I called my insurance company to check on coverage, they do cover the consultation but there was a long list of treatments they won't cover if they are found to be dental in nature. Does anyone know how a dr might find the TMJ issues medical in nature?

My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.

Hi lady, that would be awesome if the Obamacare did cover dental too. I'm on disability and I don't have dental coverage either and it's sad because bacteria in the gums can affect your heart health. I was wondering if orthodontic corrections for misaligned teeth can cause temporomandibular joint dysfunction (T.M.D.). I ask because last year while I was on assignment in Thailand my wife decided to start such an orthodontic program due to the low cost in Thailand… yes I know big mistake and it was not decision! If you have had major medical coverage for 1 full year with no break and can provide certification of creditable coverage no group policy can deny you coverage for any pre-existing illness. If you have not had coverage for one year, depending on the group plan's eligibility and coverage limitations they would most likely tack on a 6-month Pre-exiting condition limitation.

I'm 23, married and my parents insurance did cover the costs of my OB bills all I had to pay was the deductible and whatever out of pocket costs that they can make you pay for I think I paid around 3000 all together and the rest was covered but it may be different with different insurances

I have Diabetes and severe case of gingivites is there more assistance out there available other then just the measly $1000 coverage from the dental plan. Arn't they related ?

It's just that often by adjusting your bite (if off) or by keeping your teeth from touching or "grinding" while sleeping with a guard, you can keep that joint and the muscles around it from becoming tight, tense, or even becoming damaged.

I had medical at a point and I know they have dentical for dental and medical should cover optometrists because mine did. I haven't had it in over 4 years so it may be different but call and ask.

Hep C is pre-existing condition for any individual policy, however on group insurance it is not. So if you get insurance through a comapny even after being diagnosed you should be okay.

Call them again and tell them you need insurance coverage immediately due to pregnancy. You can not be denied. Don't let them send you in circles!
