Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera and blood clots

depo-provera

Avatar n tn has taken me off the Depo Shots and I was put on Birth Control Pills. The blood was very dark red and blood clots. I was given an altrsound was told nothing was wrong. Is this normal with the Depo Provera?
Avatar f tn It stops for a few days and then starts right back up again. I gush blood and soak through pads. Huge blood clots fall right out of me and are the size of a medium banana! Very dark red in color. What's wrong with me? Please help!
551587 tn?1215019483 I am 20 years old and had a pacemaker implanted almost eight months ago to correct SVT and A-Fib after two unsuccessful cardiac ablations. I began taking Depo Provera about six months ago. About three weeks ago, I began experiencing sharp chest pain on almost a daily basis; however, it generally subsides after 20-30 minutes. During this time, I can also feel my heart racing. I have heard before that Depo can mess with your heart and lungs. Is this a possibility?
Avatar f tn s no way to tell for sure, but more and more proof is coming out that autism is NOT linked to vaccines, and because depo provera is an active hormone shot and not a vaccine, I highly doubt that it is the cause. Are your other children girls by any chance? Very often a family that has an autistic child only has 1 (almost always a boy), and the rest of the children are "normal". They are thinking more and more that it's a genetic mutation.
Avatar f tn I have been having light bleeding since November 8, along with really bad pelvic pain, blood clots, bloating, fatigue, weakness, and feeling like I am getting sick. I have used a nasal spray (DDAVP) for three weeks, but the bleeding did not stop. I tried doubling up on the nasal spray since I was prescribed the wrong strength, but it did not help. I had my second Depo Provera shot on December 7. I thought it would help make the bleeding stop, but I am still bleeding.
Avatar f tn I received my first Depo Provera shot in November 30th prior to this date I had already gotten my period. It’s now January 18th and I started my “period” (if you can even call it that) a couple of days ago. I have little to no active bleeding, I’m soooo bloated, it started with brown discharge, I can hardly eat which means I’m not pooping, etc... this morning though, I passed a blood clot in my urine and nearly immediately I was in instant pain. Is this normal? Should I be worried?
Avatar f tn Hello, Your gynecologist is doing the right thing by prescribing depo provera and iron pills. The primary treatment for patients with large or symptomatic fibroids is surgery. Hysterectomy (surgical removal of the entire uterus) is the most frequent operative technique used to treat this disorder. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn Hello all, I'm new to this but have a few questions. First a little background about me. I just turned 30 in september and have been married for a little over a year. My husband and I are ttc. Back in April of this year I had surgery to remove cysts from mybtube. I had been on depo since December of 14 and once I stopped august of 16 I never had a cycle. Long story short I had the surgery thinking that's why my cycle was non existent. Non the less I never had a cycle..
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago after passing a blood clot the size of a grape fruit since then randomly I will pass blood clots, but they are not quite that size. Tuesday I started my period and it has been heavier than normal. I am passing about 7-8 clots a day. but tonight in the last 30 minutes I have had about 10 clots pass. I can feel them falling out of my body and they are about the size of 2 or 3 grapes. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn I had that shot too a little over a year or 2 ago and that is when I started the severe periods and huge clots AND the weight gain! I have gained over 50-60 pounds in the last 2 years and it really sucks. Did the doctor say how long that shot stays with you? Like the after effects? I found out last year that I was anemic when I went to the ER for my bleeding they said I had lost so much blood I almost had a heart attack!
Avatar f tn t usually get blood clots in my period at all, and as I was surprised to get my period as iv been on depo- provera I decided maybe I was unlucky enough to get it even though you usually don't (and I didn't the first time on this contraception). And it was such a heavy painful period so I sat down on the toilet for a while and passed a quite large blood clot, it was about 2cm wide and about 5cm long in a sort of c looking shape. I'm feeling a little worried, what could this mean?

