Common Questions and Answers about Dental insurance veneers

insurance

Avatar n tn If you consulted with your doctor, and they recommended crowns, I would go with crowns. Depending on your case, of course, there may be a bite issues or crowding issue that may prevent use of veneers. Also, if you are expecting dental insurance to pay anything towards it, you would need to have crowns placed & not veneers. Insurance considers veneers cosmetic & crowns restorative. Normally, ceramic crowns are all ceramic & do not have any metal included.
Avatar f tn s almost impossibl eto get dentists to admit that dental materials can cause allergic reactions.I had the problems when I had veneers. I let the dentist know I was allergic to acrylic. He did not tell me that there was acrylic in the cement for the veneers even after I complained about an odd cottony sensation in my mouth after they were placed. He told me that it was likely a side effect from all the anesthetic he gave me and that it would go away. It didn't.
Avatar n tn I have been taking advil for two months while waiting for the permant veneers, and now since I have the permenant veneers for a week. Is this normal for veneers? Did the Dr. cause this? He says he does everything "in-house" and that he can do the root canal on me. Would you let him do it or should I go to an endodontist? Are the front teeth harder to do than the back teeth? What do I need to worry about. What should I ask....Please advise. I'm going there tomorrow.
Avatar m tn I am considering having some cosmetic surgery done, veneers in the front. My teeth are nice and strait, but my canine teeth are a little big, kinda giving a dracula look. I have heard bad things about having veneers done and also heard they dont last very long. Are there any serious complications with veneers? How can I find a refutable cosmetic oral surgeon, via internet?
Avatar m tn Tmj stands for tempotomandibular joints. Jaw soreness is one of the symptoms of tempotomandibular disorders. Seeing an tmj specialist is advised.
Avatar n tn I had 6 porcelain veneers fitted to my teeth about 6 months ago, my gums are now very red and bleed if I apply any pressure while brushing. It seems to have gotten worse over time. I floss daily and use a soft brush, I've tried an electric toothbrush and mouth wash, but nothing works. I'm worried that I must have an allergy to the glue or the veneers and that it will never go away.
Avatar n tn Don't know if this is your area or not. How is it decided whether you can have simply have veneers, or if braces are required? I have crooked teeth that have stains I'm told can't be corrected by any whitening process (medication staining) from tetracycline. My reg dentist isn't sure if I can just have veneers but admits its not her area (crowding of the top front and bottom 4 teeth, couple overlapping teeth).
6643302 tn?1383320128 Try an in office dental bleaching. Otherwise the only way to get extremely white teeth is to do veneers, which are made out of porcelain.
Avatar f tn I had several upper crowns (replaced old veneers) put on by a dentist, and then have had sensitivity for eight months.... the office tried other therapies and eventually performed one root canal on a tooth with a dead nerve... my insurance denied the procedure (not sure if its not a covered bene or if theres a waiting period) but regardless the office is taking no responsibility for the root canal... being that the pain wa a result of the crowns procedure...
Avatar f tn s causing the staining. If its an extrinsic (outside) stain, then bleaching or a dental cleaning and polish could help alot. If its intrinsic (inside) bleaching may make a difference but it could also be that your teeth are naturally more yellow. The only option to completely hide the discoloration is to do veneers, which are thin pieces of porcelain that are bonded to your teeth and hide your color.
Avatar n tn 2 weeks ago I had 8 teeth prepared for veneers under general anaesthesia for 4 hours. Several days ago I noticed a feeling of facial numbness including neck and ears similar to coming out of a typical local dental injection. It's very uncomfortable. Is it from the dental procedure - and is there something my dentist can do about it.
Avatar n tn t help you there, you need to get to the dentist to repair or more likely remake the veneer. Veneers are very difficult to repair once fractured. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Is feeling and veneer placing comparably equal in that sense or you would choose one option over another one? And also, do you find veneers the best solution in the dental world for correcting one's smile, or there are some other great ways to correct teeth that for some reason are not perfect? Mine are missing some parts (in the inner corners area, right in the center of my smile:), so filling was really a necessity.
Avatar n tn I had porcelain veneers placed in july 2009 and have had ongoing problems ever since. I am desperate need of finding someone that has had the same problem. I need questions answered and a dr or dentist name that will believe me. I have been to numerous doctors with all kinds of medical issues but no one can pinpoint or see that the problem could be a cement allergy. The dentist that put them on thinks my story is crazy.
Avatar n tn Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble. Friday (5/25/7), I had 20 of my teeth prepared for veneers and my temporaries are a bit sensitive to hot/cold but no real pain to speak of. I have to also watch what I eat. I had three of them fall off the first night, but no problems since. I can't imagine why you are still in temporaries? I will have my permanent veneers in three weeks. I have had both of my jaw joints replaced for TMJ and also grind my teeth.
Avatar m tn They may be small craze lines that we don't treat but they may be starting to stain. Frequently dental checkups would help. Bleaching could be an option. But doing veneers or fillings would be excessive I would think.
Avatar n tn I am 47 years old and healthy. I have never had any cavities or dental work other than normal cleaning every 6 months. I wear a tooth guard at nights to protect from grinding of my teeth but there is still wear evident on the tips of my teeth. I have receeding gums but no peridontal disease, I have been told it is from clenching my teeth excesively. My gums have receeded to the point that I can see where the enamel stops. I am in no discomfort but I am concerned about the future.
789066 tn?1239872611 You should be able to go back to him to correct it as you adjust to your bite. I've had a lot of dental work. As a patient, I've never had my bite correct right after i left because my mouth was still numb. I think I have the best dentist in Las Vegas because he was the one that let me know these things and that I should come back. Did you have crowns done on your front teeth? I have veneers on my fronts and crowns on my back teeth.
Avatar n tn I have now had 8 incisors replaced with porcelain crowns or veneers as a result of severe wear from bruxism. My final crowns were placed 2 weeks ago. I have had my bite adjusted twice since the procedure, and have been wearing my bite guard every night. I still have severe pain in many of the replaced teeth. If I drink hot or cold fluids, acidic drinks or eat something sugary, I have sensitivity that lingers for hours afterward. I'm feeling very frustrated and helpless.
Avatar n tn I have been interested in veneers or lumineers now for years but I am very scared! Scared to shave that much of my teeth down and scared that they will not fit "right" therefore changing the shape of my smile. I would most likely have my front 6 done to make them all nice and matching. I just can't find a dentist who uses both techniques - only one or the other, which means they highly recommend their technique because its what they do and talk poorly about the other! Any input?
Avatar n tn You could possibly look at doing veneers although they are more expensive as a treatment than bleaching.
