Avatar f tn I want to know what are the risk factors involed during the dental scaling or cleaning. The equipments which are used during cleaning, are diposable (like injection needles) or not? If not, then how is it ensured that there is no chance of any kind of infaction (some bacterias or virus may survive at boiling temperature of water also). Please guide me.
Avatar f tn This combination of medications is used to treat mild-to-moderate pain associated with conditions such as headache, dental pain, muscle pain, painful menstruation, pain following an accident, and pain following operations. The half-life of acetaminophen is 1-4 hours......in other words, approximately every 4 hours, 1/2 the dose in your body will be excreted. This process will continue until all the medication is out of your system.
Avatar n tn 2, if the virus would be inactive after it left a human body for a few minutes, how come so many cases of HIV infection because of blood transfusion or operations with unstrictly sterilized instruments? 3, if the virus can keep active only in an environment of low temperature, how can virus on the dental instruments and razors infect another?
Avatar f tn You should consult with doctor, Although it will take time, If you want to take are of it as soon as possible, take proper precautions.
Avatar f tn ll hold events or may know of events which provide free dental care for those in need. There is also the possibility of a local dental school but it wouldn't be free treatment but rather discounted treatment. Also, have you tried contacting a local free medical clinic? They may be able to see you and get you a prescription for antibiotics and pain medications. Or they may have some on hand. Hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Okay I've been reading everyone's post for weeks now and have gone from a slight worried to a 10 anxiety because of conflicting statistics, on when someone should get tested and how accurate these results are. I am a dental assistant, I'm very careful and ALWAYS wear latex gloves during procedures and during cleanup.
Avatar n tn EVE, please ignore this guy, i've had 4 operations on my left hand. you need a orthopedic hand doctor, one that has is well known. please don't go to the nearest hand doctor unless he's the best. my first hand doctor that was close to the house and i did no research on him and i'm sorry i didn't check this guy out first. check out the schooling the hand doctor had and that he's certified to work on hands.
Avatar m tn t use a mask, and it would not be unreasonable to ask him why he does not do so, or to wear one in future operations on you. However, the purpose of masking during surgery is not to protect patients from blood-borne infections like HIV. The intent is to prevent bacterial wound infections (e.g., staph, strep); and to protect the surgeon from the patient's body secretions.
1530342 tn?1405016490 , plants shut down after an extended stand-off with the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union. That Hostess company has almost completely wound down its operations, selling its assets in pieces. The bulk of the Hostess Snacks brands the public knows best -- Twinkies, Cup Cakes, Ho Hos, Zingers, Ding Dongs and Suzy Q’s -- were purchased in April for $410 million by hedge funds Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co.

Avatar m tn I had 3 operations in the first 5 years without success (it just came back) but a breakthrough came 4 years ago when my ENT specialist put me on lansoprazole, a PPI, believing that it was probably due to acid reflux (although I had no symptoms). The granuloma disappeared over the next 6 months. However, it sometimes comes back, or at least the symptoms do, every few months, but go again after 2 or 3 weeks. But over the last week or so symptoms have come back with a vengeance.
Avatar n tn If you are concerned about finances, you can contact your local dental society and see if there are any dentists in your local area that may do more affordable or free dental care. Checking a local dental school is also a possibility as they are more affordable but because they are students, the work would take more time.
Avatar f tn have a bridge put in, plus a deep cleaning before they do it, the total cost is apprx. $3,000.00, but with my dental plan it brought it down to $2,148.00, does this sound outrageous to anyone or is this what is the normal?
Avatar f tn I think it depends what kind of job you have. With my first I was a receptionist in a dental office and I worked up until two weeks before he was due. I would have worked til the end but I got really swollen and my dr said I should be in bed rest those last two weeks. This time I have a small housecleaning business and its very physical and getting almost impossible to do some things (I'm 30 weeks).
601038 tn?1240252893 I need a couple of operations and deal with pain on a daily basis and I have found that exersize has been my biggest help dealing with the pain. WhooooHooooooo!!!! To all who are having a hard time, trust me it does pass and it is sooo worth it :) Keep on keeping on!!!!!!
Avatar f tn m so afraid to take it because of the fear of how long it will be before I find a job. Even if I find a job I will try to at least apply for Care Credit to help pay for the treatments even if I don't necessarily have dental insurance to cover it yet at that point.
Avatar f tn You are smart to recognize that you've got a problem. For one, NO dental issue should require pain meds for a year. The answer to dental pain is always to fix the problem. I'm amazed at how many people (addiction issues or not) think they HAVE to have a narcotic after dental work. I've had extensive dental procedures and have never been Rx'ed a narcotic for pain. Motrin and tylenol always keeps me comfortable.
Avatar f tn 6 years ago I had my cheekbone smashed by a hockey ball. I have two operations to fix the side of my face but as I had severed my infraorbital nerve had severe nerve damage. I had terrible ant like sensation and hyper sensetive areas across my nose, lip and side of my face. I had further surgeries where they tried to freeze the nerve and then tried to obliterate the nerve. However, after every attempt the same horrible sensation comes back.
Avatar f tn Do you brush after every meal, floss once or twice a day? That's the starting point. If your dental hygiene's been so poor that you're experiencing gum problems at this young age, you might also consider adding use of a Water Pik and warm salt water (more teeth are lost to gum disease than cavities). The dental school recommendation's a good one. You may have quite a bit of work needed (so, ask for a printed summary and which items have the highest priority to be dealt with).
