has taken me off the Depo Shots and I was put on Birth Control Pills. The blood was very dark red and blood clots. I was given an altrsound was told nothing was wrong. Is this normal with the Depo Provera?

Hi, my girlfriend lives overseas and she's on depo provera. She gets the shot once or twice a year only (not every 12 or 13 weeks). She has it injected one month in advance, every time before I travel overseas to visit her and have sex. I know depo provera meant to provide over 99% protection after 7 days, but we like to be extra cautious and wait a month before having sex. She had her last shot in September, and I visited her nearly a month later in October.

It's possible. I heard depo isn't good for you though. I was on it and had a neighbour that worked at a doctors office and told me to come off it as soon as possible. I only was on it for maybe a year but that was in high school. I have 2 children but it was many years after being off depo. Many women end up pregnant after the depo though.

So I went to the doctor and they wouldn't do an ultrasound, but they did a blood test and it said that i wasn't pregnant. So i went to the er and they told me that i wasn't pregnant either but thy couldn't give me an ultrasound. So the dr gave me a prescription for provera. what is it? what does it do he told me it was birth control. but i went to the pharmacy and they said that it wasn't birth control. it is hormones. oes anyone know anything about this drug?

Hi, I am not sure of what type of antibiotic might affect other contraceptives like the pill, but I am pretty sure that she will be fine on the shot. I myself had the depo-provera shot about 10 years ago. I only had one shot and I didn't have a period until a whole year later. It actually took me over another year after my period returned before, I finally became pregnant. The depo-provera shot is extremely effective.

Is depo-provera linked with infertility! I am a 24 and at the age of 20, I had 2 injections of depo-provera. Ever since, my period could me counted as almost none except when I am extreamely stress wich happen only 2 times. Other than that, nothing. I had a physical, inner & outer ultrasound & blood word and everthing was A1. So my doctor thinks I might be infertile. Before taking depo-provera, my periods were normal.

not sure about the breast feeding part but a lot of women on this site might agree with me to stay clear of depo-provera. I was on this bc for 2 and a half years and have been ttc for the same length of time with no joy.
