has taken me off the Depo Shots and I was put on Birth Control Pills. The blood was very dark red and blood clots. I was given an altrsound was told nothing was wrong. Is this normal with the Depo Provera?

Hi, I am not sure of what type of antibiotic might affect other contraceptives like the pill, but I am pretty sure that she will be fine on the shot. s no way to tell for sure, but more and more proof is coming out that autism is NOT linked to vaccines, and because depo provera is an active hormone shot and not a vaccine, I highly doubt that it is the cause. Welcome to the forum! Sometimes after coming off of depo provera one has a period of time before their cycles are completely normal. You very well could just be having a longer than usual cycle. The package insert for depo provera says that fertility is back to normal 6 months to a year after stopping the shots. This is not to say that you aren't pregnant or couldn't get pregnant right now. Every woman is different and will have a unique exerience after discontinuing the shots.

I am not sure about whether or not the cause of the miscarriages were due to the Depo-Provera but I did furthur research and wanted to share some info with those individuals that don't know. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone. I was very young when I took it and didn't get all of the details (ignorance). If I would have known that fact alone, I wouldn't have taken it. If you have a low Progestrone Level it will more than likely cause you to have a miscarriage. Now.....

not sure about the breast feeding part but a lot of women on this site might agree with me to stay clear of depo-provera. Hi, i posted a question a few days ago about taking a pregnancy test 6 weeks after unprotected sex. I cameoff the depo provera injection in jan, had a lengthy period in feb, did a pregnancy test the other day which came up negative. I am having a bleed now, but its very on and off. Was it too early to take the test, could i be pregnant? Or is the period due to the fact i not long stopped the injection. Someone help please!

I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.

I have been using it for a few years now, and have no plans of stopping using it anytime soon, as I am in college and will be for quite some time to come. I know that I am putting myself at risk for Osteoporosis by using it for a long time. But what I don't know is considering the fact that since being on Depo, I have had pretty much no menstrual cycle for a very long time.
