Avatar n tn hi, i don't have any dental insurance so I need to pick and choose which tests and procedures at the dentist are really needed. I ask you this because I hope to find unbiased opinion. Last time I skipped the peridontal xray, but got the cavity xray and cleaning...he found 2 tiny cavities that ran me $400 out of my pocket but later a hygenist said maybe that wasn't necessary as the decay could have been reversed... So what do I "really" need..
Avatar n tn I have dental insurance but as we all know the coverage has been less and less over the past few years so I looked into dental discount programs. Did you know that some dental providers will accept both insurance and a dental discount plan togeather? It took me about 5 phone calls but I know it was worth it. On my first visit I had 3-cavitys filled. The cost after my insurance was $144. factor in the dental discount plan and my out of pocket cost was only $14!!! Check it out at http://www.
1027870 tn?1252056250 yes you too can have a dental plan that most reputable dentists will not accept! i would love to go to a dental mill full of new, inexperienced dentists.
743063 tn?1232667064 I had my wisdom teeth pulled about 10 years ago and , the bottom right one has kept swelling up and hurting over the years and the other day I felt a little somthing sticking out of it and pulled it out with tweezers and now there is a huge hole there and it hurts like the day it was pulled ! What could this be ? And what should I do ? I still feel like somthing is in there but I am afraid to poke around .
667078 tn?1316000935 I am going through a similar thing in Maine. They want all people over 65 to be part of Medicare. Isn't that age discrimination? I've not been able to find much on the internet. Have you checked out your state laws?
Avatar m tn I am so far a healthy 43 year old/m in pa. I am trying to decide which health insurance plan will be good for my situation and I am looking for some opinions here. This Month my group plan ends and I can take cobra but there is no financial benefit to taking my same PPO plan which gives me to price break for being unemployed. So I am trying to look at this at a meaningful way. Since my PPO was $475/m plue $29 dental I just cant be paying that on my own now.
Avatar n tn I am just getting my own dental insurance next month, so I believe I would have to wait a year to see a periodontist with this particular insurance. If you have any suggestions on how to keep my gums as healthy as possible, so that I can avoid more problems, please let me know. Thanks so much.
Avatar m tn I recently broke a molar in my lower right quadrant, my dentist is recommending a root canal and a crown. My insurance company called me today to say it will not be approved because I'm over 21 yrs. I'm 56 year old female with no other dental issues. Doctors, what gives with this company? Is this normal and what can I do about it? Anyone else who have been through this issue and can offer some insight, I would appreciate your comments.
Avatar n tn My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.
Avatar n tn I am disabled on Original Medicare, have no intent to buy private insurance... I am wondering, is it possible for an individual to get real, stand alone dental insurance? Everything I've looked at caps yearly benefits at $1,000 or so which is completely insulting considering the premiums are close to half of that. Where can you buy dental insurance that gives you "REAL" coverage?
Avatar f tn I started to work out, dropped all the weight gained from the Fentanyl and the other 8 meds I needed to take due to the side effects of the Fentanyl, and now am on two patches (50 and 12) and on a razors edge as pain goes. Recently had heaps of dental work done. Crowns replaced, amalamates removed etc and my THS went through the roof. The hospital over-seer will not approve my back surgery ( all cardio bloods etc are EXCELLENT) and everyone is amazed I am 65 years old. What is going on?
946207 tn?1246134385 My mouth is full of dental problems- I have 8 abcessed teeth. One bad infection is in one of my front teeth that hurts all the way up under my sinus cavity. I HAVE TO be sedated at the dentist (been this way since I was young- had abusive dentist when I was little girl who caused me alot of pain). NO low-income dental clinics will sedate me and I can't afford a regular dentist/oral surgeon/sedation. I am 43 yo tomorrow and am going to die from these infections in my mouth.
Avatar n tn drank non-diet soda by the gallon, and rarely i am assuming brushed his teeth. Now he is jobless and broke, no health or dental insurance and too old to put on our insurance policies....Any suggestions of what to do? We certainly cannot afford the cost it will take to correct the problem. I am just sick over this! Any help appreciated!!!
