Depo provera and cramping

Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera and cramping

depo-provera

I got depo provera about a month and a half ago. The last 2 weeks I have had extreme cramps in my abdomine and lower back. I have also had none stop bleeding for about 2 weeks. It is not spotting it like a full on period. Is this normal or should I go to my doctor?
I've been on Depo Provera for almost a year but i've decided to not get my next shot in two weeks i'm not wanting to get pregnant anytime soon but I'm wondering how long will it take for the Hormones to leave my body and what kind of side effects should I expect?
The only minor side effects I did have was mild cramping after the shot, and headaches. Although once I got off depo that was different. My hair started to fall out, I gained weight, headaches were worse and so on. This pregnancy happened 2 months after being off birth control completely, and while hubby had a vesectomy. So the only real birth control i think is no sex.....which is damn near impossibale lol.
Just from my experence I was on depo shot and you have signs of pregnancy and are not pregnant and there is no way possiable you could feel you baby kick so soon you don't start feeling any movement until your about 4months pregnant I had a baby about 5months ago tomorrow is 5months and well I didn't actually really feel him move until I was 4months along maybe a lil ferther and I had a m/c on the depo shot the shot was in my systom but the shot killed the baby well anyways I don't think a baby
I have been on Depo-provera for nearly two months now, and have been on several other birth controls to try and regulate my period. None of the pills ever worked, I continued to bleed irregularly with heavy blood flow, and periods lasting up to 8 weeks. My doctor and I tried LUPRON to stop my periods, and it worked well for about six months. Due to insurance refusing to pay, I switched to Depo-Provera. I started bleeding two weeks ago, with all the sypmtoms of a regular period.
the first time I started on a tuesday, took my last pill on saturday night and started my period on wednesday...the period is like a normal period and I didn't have alot of cramps, it was like a normal period except that I had to take pills to induce it..this time I started my pills on friday night and took the last one on wednesday morning...so far no period yet but I have been cramping a little so I know that it will be here within a day or two...
Hi! I'm new to this so please bare with me! I had depo provera injections from Apr 06 - Mar 07 (last one). BF & I have been actively TTC since then - My periods stopped at the 2nd injection and I have not had one since Aug 06. I have had a blood test in Aug which showed estridol 124pg/ml (in the follicular phase) and some more blood tests this week for prolactin which was normal, FSH - 4, LH - 5, and Estridol 489pg/ml. But sill no periods.
I'm 16, I have only took took shots of depo provera but didn't go on my 3rd shot which was April 29, 2014 because I have had continuous bleeding ever since I first started the depo which was November 2013. It's been over 6month's of non-stop bleeding and it still has not stopped even through I am no longer on the Shots. My periods would be kind of heavy then light then turn brown, then start all over in that order but it has never gone off !!
i was on the depo provera for a while and in my own personal oppinion i hated it i gained lots of weight, major mood swings, no sex drive at all i felt so depressed when i was on it i think i had 3 shots then gave it up the only good thing about the depo you dont have af. some people may like and may have a different opinion but i hated it.
Well, had the first Depo-Provera shot today. Hopefully my body adjusts alright and this helps with keeping the endo at bay. Has anyone used the Depo for endometriosis? What kind of experiences did you have? I'm kinda curious, but also thinking that maybe I jumped into the waters before seeing if there were sharks. :) (To reiterate, I was given three choices: oral BC, Depo, or Lupron. Opted against the Lupron for the vast scary side effects.
You girls have to discontinue Depo Provera at once and I highly recommend never putting any hormones into your bodies ever again. I have experienced a living nightmare from Depo Prover for the past three years. After I got the Depo shot I went home and researched on the web about the drug. I cried for three hours in fear that that could happen to me. What happened was worse. Five days after the shot a menstrual cycle started that would not cease. It wasn't a normal cycle.

