Depo provera and vitamin d

Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera and vitamin d

depo-provera

3113005 tn?1341773834 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
Avatar m tn I have read at length about many different side effects of Depo-Provera and though I never experienced hair loss as a symptom I understand that can occur after a period of treatment. I have also read about the effects of hormones and their influence on each other and am hoping that this is an isolated incident due to the ever changing flux in my hormone levels recently.
3183263 tn?1344736236 I really don't kno that answer to this question I will really like to know. I been on depo provera since 2009 until 2011. And I still haven't gotten pregnant and I really want to.
Avatar f tn I have researched so many things but I just came across a site that said the depo provera shot could cause vitamin b-12 deficiency. And vitamin b-12 deficiency would cause all of my symptoms. And also these symptoms started after I got the shot. Anyone have any information on this? I have only had one shot and other than this I have been fine.
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you start doing ovulation predictors once you have a normal period and if you are not ovulating regularly, you could start a medication like Clomid to overcome the after effects of the depo. Also, you should take lots of vit D and calcium--depo can cause thining of the bone, but that is reversible when you stop it. Good luck!
Avatar n tn has taken me off the Depo Shots and I was put on Birth Control Pills. The blood was very dark red and blood clots. I was given an altrsound was told nothing was wrong. Is this normal with the Depo Provera?
432411 tn?1206472109 I took depo provera for about 6 years, starting in 2000. Just over three months after I stopped taking the shots I developed a nodule in my neck which was eventually diagnosed as thyroid cancer. I have absolutely no history of thyroid problems of any kind in family and I had had no problems before the depo.
Avatar f tn When I was 16 my parents put me on the depo provera shot. I was on it till 2 months before my 18th birthday. Now I havent been on any birth control and me and my fiance have been trying to have a baby since I quit taking the shot and still cant get pregnant. Is it possible that the depo provera made me infertile??

Avatar f tn I have a history of anxiety and depression. Is depo-provera a good choice or a bad choice for birth control? Thank you!

Avatar n tn Hi, I am not sure of what type of antibiotic might affect other contraceptives like the pill, but I am pretty sure that she will be fine on the shot. I myself had the depo-provera shot about 10 years ago. I only had one shot and I didn't have a period until a whole year later. It actually took me over another year after my period returned before, I finally became pregnant. The depo-provera shot is extremely effective.
Avatar n tn I was on Depo Provera for about 8 years when my husband and I decided to try for another baby. I received my last injection in September 2006. I was pregnant by March 07 but miscarried at 5 weeks. We waited until December to try again and just miscarried that one at 9 weeks. After having 2 healthy children with no pregnancy complications, I am led to believe that this is an effect of the Depo injections.
Avatar f tn s no way to tell for sure, but more and more proof is coming out that autism is NOT linked to vaccines, and because depo provera is an active hormone shot and not a vaccine, I highly doubt that it is the cause. Are your other children girls by any chance? Very often a family that has an autistic child only has 1 (almost always a boy), and the rest of the children are "normal". They are thinking more and more that it's a genetic mutation.
384896 tn?1335294331 not sure about the breast feeding part but a lot of women on this site might agree with me to stay clear of depo-provera. I was on this bc for 2 and a half years and have been ttc for the same length of time with no joy. I was diagnosed with depression at 16 years old when i was on this, i asked the doc if that was the problem and was told no, when the depo eventually cleared from my system so did the depression my family say i was a new person.
Avatar f tn m outside the normal range of time after stopping Depo Provera to have gotten my periods back. Could Depo be causing these problems or does it sound like something else could be a problem?
Avatar n tn Hey there, I have the same problem and they have stopped trying BCP's on me. Have you tried Depo Provera? That can work, it stops your period also. It can cause weight gain and bone density thinning and I *think* depression but its not common the depression I dont think. If you keep a balanced diet the weight gain often isnt a problem, its more an increase in apetite. Have you been back to your doctor about it? It would deffinately be worth going back, 7 months is a bit too long!
Avatar f tn In order to get pregnant though, you need to not only be ovulating but you also need to be producing fertile cervical mucous and a thick uterine lining after you ovulate. The reason Depo-Provera is so long lasting is because of the way it works. The levels of DMPA (the synthetic hormone in Depo-Provera) gradually increase over a three week period, at which time they reach their peak levels. After three weeks the DMPA levels begin to decrease exponentially.
Avatar m tn I started birth control at 15 for heavy periods. I switched to Depo Provera after about 6 years on the same pill. I was on Depo Provera for 1 year. I stopped in December 2015 due to irritating light spotting and mood changes. I began BC pills that allow for a period only once every 3 months. The spotting now only occurs after sex or self stimulation. I got my period in February, and it was extremely light (not at all like I remember).
Avatar n tn I am a 28 year old woman who usually doesn't get a period. I was on Depo provera for almost 6 years and have been on Nuva Ring for 2 years. As I said, I usually do not get a period and when I do it's very short, maybe 2-3 days. I have now been bleeding for almost 14 days! When should I go to the doctor? Is it anything to worry about?
Avatar n tn One thing I noticed during my internet search was a number of results discussing Depo Provera and how it has caused the onset of early menopause in women even in their 20’s. Has anyone else heard about this, and if so, are there other resources I can review to get more information on this correlation? Thanks, I just have to know what is causing this!
Avatar f tn Recently, Me and My Boyfriend had un-protected sex.. and afterwards i started bleeding. we haven't had sex in a week, what could time be a sign of.. I am on Depo Provera-the birth control shot?
Avatar f tn c and a molar pregnancy all at one time. wass immediately put on birth control depo-provera and missed my due injection in may. my periods just started being regular in july and im not pregnant yet.
Avatar f tn The period usually returns after stopping the shots, however, it can take 3 months to a year for the effects of Depo-Provera to wear off and fertility to return.
Avatar f tn I've been on depo provera for 15 years and my periods stopped right away. I'm 45 years old and just had a period that lasted 5 days. My question is whether or not depo provera is still working as my birth control choice? Is there a way to know if depo provera is no longer working and if I may get pregnant?
Avatar f tn Hello, I was just wondering if anyone out there knows anything about the long term use of Depo-Provera Contraceptive. I have been using it for a few years now, and have no plans of stopping using it anytime soon, as I am in college and will be for quite some time to come. I know that I am putting myself at risk for Osteoporosis by using it for a long time. But what I don't know is considering the fact that since being on Depo, I have had pretty much no menstrual cycle for a very long time.
