Im taking the provera pills. I take BC to help regulate my periods for the next two months but I haven't stopped this period yet.
Pregnancy occurring during the use of the shot is usually an undetected pregnancy before the shot is given. One of the side effects of Depo-Provera is irregular menstrual bleeding. 50% of women will stop getting their period after 1 year of the shot. The period usually returns after stopping the shots, however, it can take 3 months to a year for the effects of Depo-Provera to wear off and fertility to return.

Most of the side effects are not common. Change in the menstrual cycle is the most common side effect. You may experience irregular bleeding or spotting. After a year of use, about 50% of women will stop getting their periods. Their periods usually return when they discontinue the shots.
I think you should talk with you doctor to see whats going on and also that you should of check out the side effects before getting on the Depo Provera shot because Deop can cause Irregular, heavy, or no bleeding are common side effects of Depo Provera. After a year of use, many women stop having periods. Lack of a period becomes increasingly common with longer use but since your period hasn't stop you should see your doctor.
I just went to the GYN and got my annual pelvic exam and my first shot of depo and so far everything has been okay. However, once I didn't get my period I started to worry and I took a pregnancy test just in case and it did come out negative. But I'm still freaking out since I am only 18 and really do not want to be pregnant. So is it normal to be late for your period after getting the shot? or should I take another test? Thanks.
But since i had three kids and only three pregnancies My boy friend made me get on The depo. I am very fertle so My first shot was in feb of last year and i had alot of pain and light bleeding. The second shot was The same and by The third i decided not to take it any more i never had a period again. Now this year in feb i had some Spotin for two days , march for three days , then i had a period two days after it stoped.
Some people "like me" I had to get my Depo-Provera at 11 weeks and if I didn't I would see dark colored blood
I will be on my period for about a week and a half then stop for a couple days and start again. I was on the Depo Provera Shot and I was suppose to get it re-newed on the first on June. But I have been having a very irregular bleeding for about the past month or so. On and off, light then heavy. Brown looking color then very red. It's different on a day-to-day basis. I have been off the depo shot since March 17th. I am still bleeding a huge amount of blood and huge clots! I don't know what to do. I told my doctor once and all she could say was try the depo again! Why would I want to do that when I'm having all this major bleeding. I feel like I'm bleeding to death!
If you were my patient, I would advise you that the depo provera injection is a very good and convenient form of birth control. Many patients use if for years and love it. Often there is some irregular bleeding initially when the shot is first begun, but after that most people don't have much more than infrequent spotting. If you get your shots on time the method is approximately 99% effective. I DO advise my patients to take a calcium supplement while on Depo.

I'm 22 and currently have the depo injection every 12 weeks, I've had vaginal bleeding which i'm guessing was a irregular period which has stopped but i'm noticing spots of blood in my underwear sometimes and sometimes wipe blood after I urinate, I have no pain or burn though, should I be concerned?
Im 28 and have never been pregnant slightly overweight but not too concerred and getting it back down periods were always regular and pain free went on for birth control, my husband has 1 child already and decided to start are own family.
Hello, I was just wondering if anyone out there knows anything about the long term use of Depo-Provera Contraceptive. I have been using it for a few years now, and have no plans of stopping using it anytime soon, as I am in college and will be for quite some time to come. I know that I am putting myself at risk for Osteoporosis by using it for a long time. But what I don't know is considering the fact that since being on Depo, I have had pretty much no menstrual cycle for a very long time.