And have been having a lot of irregular spotting and cramping. This is the second time I've been on Depo and the first time I had no problems. This time I spot heavily, have severe cramping on my right side and am nauseous. Why?
you can always call your pharmacist and ask to make sure. My husband and I are TTC and I took the Depo shot twice and stopped 11/04 and then started BCP till 8/05 and havent had a period since except with provera. I think the Depo is still in my system and is screwing everything up. I hope the provera works for you and best of luck with the clomid.
Ever since I gave birth and for the first time started Depo Provera (which was 6 months ago) I have not stopped bleeding. HELP!!!
I will never go on Depo Provera again. My daughter was on Depo Provera at college, and discontinued the shot and has lost that weight and is thin again. Fitday.com's free site has helped me keep up with my carb intake, and also tells me how many calories, how much fat etc. I use. It does this automatically when I put my food in for the day. Also Magic Bus has a forum where you can learn how to lose weight quick and even post on a challenge to keep you honest and responsible.
here is my web site and depo group web address. please feel free to take a look and ask me questions!!! love...kimmie http://health.groups.yahoo.
I am having very heavy bleeding (changing every 15 min at times) Thick, dark, large clotting and severe cramping and pain. I have seen my family physician and an OB-GYN. The answers there are "it's because of the shot, everyone is different, it will stop in time." I have been put on 2 different pills. One of them was three pills a day, progressing to one pill a day. I am now on progesterone for five days. I have taken 3 of these pills and there is no relief at all.
I wonder what the difference between the two depo shots are and I wonder why my gyno recommended the other depo shot if the depo-subq provera 104 shot is specific for endo ?
Last night I noticed a clear jelly-like, odorless, mucous discharge when I went to urinate. I know there isn't any chance of pregnancy, but I was on the Depo-Provera for several years and quit taking that in the summer. I switched to birth control pills, but since I'm not in a relationship or even dating, I quit taking that about two months ago.
Well I didnt have AF and most likely it was due to me previously being on Depo Provera in 2004 and BC pills. So in December 2005 my Dr gave me provera. I took it for 7 days 10mg and I got AF 2 days later...usually you get AF anywhere 3 to 10 days after the last pill. Well in Jan 06 still no AF since the one in Dec. So I again took Provera, same dosage. Well in Feb still no AF and I took a HPT and got a BFP!
Has anyone taken Provera, not depo-provera, and had bad cramping. I have taken 4 days of it in a 10-day coarse and have had bad cramping since day 2. Is this normal? My gyn prescribed it for uterine/endometrial thickening. Have not had any bleeding as yet, he is hoping it will wait until at least day 7 or 8 before I start bleeding, but really wants me to go 10 days. Should also let you know I had emdometrial biopsy 5 days ago and had terrible pain and cramping from that.
u could also try speaking with your doctor about the best time 2 try and conceive after stopping depo.
is anyone else having mood swings, low sex drive, bloating, head aches on and off constantly, lowwer abdominal pains ( like small cramping. ) and bleeding.. ill spot for a few days, and then ill have a light seeming period for days, and then spotting again but eventualy stops for a little while then continues, And my breast are getting bigger, but they are not hurrting or swollen just noticed them getting bigger after the deop shot.. Should i be concerned of these signs??
It is now Dec. of 2011 and I am still without a period, still cramping, and have had severe hormonal changes, including the severe onset of hirsutism (hair growth that is dark and coarse in places typical of male body hair, such as on the face and torso) and it is driving me insane. Any suggestions on how to cope with this?
I got preggo on depo and he is 19 months now and he is healthy and rambunkshus let me tell you!~ Anyways he did have a low birth weight i had him at 34 weeks almost 35 and he was 5 lbs 3 oz. I think if i would of went the full 38 to 40 weeks he would of been a big baby!!!
Sorry so long I am just confused on what is going on. Doe anyone else have any experience with Provera ( not depo-provera)? Could these symptoms mean I amdue forAF soon? Any advice would be helpful! I want to call the gyno, but I am pretty sure they will just tell me towait until after 14 days to see ifI get AF. I havent had a AF since nov on provera.

I was on depo for about a month after my son was born, and I said never again. I'm now having alot of problems and I'm not sure if its from that or just other things. I would say go get checked out to be safe. I have my period that last me for 2 months straight but this time it lasted 2 months straight took 1 week off, started back up and now its still on an every other day routine.
