too concerred and getting it back down periods were always regular and pain free went on for birth control, my husband has 1 child already and decided to start are own family.
Avatar f tn Condoms not only offer additional protection against pregnancy, they also help prevent sexually transmitted infections. You or your partner can have an infection and not know it...and unknowingly pass it on.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am not sure of what type of antibiotic might affect other contraceptives like the pill, but I am pretty sure that she will be fine on the shot. I myself had the depo-provera shot about 10 years ago. I only had one shot and I didn't have a period until a whole year later. It actually took me over another year after my period returned before, I finally became pregnant. The depo-provera shot is extremely effective.
Avatar f tn s no way to tell for sure, but more and more proof is coming out that autism is NOT linked to vaccines, and because depo provera is an active hormone shot and not a vaccine, I highly doubt that it is the cause. Are your other children girls by any chance? Very often a family that has an autistic child only has 1 (almost always a boy), and the rest of the children are "normal". They are thinking more and more that it's a genetic mutation.
384896 tn?1335294331 not sure about the breast feeding part but a lot of women on this site might agree with me to stay clear of depo-provera. I was on this bc for 2 and a half years and have been ttc for the same length of time with no joy. I was diagnosed with depression at 16 years old when i was on this, i asked the doc if that was the problem and was told no, when the depo eventually cleared from my system so did the depression my family say i was a new person.
591071 tn?1218844457 I would go back and get another look and make sure it is yeast. Usually yeast does not smell. Bacteria infections smell bad.
Avatar f tn m outside the normal range of time after stopping Depo Provera to have gotten my periods back. Could Depo be causing these problems or does it sound like something else could be a problem?
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, I have never turned to a forum of any kind for any reason before but I am now because I don't feel like I can really talk to anyone in my personal life about what I'm dealing with every day & have them actually understand. I am 22 years old. I have had 4 laproscopy's in the past 4 years (the last one being a week ago today) & 3 DNC's (along with the past 3 surgeries - not this most recent surgery) to clean out the endometriosis & everything.
Avatar f tn In order to get pregnant though, you need to not only be ovulating but you also need to be producing fertile cervical mucous and a thick uterine lining after you ovulate. The reason Depo-Provera is so long lasting is because of the way it works. The levels of DMPA (the synthetic hormone in Depo-Provera) gradually increase over a three week period, at which time they reach their peak levels. After three weeks the DMPA levels begin to decrease exponentially.
Avatar n tn One thing I noticed during my internet search was a number of results discussing Depo Provera and how it has caused the onset of early menopause in women even in their 20’s. Has anyone else heard about this, and if so, are there other resources I can review to get more information on this correlation? Thanks, I just have to know what is causing this!
440473 tn?1204745862 sounds like ur ovulating and women who ovulate heavy have this clear stringy discharge.....odorless..my mom had it..i had it.....and thank God Depo provera did away with it!my ovulation and cramping with this was worse than periods later on in life.....and while ovulating like this u can get pregnant...if u doubt this or want medical opinion got to doctor and get xamined!
Avatar f tn Recently, Me and My Boyfriend had un-protected sex.. and afterwards i started bleeding. we haven't had sex in a week, what could time be a sign of.. I am on Depo Provera-the birth control shot?
3113005 tn?1341773834 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
Avatar f tn The period usually returns after stopping the shots, however, it can take 3 months to a year for the effects of Depo-Provera to wear off and fertility to return.
Avatar f tn Irregular menstrual periods, or no periods at all Headaches Nervousness Depression Dizziness Acne Changes in appetite Weight gain Excessive growth of facial and body hair Hair loss Loss of bone mineral density Most of the side effects are not common. Change in the menstrual cycle is the most common side effect. You may experience irregular bleeding or spotting. After a year of use, about 50% of women will stop getting their periods. Their periods usually return when they discontinue the shots.
Avatar f tn I've been on depo provera for 15 years and my periods stopped right away. I'm 45 years old and just had a period that lasted 5 days. My question is whether or not depo provera is still working as my birth control choice? Is there a way to know if depo provera is no longer working and if I may get pregnant?
Avatar f tn Hello, I was just wondering if anyone out there knows anything about the long term use of Depo-Provera Contraceptive. I have been using it for a few years now, and have no plans of stopping using it anytime soon, as I am in college and will be for quite some time to come. I know that I am putting myself at risk for Osteoporosis by using it for a long time. But what I don't know is considering the fact that since being on Depo, I have had pretty much no menstrual cycle for a very long time.
