Depo provera and pregnancy symptoms

Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera and pregnancy symptoms

depo-provera

3113005 tn?1341773834 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
Avatar n tn I had not had my period in 5 months and my gyno put me on provera. I really want to conceive but I dont know how long it usually takes. Am i able to get pregnant right after taking provera? ( I have had my period for 4 days now) thanks!!
494669 tn?1275362475 I have been off Depo-Provera for 11 months now and still haven't conceived. Every month i have the same symptoms you are describing and every month i have the same negative result. I was also told afetr i came off the injection it could take me anything from a year to 2 years to conceive.
Avatar n tn I fell pregnant on my depo injection and found out with a home preg test...
Avatar n tn Hi my name is Marie and i was on depo provera in May 07 and i had my periods in december. It was regular and my last period was in March 08. Since then i never got my periods again. Im confused and lost. Sometimes i take pregnancy tests and they all come out negative. So i really dont know what's the cause. I really need some help and answers! Recently i had sex with my boyfriend and my periods are still not here. But i feel tired and moody from time to times.
Avatar m tn well i thought ok this is my mind messing with me but now i have been freaking out i am supposed to get my period in a week but just got the depo provera 2 days ago now i have been eating everything in sight, headaches, breast tenderness like never before but my main concern is me peeing every 30 min and i have wat seems a bulge i dont know if its the depo or if its a pregnancy and im wondering if i should go get a ultrasound to ease my mind.
902536 tn?1326914250 depo-provera is poison to the body and i know a lot of women on this site will agree with me. I don't think your pregnant though there could be a possibility only a test will tell you if you are or not.
Avatar n tn I think i am pregnant but i am on the depo provera shot. Is that possible and if it is will the shot affect the fetus? I would be a month and some now and i have been having unprotected sex for two months.
Avatar m tn Hi, my girlfriend lives overseas and she's on depo provera. She gets the shot once or twice a year only (not every 12 or 13 weeks). She has it injected one month in advance, every time before I travel overseas to visit her and have sex. I know depo provera meant to provide over 99% protection after 7 days, but we like to be extra cautious and wait a month before having sex. She had her last shot in September, and I visited her nearly a month later in October.
Avatar n tn She took a pregnancy test before she got the depo provera shot (it was negative... obviously). She started having these symptoms about a week after getting the shot (the same time school started). We thought the symptoms might be a sign of her being pregnant, so she took another test a couple days ago and it was negative. I don't know what's going on, but I'm concerned. We're afraid she might be pregnant. We always use condoms even though she's on the shot... but still...
Avatar f tn I have a history of anxiety and depression. Is depo-provera a good choice or a bad choice for birth control? Thank you!
Avatar n tn Hi, I am not sure of what type of antibiotic might affect other contraceptives like the pill, but I am pretty sure that she will be fine on the shot. I myself had the depo-provera shot about 10 years ago. I only had one shot and I didn't have a period until a whole year later. It actually took me over another year after my period returned before, I finally became pregnant. The depo-provera shot is extremely effective.
Avatar n tn But recently I have been very tired and other symptoms of pregnancy. I had unprotected sex for a month and up to.having the injection. I can find a lot of information on people getting pregnant on the injection. But no information on being pregnant when having the injection. Will it harm my baby if I am? Coz the injection be causing the same symptoms of pregnancy? And also if I take a pregnancy test now would the injection affect my result? If its not to early to get a result at all.
Avatar f tn I did not get my shot that was due in September and now I am having symptoms of pregnancy again. What are the chances of me being pregnant this soon?
Avatar f tn The period usually returns after stopping the shots, however, it can take 3 months to a year for the effects of Depo-Provera to wear off and fertility to return.
983134 tn?1248699243 I was on it for a year and a half and have gained so much weight and friends of mine that were on it all gained weight and had pregnancy symptoms when they weren't really pregnant. It is not a good birth control to be on at all.
Avatar f tn Even though it is intended to help you avoid pregnancy for up to three months, it may actually prevent pregnancy longer. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone similar to progesterone. It is designed to keep your body from ovulating, but it also keeps your cervical mucous thick and thins the lining of your uterus to prevent implantation. Because Depo tends to keep the lining of the uterus thin, this is one of the reasons women generally have lighter periods while taking it.
Avatar f tn However there is a supposed two week window in which Depo-Provera is supposed to be effective and that window ended October 8th, so just a few weeks ago. However, I got back on birth control 4 days after this two week window ended on October 12th. The doctor advised me to use a condom in the first week and I go ahead like an airhead and have sex that SAME day, unprotected. While my fiance used the 'pull-out' ' method knowing basic biology, it is still possible to get pregnant.
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you start doing ovulation predictors once you have a normal period and if you are not ovulating regularly, you could start a medication like Clomid to overcome the after effects of the depo. Also, you should take lots of vit D and calcium--depo can cause thining of the bone, but that is reversible when you stop it. Good luck!
Avatar n tn One thing I noticed during my internet search was a number of results discussing Depo Provera and how it has caused the onset of early menopause in women even in their 20’s. Has anyone else heard about this, and if so, are there other resources I can review to get more information on this correlation? Thanks, I just have to know what is causing this!
Avatar n tn has taken me off the Depo Shots and I was put on Birth Control Pills. The blood was very dark red and blood clots. I was given an altrsound was told nothing was wrong. Is this normal with the Depo Provera?
Avatar f tn m outside the normal range of time after stopping Depo Provera to have gotten my periods back. Could Depo be causing these problems or does it sound like something else could be a problem?
Avatar f tn i decided to not go on any other birth control for awhile. What are the side effects of coming off the Depo Provera and is it ok to not be on any birthcontrol at all for awhile??
Avatar f tn is it possible to get pregnant if you were in depo provera shots monthly and then you missed the schedule shot?
Avatar f tn Hello, I got my first Depo-provera shot on October 18th. That was day 2 of my period. I had unprotected sex last night with someone that I trust...and he came inside of me twice...however now I'm worried about pregnancy. Should I take a Plan B? Was the Depo provera effective?
Avatar f tn Other things can delay a cycle and cause you to have odd symptoms that might look a bit like pregnancy such as hypothyroidism. I would set an appt. up with your doctor. Take a pregnancy test their via blood and go from there. If you aren't pregnant, you may just be having an adjustment period after discontinuing the shots or something like a slow thyroid. But your doctor should be able to help you with that. good luck! (PS, sorry about your late gestation miscarriage.
