Common Questions and Answers about Dental insurance you can use immediately

insurance

Avatar f tn I have had one tooth come out and currently have three that are loose and are preventing me from eating anything solid. I think I might have periodontal gum disease advanced stage. I am homeless with no insurance or income. I don't know what to do. How can I get dental care for this immediately? Any assistance programs or grants or something? I've looked up stuff til my eyes hurt and haven't been able to find assistance. Have pics of teeth if needed.
Avatar f tn If cost is a major issue and you live in the US, you may be able to find a dental school or a dental hygiene school to find treatment at reduced rates. They are very thorough and these students will take care of you. They are checked and supervised by licensed dentists or hygienists. The only major drawback is that it tends to take longer to get the complete treatment done. Another option may be to check with the local dental society to see what resources they have available.
Avatar n tn Is there a product I can use to help guard that area, so my tongue doesn’t get cut? I don’t have health insurance and I don’t make much money, so I can’t easily go to the dentist. I haven’t been to the dentist I need over 10years. That’s how long it’s been since I had health insurance. My the are in bad shape, my gums have been receding for years and I just don’t know what to do. I’m scared my teeth are going to fall out and I’m only 32 years old. I’m so embarrassed.

Avatar n tn An EPO is an Exclusive Provider Organization. As a member of an EPO, you can use the doctors and hospitals within the EPO network, but cannot go outside of the network for care. So there are no out-of-network benefits other than life threatening emergencies. PPO is a Preferred Provider Organization which allows you, as a member, to visit whatever in-network physician or healthcare provider you wish without first requiring a referral from a primary care physician.
Avatar n tn Can you get a metallic taste from dental crowns? I had crown work done at the end of last year and started getting a horrible metal/metallic taste in my mouth in the beginning of March and I still have it in the beginning of May. Is there any connection between my new crowns and this taste? It has been two months now and I cannot live with this taste any longer...everything I eat taste like metal! This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/421232'>Crown rejection??
Avatar m tn t decide if I should go with Aetna High deductable plan 3000 or something like a Plan 100 2500 deductable from United HealthOne as long as I can get a HSA with either. It seems like UHO has a dental plan that is better at twice the price but I not sure if I will be ahead. What are something other things I should try to calculate in this? Am I doing this the right way or anyone have some suggestions. Please. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hey Sarah I too am a college student looking for health insurance, I was curios to know what you chose and what worked for you. Also did you add dental to your health insurance, I cant find many quotes with both to know how much together they would cost.
Avatar m tn Well, if its a bridge vs implant, then the implant would be the more expensive alternative due to the lack of insurance coverage. Unfortunately most policies with dental insurance don't cover dental implants. Still, a dental implant should last longer than a bridge and it would preserve #13 as well. As a long term investment, a dental implant is more ideal. It may cost more upfront but it should, in theory, last longer as well although no one can guarantee that.
Avatar n tn I think that your history of tooth decay dictates the amount and frequency of x-rays that are needed. That being said it is vitaly important that your periodondal condition must be monitored regularly. In my practice I take a full mouth series every 5 years. I don't think you can treat your health that being both medical and dental by the insurance you have or don't have. You are doing yourself a disservice. The least expensive dentistry is preventive dentistry.
Avatar f tn the rest are all broken off or were pulled. I have Medicare only, no dental. See if you can find a dentist/oral surgeon that will state the inteferon does cause these problems...or keep appealing until the insurance company gives. It's an uphill battle but it's not totally out of the realm of possibility to get it covered under medical...some of the expenses. You're not alone, good luck!
Avatar m tn t really have specific answers for you but can tell you that treatment for HCV can cause dental problems for some. It is good to have a dentist onboard when treating.
Avatar n tn , I have no dental insurance yet I have to be put to sleep for anything cause I have a history of punching my doctors. Eh an can I use a nail file to file down my moulars an wisdom teeth? I think I grind my teeth at night cause they are almost razor sharp I bit my cheeks/tounge almost everytime I eat something...
Avatar f tn Get a second opinion and also look in the telephone directory or search on line to see if there is a dentistry school near you that you can contact if they can fit your husband in as soon as possible. They would certainly be a lot cheaper than the dentist.
1027870 tn?1252056250 yes you too can have a dental plan that most reputable dentists will not accept! i would love to go to a dental mill full of new, inexperienced dentists.
Avatar f tn The Commit Lozenge and the Nicorette Gum are addictions in themselves, so technically what you are doing is just trading addictions. You need to stop the Commit and you need to educate yourself about the evils of smoking and why you should quit and stay quit. Go to whyquitdotcom and look through the "Motivation" stories, read the "Education" articles and ask your mom to go outside to smoke.
358699 tn?1297646442 Since I haven't had dental insurance in many years, I've neglected my dental health. I do brush my teeth everyday, floss, and use mouthwash. Last year I had a back molar removed because I cracked it and could not afford a crown. My middle teeth on the bottom are beginning to shift. I had braces as a teenager and my teeth were very straight. My gums bleed on the bottom every time I brush. I know this is a sign a periodontal disease or maybe gingivitis?
Avatar m tn I am a disabled 45 year old woman with diabetes, COPD, MVP, PCOS, and kidney disease. I only have Medicare and NO dental insurance. I have watched my teeth and gums go from bad to worse. No mater what I've done to care for them at home, I now have periodontal disease. I've not had it diagnosed but it is obvious. I have no way to go to a dentist. Is there anything I can do at home?
Avatar m tn Hello, Gum bleeding can have different reasons. Are you taking any new medication ? Are you taking Aspirin ? Are you flossing daily ? Are you going to your cleanings every 6 month ? I had bleeding gums too. My Periodontist said I have some mild gum disease. I had to get a deep cleaning and some antibiotics on some areas. And I no bleeding since. If you have dental insurance I would go to the dentist or periodontist.
Avatar m tn As Lizzie rightly advised you it is totally up to you as to use a dental dam or not. If you are in a monogamous relationship then I see no reason to use a dental dam.
Avatar n tn I have dental insurance but as we all know the coverage has been less and less over the past few years so I looked into dental discount programs. Did you know that some dental providers will accept both insurance and a dental discount plan togeather? It took me about 5 phone calls but I know it was worth it. On my first visit I had 3-cavitys filled. The cost after my insurance was $144. factor in the dental discount plan and my out of pocket cost was only $14!!! Check it out at http://www.
Avatar m tn I've never read that anywhere. If you are that fearful, wear boxer shorts or ask your partner to wear them too. Some guys wear a dental dam near the base of their penis since condoms don't go that far down. Basically, cover up as much genital skin as you can. And never cuddle naked too. This may be bad for true intimacy, but we know that genital skin to skin contact is how this spreads.
Avatar f tn Thank you! But how about the blood is still fresh? Will blood lose the ability to transmit immediately outside the Body.
Avatar n tn I realize that my dental insurance is NOT my health insurance.
Avatar n tn The second is if you are anywhere near a dental school I think it would behoove you to see if your son can be seen in either the post graduate pediodontic or prosthodontic clinics. it sounds like a difficult case and should be treated by specialists. The other possibility would be a teaching hospital in your area with a dental residency program. My first choice would be the dental school.