Avatar n tn I haven’t been to the dentist I need over 10years. That’s how long it’s been since I had health insurance. My the are in bad shape, my gums have been receding for years and I just don’t know what to do. I’m scared my teeth are going to fall out and I’m only 32 years old. I’m so embarrassed. I don’t make much money so I simply just can’t afford to see a dentist.
Avatar n tn care for your teeth/gums is usually considered dental care and will be covered by you detnal insurance only, regardless of other systemic conditions one may have. You are right when you say gingivitis and diabetes are related, but just because you have diabetes does not mean your gingivitis stems from it. most adults have gingivitis, which is a mild inflammation of the gum tissue. It should be able to be addressed within the parameters of your $1000 maximum. treatment is not that involved.
358699 tn?1297646442 Since I haven't had dental insurance in many years, I've neglected my dental health. I do brush my teeth everyday, floss, and use mouthwash. Last year I had a back molar removed because I cracked it and could not afford a crown. My middle teeth on the bottom are beginning to shift. I had braces as a teenager and my teeth were very straight. My gums bleed on the bottom every time I brush. I know this is a sign a periodontal disease or maybe gingivitis?
Avatar f tn Ok mommys that have medicaid . Will I get denied if I already have dental insurance but not health insurance?
978488 tn?1295468883 Hi there...boy, it can really be nasty when our pets, who just want to love us, come up trying to lick and they have breath like that! Ewwww! How old is your little Pug? As Ginger said, a good oral exam and probably a dental (with xrays) is probably warranted. More than 85% of dogs over the age of 2 have some form of dental disease, whether it's mild gingivitis, severe periodontal disease or even fractured teeth.
Avatar f tn Hi Frrecks, I'm sorry that I don't know anything about the insurance, since we still have private insurance. It has to be so difficult to set aside the financial worries and concentrate on feeling better. I do know a lot of the DMD companies have programs to assist anyone without insurance. As for my private insurance cost, my employer just finished the open enrollment for next year and here is what I will be paying for my health insurance - $238.00 a month for me and my spouse.
Avatar m tn Hello, I can't remember the last time I was at the dentist but at the time the dentist said I had no cavities. Now I'm 21 and I have a cavity in on of my top molars. I don't know what to do, I don't have dental insurance and I really don't have the money to get it fixed. I don't want to wait any longer and have it get any worse but I don't have the extra arm and a leg the dentists charge.
Avatar m tn s been hard at times w/o good dental insurance. What I do is go over to the dental school and I can get my teeth cleaned by the students there. It takes 5 times longer, but a cleaning is like $15.00 and I got 4 bitewing X-rays for an additional $5.00. After the students get done, their work is checked by an instructor and then, a dentist walks over and checks it, too. So, you have 3 people looking in your mouth and you're there for hours. Not pleasant, but you do what you have to.
Avatar f tn Hey Sarah I too am a college student looking for health insurance, I was curios to know what you chose and what worked for you. Also did you add dental to your health insurance, I cant find many quotes with both to know how much together they would cost.
485259 tn?1519047026 The bad part of all of this now is While I have a treatment date for 5 hours of dental work ( getting most of it done in one session) I no longer have dental insurance and even at a Dental school/clinic the total cost is just about 15,000.00. SO I began with great fear of getting more dental work done as you were, I then had some hope the treatment could happen in a TN friendly enviorment, but now I am once again feeling hopless because of the Cost.
Avatar f tn All week I have had really stunningly bad burning pain throughout my body, in some rather specific spots, such as my lower neck, my shoulders, lower back, sometimes in my elbows and knees when it periodically gets worse, and it spreads out from those spots. This has left my arms feeling somewhat weak and stiff, though not actually inflamed. This seems to also be accompanied by crushing fatigue, where I'm exhausted by 6 PM and it just doesn't go away for the rest of the evening.
