If it weren't for the mood swings and depression and loss of sex drive I would get back on it! The hair loss didn't bother me cause I wore my hair short anyway and I so welcomed the weight gain because I was 125 pnds. With these huge boobs and my body didn't look right it was out of proportion. But once I got married I had no problem getting pregnant. It took about 2mths to get a period but I wasn't complaining because they were so painful anyway.
I have one friend that gained 15 lbs in three months on depo and i have another friend who suffered from hair loss while on depo. The key is just finding a birth control method that works for you and for your body and remember that all birth control have some sort of side effect.
I gained 24 lbs. had some hair loss, and developed some joint pain. My mother was on it for 5 years, and has experienced bone loss. I will never take DEPO again. There are too many other BC Options on the market, to settle for one with such extreme side effects.I am now on Mirena IUD and I love it!!!!!!!!
I also have learned that Depo causes bone density loss so maybe I am not menopausal. I don't mean to sound whiny and pitiful, but I can hardly remember the energetic, optimistic person that I used to be. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired! I have been searching the net and find lots of women with lots of side effects from taking Depo Provera, but I am trying to find other women who have experienced problems after QUITTING the injections.
I have never heard of that happening with Clomid. MANY of us used clomid multiple times and never had hair loss.
I will never go on Depo Provera again. My daughter was on Depo Provera at college, and discontinued the shot and has lost that weight and is thin again. Fitday.com's free site has helped me keep up with my carb intake, and also tells me how many calories, how much fat etc. I use. It does this automatically when I put my food in for the day. Also Magic Bus has a forum where you can learn how to lose weight quick and even post on a challenge to keep you honest and responsible.
here is my web site and depo group web address. please feel free to take a look and ask me questions!!! love...kimmie http://health.groups.yahoo.
I wonder what the difference between the two depo shots are and I wonder why my gyno recommended the other depo shot if the depo-subq provera 104 shot is specific for endo ?
But everyone is different and reacts differently to depo. Some people even get pregnant while on depo or once they stop it. Usually it stays in your system from 12-18 months. I stopped depo in Nov 04 and started BCP's to regualte my periods. Then in Aug 05 I stopped BCP's to TTC. Because the depo was still in my system and I just got of BCP's I didnt have a period without the help of provera until Dec 05. I now am almost 21 weeks pregnant.
well i have used the depo shot before ,i just recently started having hair loss and my daughter is now 4 months this is the first timefor me
i was on the pill, but sometimes i forgot to take it and i don't take it at the same time always. i was reading up on depo provera...i've heard some great things & then i have heard some complete horror stories! can anyone on this pill tell me about their experiences please? i have read you don't get your period anymore, tons of weight gain, hair loss, increase your risk of getting breast cancer...i mean is all of this true.
I was diagnosed some time ago and since then I have been on a series of birth control; all forms i.e...the patch,nuva-ring,depo-provera, and just about every pill you can think of. Not only did they not work but they caused the worst side effects and I am not allergic to anything. I have been controlling my diet for some time now watching my carb intake and was on glucophage for a while with no results.
I've been taking 500mg metformin myself and I have not experienced any weight loss. I am actually taking it for diabetes treatment. But it has not helped with my weight loss.
My question is why is my bleeding not stopping completely on provera although its been 2 weeks i started taking them and the bleeding is moderate during the dayt and light during the night, I am soaking 2 to 3 pads per day .. maybe you should get checked out anyway, if your in a lot of pain don't take the chance. Depo Side Effects One of the major side effects of depo provera is the irreversible loss of bone density with prolonged use. This may also lead to the higher risk of osteoporosis in women. Therefore, it is always recommended that you should not use this contraceptive for more than two years. Women are also advised to exercise and take in a lot of calcium while using this method.
To add to this, I have a second cousin who got the depo shot and she lost ALL her body hair.. I dont know if it was an allergic reaction for her that has nothing to do with anyone else.. But its made me scared S******* to get the shot!
Other side effects of Depo Provera can include headaches, nervousness, mood changes, bloating, hot flashes, decreased interest in sex, breast tenderness, acne, hair loss, and back ache. After the last shot of Depo Provera, it can take over 6 months for the drug to leave the body. Side effects may linger until the drug is completely gone.
strange menstrual cycles) At first I had spotting on and off every month after I started depo and after my last depo shot I never got the spotting or anything. I was constantly trying to lose weight. I didn't know how to get the weight off. I'm still 135. Been that since I gave birth to my daughter. No diet pills or diet will work for me. I haven't had my period or any spotting since my last shot and I'm still breastfeeding my daughter. But a few days ago I started feeling queasy.
Just a few observations- I see a pattern of Pantene users getting this condition, plus hormone changing events associated as well. I know female hormones can cause hair loss, and increased inflammation in in tissue including gums and scalp. So, maybe these changes cause some bacterial increase or inflammation in the scalp that Listerine clears up. Clarifying shampoo removes oils and buildup, so probably clears these to allow Listerine to soak in do its thing.
I used to have a lot thicker hair, now it's very fine and relatively thin. After about 5 months being off the pill, the hair loss lessened, but regrowth has never come for me. Hair growth is hormonal so it only makes sense that some people may experience hair loss as a result of altering their hormonal state. Pregnant women often experience hair loss either during or after pregnancy. It does happen, though how to address your situation is always a personal decision.
I have been off Depo-Provera for 11 months now and still haven't conceived. Every month i have the same symptoms you are describing and every month i have the same negative result. I was also told afetr i came off the injection it could take me anything from a year to 2 years to conceive.
There may be few side effects noted while on depo like menstrual irregularities, abdominal pain or discomfort, weight changes, headache, depression, hair loss and nervousness, skin breakouts. If a person is experiencing these side effects it may be a clue that a person is on depo shots. A history of taking 3 monthly deep IM injection in the gluteal or deltoid muscle can again be an indication that a woman is on depo shots. Do write to me again with more queries. Best wishes and regards!
Irregular menstrual periods, or no periods at all Headaches Nervousness Depression Dizziness Acne Changes in appetite Weight gain Excessive growth of facial and body hair Hair loss Loss of bone mineral density Most of the side effects are not common. Change in the menstrual cycle is the most common side effect. You may experience irregular bleeding or spotting. After a year of use, about 50% of women will stop getting their periods. Their periods usually return when they discontinue the shots.
Although depo plays around with your hormones a LOT...I lost my hair with my first shot and gain 60lbs in a month and half....so I HATE DEPO. Get checked out to be sure....and even with Depo you should be using condoms and spemicide(One bc method for you and him and one for insurance) Plus you have to watch out for STDs....that bad stuff.
Compounded Bioidentical Hormones have received a great deal of coverage in news, on talk shows, and in magazines over the past several years. Claims of weight loss, increasing energy, improve mood, are safer, and many others have been made. Hopefully this article can help you answer questions and dismiss many of the myths surrounding this highly published, highly marketed topic.
I was on birth control pills for 3 years ( stopped taking them 3 years ago) and I was on Depo-Provera for 6 months (stopped getting the needles due to hair loss and constant menses) I stopped depo-provera 26 months ago. At this point my gyn has no clue what to do next and I am getting worried that I will never have a child of my own. What should my next step be, what else can I do?
i have also had hair loss over 7 years and when the implanon came out. I am depressed and bored with life...no sex drive to the extent ive been single for 5 years now....jus cant be botherd. I have a son who is 10 and i want to be able to enjoy life with him but i just cant.