Avatar f tn AT FIRST IT WAS A HEAVY FLOW WITH LARGE BLOOD CLOTS UNTIL I WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND ALL THEY DID THERE WAS GIVE ME A HIGH DOSAGE SHOT OF THE DEPO BIRTH CONTROL SHOT WHICH SLOWED IT DOWN. NOW I AM BEGINNING TO CRAMP AND PASS BLOOD CLOTS AGAIN. I HAVE MADE MANY GYNO APOOINTMENTS BUT THEY TELL ME THE CAN'T DO ANYTHING(PAP SMEAR) MAINLY BECAUSE I AM BLEEDING. COME BACK WHEN I AM NOT BLEEDING WHICH I DON"T KNOW WHEN THAT WILL BE. SO I HAVE TO LIVE WITH UNTIL THEN.
Avatar f tn i have tried everything, from lupron, to laparoscopies, to yaz, to smoking marijuana - currently i am on Depo Provera and have been for the past year and a half. I am noticing a lot of side affects from this as time goes on, and unfortunately for me this has been the only thing that even remotely helps, and i still have a lot of pain.
Avatar f tn i think you shud talk to your doctor, i dont think this is normal
Avatar n tn I have had three EKGs, an echo stress test, several d dimers (one being positive), three chest x-rays, and 24 hr halter monitor. I discontinued my depo provera shot hoping this was just negative side effects from the birth control two months ago. May I mention I've had constant bleeding/spotting for four months. Needless to say the symptoms continue and I am just concerned that they never searched anywhere else in my body for clots or research as to what caused my elevated d dimer.
Avatar f tn Also a lot of the symptoms you are relating to could also be side effects you experience while on bc, i was diagnosed with depression 5 years ago and asked if it could have been caused by Depo-Provera and was told no, however when i read about it on the net i found it was a side effect to the depo-provera, when i came off of depo the depression lifted. If you miss another cycle i would ask to have your bc changed as this may be the problem, best of luck to you whatever the outcome!!
494669 tn?1275362475 I have been off Depo-Provera for 11 months now and still haven't conceived. Every month i have the same symptoms you are describing and every month i have the same negative result. I was also told afetr i came off the injection it could take me anything from a year to 2 years to conceive.
Avatar n tn I'm 22 yrs old and was taking Provera to regulate my cycle. I was on Depo on and off for 6 years and have been off it for 20 months straight now. I used an AH ovulation kit and was not ovulating so the doc recommended Provera and Chlomid. I've been off Provera for 3 weeks waiting to start Chlomid, but I still haven't gotten my period. I just took an HPT at it was negative. Could I be pregnant even with that HPT negative? My nurse seemed concerned that it wasn't a blood test...
Avatar f tn The mini-pill is less effective than regular preparations. Depo-provera is effective, but watch out for weight gain that could worsen blood pressure issues, and take calcium supplements in addition. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn I have a history of anxiety and depression. Is depo-provera a good choice or a bad choice for birth control? Thank you!
Avatar m tn Hi, my girlfriend lives overseas and she's on depo provera. She gets the shot once or twice a year only (not every 12 or 13 weeks). She has it injected one month in advance, every time before I travel overseas to visit her and have sex. I know depo provera meant to provide over 99% protection after 7 days, but we like to be extra cautious and wait a month before having sex. She had her last shot in September, and I visited her nearly a month later in October.
Avatar f tn m not sure if this is related, but I stopped taking the Depo Provera shot in September and still have not started my period (its been 6 months and I've taken several perscribed treatments to try and start it with no luck and I know I'm not pregnant). I'm only 17 years old so I'm not sure what I'm at risk for at my age, but I'm starting to get EXTREMELY worried. Please help out with any advice if you can!
Avatar f tn I HAVE IRREGULAR PERIODS AND HAVENT HAD ONE SINCE JANUARY. MY DOCTOR PUT ME ON PROVERA AND I TOOK IT FOR 10 DAYS. I STARTED MY PERIOD ON JUNE 3 AND I AM STILL BLEEDING HEAVY WITH CRAMPS.
