Avatar n tn rj47, I am not sure where you are from, but there is a good dental clinic in South Carolina. If you don't have dental insurance or can't afford to pay in one lump sum, they have a payment plan for any work done. I went there on Wednesday and had dentures put in on the top and a partial on the bottom. My total cost was 525.00. That includes everything.

Avatar m tn I am filing a VA claim for disability now 17 years after I left the military for one reason because I was diagnosed with Hep C in 2002. In 2012 I found out my best friend and shipmate in the Navy has Hep C my question is does any other Navy Submariners have Hep C? Let me know. VA and the gov't have done studies and show that a large percentage of Vietnam era Vets have Hep C -- testing was not done then.
Avatar m tn The medications I do get outside of the VA are cheaper than getting them through the VA ($3 for Part D vs $8 for VA) Plus the 90 day scripts are even cheaper. The part D plan I selected has no deductible so I know what it will cost me up front for my RX but there are also plans that cost less monthly with a deductible.
Avatar f tn It depends on the plan you pick but most do. I have Community Health Choice and it covers all of that.
Avatar f tn But of course, go directly to your preferred dental clinic. Any tooth problem I had before, my alexandria va dentist assist me immediately.
Avatar f tn Army Vet, on baby number 2, and no I'm not getting help from the VA with my pregnancy. I have been through the VA myself and I haven't got many good experiences with them. My husband is also an Army Vet, he has a really good job and he got us all insurance, so it's treating us well, and I'm 6months now and only had to pay about 130 out of pocket. And the insurance company sent me a free electric double breasted breast pump. Love this insurance.
517090 tn?1256727302 I just switch my medical care to VA. They took me off Oxycotin 20mg, 2 morning 2 evening. Now I am on Morphine S04 30MG 1 morning 1 evening. My pain has increased. I am afraid to ask for more, because I don't want them to think I am an addict. Anyway, I went an had dental surgory, and told him I didn't need pain meds because I was already on Morphine. Let me tell you, I was in the worse pain in a long time. I had to call him and get some Hydrocodone, and that helped.
Avatar m tn DAYTON, Ohio -- The Veterans Administration said Wednesday that at least nine patients who received dental care at the Dayton VA Medical Center tested positive for Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C following preliminary testing. http://www.whiotv.com/news/27051601/detail.html Maybe this is more of a cause then is admitted.
Avatar f tn Every vet who receives their medical coverage from the VA will now be able to get treatment so that is still very good news for those treated by the VA as they previously were like many medical insurances denying treatment except for those who were F3 to F4 Just not a way to do an end run around your insurance provider if you have insurance that won't cover. Still there is hope that all insurances will come around at some point.
Avatar n tn hi, i don't have any dental insurance so I need to pick and choose which tests and procedures at the dentist are really needed. I ask you this because I hope to find unbiased opinion. Last time I skipped the peridontal xray, but got the cavity xray and cleaning...he found 2 tiny cavities that ran me $400 out of my pocket but later a hygenist said maybe that wasn't necessary as the decay could have been reversed... So what do I "really" need..
Avatar f tn I have a 15 cm pelvic cyst and Need surgery .. I don't have any income or insurance. I live in Norfolk VA usa. Does anyone know of a program that would help me?
1041989 tn?1253189718 There are many emergency Dental Centers around, can you go to one of these? I would go back to the VA ER, once they see how swollen your face is, and your pain, they will help you. Take lots to read, a snack, and be prepared to stay as long as needed to be seen. Thanks for your service to our country! I don't feel our veterans get the respect or rewards they've earned, which is shameful!!!!
645800 tn?1466860955 Dennis--I know the VA fails its "customers" consistently. It needs to be fixed. You probably don't even have the energy for this, but your congresspeople need to know--from you and anyone else--how the VA is trying to jerk people around. Like I said, their faults are endemic. The things going down at Walter Reed were just awful. They need to take care of those who served, and they need to do it by doing the right thing.
1027870 tn?1252056250 yes you too can have a dental plan that most reputable dentists will not accept! i would love to go to a dental mill full of new, inexperienced dentists.
Avatar m tn I have 9 stents in my RCA,for the most part I am in fairly good shape,I am having Dental Implants(6) of them on 01/19/11,is it safe for me,My Dr.is a Board Certified Oral surgeon with the VA Hospital in Memphis,Tn.
Avatar n tn the VA has fairly good liver transplant benefits but is limited by having to send pts only to certain parts of the country for the actual transplant. their post-transplant medication benefits are the best around so you are safe. i think it is ALWAYS better to have additional insurance however as it would allow you pick a potential liver transplant center near to where you reside.
Avatar f tn s been about two weeks now. I did set an appointment with my doctor through the VA, unfortunately he wasnt in and I saw someone else. I told them I was mainly concerned it was strept though i have no pain. It's just there. The doctor looked at it for a minute and said it could be leukoplakia. I recently have dental work done about 45 days ago and it wasnt there. Also my VA doctor did a look at my throat because I had the flu during that 45 day window (gotta love being a parent).
147426 tn?1317265632 didn't know about that. i did apply. had a pysch consult. didn't need a consult for the neuro stuff - i guess the records from the va and other docs helped with that. no, they called and asked if i had any other paperwork due to what the va sent them was not helpful. gee, can't imagine that. so i sent them the va paperwork they didn't send and from non-va doctors. i was only able to wear my happy face for a few hours, then i kinda lost it.
Avatar n tn I have dental insurance but as we all know the coverage has been less and less over the past few years so I looked into dental discount programs. Did you know that some dental providers will accept both insurance and a dental discount plan togeather? It took me about 5 phone calls but I know it was worth it. On my first visit I had 3-cavitys filled. The cost after my insurance was $144. factor in the dental discount plan and my out of pocket cost was only $14!!! Check it out at http://www.
Avatar n tn My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.
Avatar n tn I am disabled on Original Medicare, have no intent to buy private insurance... I am wondering, is it possible for an individual to get real, stand alone dental insurance? Everything I've looked at caps yearly benefits at $1,000 or so which is completely insulting considering the premiums are close to half of that. Where can you buy dental insurance that gives you "REAL" coverage?
1016618 tn?1420553262 Went and filed for VA Medical benefits today. They said I make to much money but they also said I could file for help cause I was a veteran of the Vietnam era. I was in the Marine Corps from 1972 to 1975. Anyone get any assistance from the VA that is under like circustance?
Avatar m tn re a veteran and have Hep C and believe you contracted it during your service, there are ways you can receive compensation. It might be difficult and require many years of visits to the VA and being seen by doctor after doctor and putting up a "fight" and not giving up - ever - but don't totally discount the idea that you possibly CAN get some kind of service connection disability. You say "close contact." How close?
Avatar f tn Ok mommys that have medicaid . Will I get denied if I already have dental insurance but not health insurance?
Avatar m tn Hello, I can't remember the last time I was at the dentist but at the time the dentist said I had no cavities. Now I'm 21 and I have a cavity in on of my top molars. I don't know what to do, I don't have dental insurance and I really don't have the money to get it fixed. I don't want to wait any longer and have it get any worse but I don't have the extra arm and a leg the dentists charge.
