Although depo plays around with your hormones a LOT...I lost my hair with my first shot and gain 60lbs in a month and half....so I HATE DEPO. Get checked out to be sure....and even with Depo you should be using condoms and spemicide(One bc method for you and him and one for insurance) Plus you have to watch out for STDs....that bad stuff.

I have been off Depo-Provera for 11 months now and still haven't conceived. Every month i have the same symptoms you are describing and every month i have the same negative result. I was also told afetr i came off the injection it could take me anything from a year to 2 years to conceive.

I have read at length about many different side effects of Depo-Provera and though I never experienced hair loss as a symptom I understand that can occur after a period of treatment. I have also read about the effects of hormones and their influence on each other and am hoping that this is an isolated incident due to the ever changing flux in my hormone levels recently.

So, i'm thinking of switching my birth control. i was on the pill, but sometimes i forgot to take it and i don't take it at the same time always. i was reading up on depo provera...i've heard some great things & then i have heard some complete horror stories! can anyone on this pill tell me about their experiences please? i have read you don't get your period anymore, tons of weight gain, hair loss, increase your risk of getting breast cancer...i mean is all of this true.

(I have lost track). The Depo shot caused my hair to fall out. I have extremely thick curly hair, halfway down the middle of my back. By the time I got off the Depo shot my hair was so thin I had to put a ponytail holder around 4-5 times and my hair is now barely past my shoulders. It's horrible. And to top it off, I am still having my periods for 6+ weeks. I got off the shot and started taking vitamins for my hair.

I think i am pregnant but i am on the depo provera shot. Is that possible and if it is will the shot affect the fetus? I would be a month and some now and i have been having unprotected sex for two months.

I meant symptoms other than hair loss, fatigue and being cold.

To add to this, I have a second cousin who got the depo shot and she lost ALL her body hair.. I dont know if it was an allergic reaction for her that has nothing to do with anyone else.. But its made me scared S******* to get the shot!

while on the depo my hair along my forehead thinned out, and i grew hair on my chin, neck and lower abdomen. my hair did thicken up but the facial and abdomenal hair is still there. i was blessed with a child at 27 but that was nearly 10 years after i started the depo. so please be careful.

I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE WEIGHT GAIN AND STARTED BEING EVEN MORE ACTIVE AND EATING BETTER. BEFORE THE DEPO SHOT I WALKED 6 MILES A DAY AND DID CALISTHENICS EVERY MORNING AND NIGHT. I GAINED EVEN MORE WEIGHT AFTER THAT 3 MONTH PERIOD AND NOW AT 250 LBS., OVER 100 LBS. My doc will put me another med called Aldactone which will hopefully help me grow my hair back. Now I was on Depo-provera - which apparently is bad for PCOS, so we are waiting for it to get out of system before we move on. Hope fully it will be out so the blood test are correct :) I go in the begining of June.

has taken me off the Depo Shots and I was put on Birth Control Pills. The blood was very dark red and blood clots. I was given an altrsound was told nothing was wrong. Is this normal with the Depo Provera?

I just went to the GYN and got my annual pelvic exam and my first shot of depo and so far everything has been okay. However, once I didn't get my period I started to worry and I took a pregnancy test just in case and it did come out negative. But I'm still freaking out since I am only 18 and really do not want to be pregnant. So is it normal to be late for your period after getting the shot? or should I take another test? Thanks.

I have been on Depo Provera for 13 years. I have not had a period in probably 10 years or longer. I got the flu and started taking flu medicine and two days later all of the sudden - a period. I am freaking out. What would cause a sudden period after such a long absence? I want it to go away NOW. Did the flu medicine kill my depo shot?

Hi, I am not sure of what type of antibiotic might affect other contraceptives like the pill, but I am pretty sure that she will be fine on the shot. I myself had the depo-provera shot about 10 years ago. I only had one shot and I didn't have a period until a whole year later. It actually took me over another year after my period returned before, I finally became pregnant. The depo-provera shot is extremely effective.

ve never been on the depo for 10 years I was told by my doctor to only use the depo for 1-2 years the most, it does cause bone loss. I was on it before for 3 years and just went back on 2 months ago. It is the only birth control I like. I'm surprised you doctor didn't mention the effects the depo can have when on it for long period of time.

s no way to tell for sure, but more and more proof is coming out that autism is NOT linked to vaccines, and because depo provera is an active hormone shot and not a vaccine, I highly doubt that it is the cause. Are your other children girls by any chance? Very often a family that has an autistic child only has 1 (almost always a boy), and the rest of the children are "normal". They are thinking more and more that it's a genetic mutation.
