I was on depo provera and gained 40 pounds in 6 months... my dr. told me that the hormones that are in it mess with your body bad... If i were you i would get off it and try a differnt means of birth control... It has also been proven to increasse your chance of Osteoporosis! I also had the same problem as you... almost spotting for 3 months, when that happened (along with the weight gain) my dr. made me get off it...

I was told in some women it could take up to 1 year for it to leave your system and another year to conceive in all honesty i HATE depo-provera and will never take it again for as long as i live

I have been off the Depo shot since may 2011. Have taken 3 pg tests-negative. My period has not returned & I know it will take a while to return. But my breast feel fuller and sometimes get soar. Is it because it may be around the time of my menstral?? I've gone up in bra size and they still feel tight on me??

I am aware that provera is contraindicated in case of hormone-driven breast cancer, but was wondering whether the fact that I am taking tamoxifen as prevention and the fact that provera is given for four months make any difference? I am also wondering if I will have to choose between what cancer to try and prevent, that of the womb or that of the (other) breast? I am 36 and at the moment do not consider hysterectomy an option. not sure about the breast feeding part but a lot of women on this site might agree with me to stay clear of depo-provera. I was on this bc for 2 and a half years and have been ttc for the same length of time with no joy. I was diagnosed with depression at 16 years old when i was on this, i asked the doc if that was the problem and was told no, when the depo eventually cleared from my system so did the depression my family say i was a new person.

So, i'm thinking of switching my birth control. i was on the pill, but sometimes i forgot to take it and i don't take it at the same time always. i was reading up on depo provera...i've heard some great things & then i have heard some complete horror stories! can anyone on this pill tell me about their experiences please? i have read you don't get your period anymore, tons of weight gain, hair loss, increase your risk of getting breast cancer...i mean is all of this true.

ive been on the depo shot for a while my last one was due in Feb and i didnt take it my doctor did a pregnancy test came back neg and now im on my second round of provera also my breast and my underarms were very tender after taking provera it went away wonder when my period will start.

well i thought ok this is my mind messing with me but now i have been freaking out i am supposed to get my period in a week but just got the depo provera 2 days ago now i have been eating everything in sight, headaches, breast tenderness like never before but my main concern is me peeing every 30 min and i have wat seems a bulge i dont know if its the depo or if its a pregnancy and im wondering if i should go get a ultrasound to ease my mind.

has taken me off the Depo Shots and I was put on Birth Control Pills. The blood was very dark red and blood clots. I was given an altrsound was told nothing was wrong. Is this normal with the Depo Provera?

Hi! I'm 26yrs old & have a 6yr old son. I'm currently not on any type of birth control & have not been in a year. I was on the depo-provera shot & was not having a period; however, I have still not had a menstrual cycle & I haven't had a shot in almost 1yr! Im 28 and have never been pregnant slightly overweight but not too concerred and getting it back down periods were always regular and pain free went on for birth control, my husband has 1 child already and decided to start are own family.

u could also try speaking with your doctor about the best time 2 try and conceive after stopping depo.

Hi. If the vaginal bleeding is really heavy, I think you should consider consulting with another gynecologist sooner, rather than waiting until April 1. I'm just concerned that your condition might worsen while you're waiting for your doctor to return. Are you still taking depo-provera? If you're not, I suspect that an abrupt withdrawal of that hormone could have precipitated the vaginal bleeding. But this is just my theory.

Hi, I am not sure of what type of antibiotic might affect other contraceptives like the pill, but I am pretty sure that she will be fine on the shot. I myself had the depo-provera shot about 10 years ago. I only had one shot and I didn't have a period until a whole year later. It actually took me over another year after my period returned before, I finally became pregnant. The depo-provera shot is extremely effective.

s no way to tell for sure, but more and more proof is coming out that autism is NOT linked to vaccines, and because depo provera is an active hormone shot and not a vaccine, I highly doubt that it is the cause. Are your other children girls by any chance? Very often a family that has an autistic child only has 1 (almost always a boy), and the rest of the children are "normal". They are thinking more and more that it's a genetic mutation.
