depo provera and thyroid

I took depo for 5 years and stopped taking it when I got engaged so we could start planning a family. At the time I stopped taking the drug I went from a size 4-6 to a size 14 in a matter of 2 months. But thyroid kept testing in normal range. Once my periods returned, we tried for a family and had no sucess. Eventually we ended up doing IVF and became pregnant with triplets.

has taken me off the Depo Shots and I was put on Birth Control Pills. The blood was very dark red and blood clots. I was given an altrsound was told nothing was wrong. Is this normal with the Depo Provera?

I just went to the GYN and got my annual pelvic exam and my first shot of depo and so far everything has been okay. However, once I didn't get my period I started to worry and I took a pregnancy test just in case and it did come out negative. But I'm still freaking out since I am only 18 and really do not want to be pregnant. So is it normal to be late for your period after getting the shot? or should I take another test? Thanks.

Hi, I am not sure of what type of antibiotic might affect other contraceptives like the pill, but I am pretty sure that she will be fine on the shot. I myself had the depo-provera shot about 10 years ago. I only had one shot and I didn't have a period until a whole year later. It actually took me over another year after my period returned before, I finally became pregnant. The depo-provera shot is extremely effective.

s no way to tell for sure, but more and more proof is coming out that autism is NOT linked to vaccines, and because depo provera is an active hormone shot and not a vaccine, I highly doubt that it is the cause. Are your other children girls by any chance? Very often a family that has an autistic child only has 1 (almost always a boy), and the rest of the children are "normal". They are thinking more and more that it's a genetic mutation.

not sure about the breast feeding part but a lot of women on this site might agree with me to stay clear of depo-provera. I was on this bc for 2 and a half years and have been ttc for the same length of time with no joy. Hello, I was on depo provera for 9 years, I had my last shot in Jan 2012 and was suppose to come get my next shot April 2012, My doctor informed me that it would be fine for me to just stop taking it because I did so well while I was on it and that I should be fine coming off of it, well I didnt. I had horrible side effects from July and they are still happening now, I have had every test done (ultrasounds, blood test, endoscopes, ect.) and everything came back normal.

Welcome to the forum! Sometimes after coming off of depo provera one has a period of time before their cycles are completely normal. You very well could just be having a longer than usual cycle. The package insert for depo provera says that fertility is back to normal 6 months to a year after stopping the shots. This is not to say that you aren't pregnant or couldn't get pregnant right now. Every woman is different and will have a unique exerience after discontinuing the shots.

I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone out there knows anything about the long term use of Depo-Provera Contraceptive. I have been using it for a few years now, and have no plans of stopping using it anytime soon, as I am in college and will be for quite some time to come. I know that I am putting myself at risk for Osteoporosis by using it for a long time. But what I don't know is considering the fact that since being on Depo, I have had pretty much no menstrual cycle for a very long time.

So I've been on depo for 9.months now and got my renewal shot and antibiotics for 10 days on the same day, how long should I wait before having unprotected sex? How will they effect eachother????

I was on depo for a year and a few months stopped it and began planning for a child. I was told it can take up to a year however at eight months post depo I got my periods back, two months later I got my bfp. So it just deffers from person to person. If you think you could already be pregnant test four to five weeks after possible conception.

I saw the gyno in April this year and had a pap and pelvic exam and even a pelvic and abdominal ultra sound. Everything came back normal and the Dr. suggested I try birth control to relieve the bothersome symptoms associated with my period. So that is when I went back on Deop and things seemed to get better. However I had my last shot on Oct. 31 and have been noticing that my pelvic pain, cramps, painful intercourse, and low back aches are returning.
