Common Questions and Answers about Dental insurance discount plans

insurance

Avatar n tn I have dental insurance but as we all know the coverage has been less and less over the past few years so I looked into dental discount programs. Did you know that some dental providers will accept both insurance and a dental discount plan togeather? It took me about 5 phone calls but I know it was worth it. On my first visit I had 3-cavitys filled. The cost after my insurance was $144. factor in the dental discount plan and my out of pocket cost was only $14!!! Check it out at http://www.
Avatar n tn i just checked out the site. its for dental insurance plans. i misunderstood. the biggest problem i have found with these are many dentists dont accept it. again check the fine print and make sure you know all the restrictions. each plan has its own "catches" so read the information carefully. i checked into these plans and the only dentist that took it were foreign and involved in the aspen plan (see above post).
Avatar f tn My teeth and gums are on fire! There's no swelling, just throbing aches. I don't have dental insurance. Besides using Orajel, what are natural ways to relieve tooth and gum pains that won't hurt my baby?
Avatar f tn I need some opinions mommies! I am 23 and a nanny so I don't have health insurance. I was looking up private plans but the very best I can get is still about $150 a month and a $5000 deductible. My doctors office offers a discount to women without insurance, and I'vehhad previous experiences with the hospital where they will give me a discount if I just call and ask. I am just trying to decide if insurance iseven wworth it? What do you recommend?
1824022 tn?1317476199 night guard as opposed to a soft. I will be looking into Dental Insurance instead of discount plans. I know I've done this before but better investigate again. It always baffled me as to why 'dental' procedures are less likely to be covered than not; went in fact your health can depend on good teeth. Thank you for your answers.
Avatar n tn 1. be careful with "getting your own" dental insurance. Plans not offerred through employment are usually very poor, and are usually not really "insurance" at all. (Is it Ameriplan?) They are usually "savings" plans where if you go to a paricipating practice, your fees are drastically reduced. Keep in mind the dentist does not get reimbursed by your "insurance plan" at all. It is not my place to say much more, other than to be really careful.

Avatar n tn What are you talking about? I NEVER mentioned anything about insurance plans or alternative plans, I only talked to him about how root canal and crowning procedures work! I hope that you accidentally posted under the wrong thread, because otherwise I'd like you to point out what I wrote that was objectionable.
Avatar n tn My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.
Avatar f tn I don't know if my first message went through, would a tooth implant be ok? I'm trying to find a dentist office who will let me make weekly payments, I've had no luck finding any dental office that will let me do that type of payment plan. I was hoping maybe you would know of a few places. Thank You!
Avatar m tn This is a discount plan, not dental insurance. Unfortunately many dentists choose not to participate in it.
Avatar m tn Hi all! I had a heart attack and was diagnosed with diabetes almost a year ago that turned my life upside down. Since the attack and quadruple bypass surgery I've lost my house, car, and can no longer do the work I've been doing for the last 30years b/c of the physical requirements. I've applied for and been denied Disability and don't know where to turn. My challenge now is being able to the afford my medicine needed every month of about $150.
3221216 tn?1373640059 To tide people with health problems over until 2014, the law created temporary Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plans in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia. Thanks to federal subsidies, people who have been denied coverage or quoted outrageous premiums because of their health history can buy these comprehensive health plans for about the same price as a healthy person their age would pay for a private plan.
Avatar f tn Also, see if there is a birth center near you. I know our local BC has options for families with no insurance. The total out of pocket to deliver there and be seen throughout the pregnancy is about $4500 compared to 3x that amount about the hospital.
Avatar n tn hi, i don't have any dental insurance so I need to pick and choose which tests and procedures at the dentist are really needed. I ask you this because I hope to find unbiased opinion. Last time I skipped the peridontal xray, but got the cavity xray and cleaning...he found 2 tiny cavities that ran me $400 out of my pocket but later a hygenist said maybe that wasn't necessary as the decay could have been reversed... So what do I "really" need..
Avatar m tn I am so far a healthy 43 year old/m in pa. I am trying to decide which health insurance plan will be good for my situation and I am looking for some opinions here. This Month my group plan ends and I can take cobra but there is no financial benefit to taking my same PPO plan which gives me to price break for being unemployed. So I am trying to look at this at a meaningful way. Since my PPO was $475/m plue $29 dental I just cant be paying that on my own now.
Avatar f tn made all payments, through 4/27/08, when the Cobra was due to end. On 4/29/08, I received a letter from my Cobra Insurance Co., saying that they were refunding my payments, from 7/1/07, as I was eligible for Medicare at that time. Of course, a huge stack of bills, totaling over 170,000 was included with the check. I am 64. After researching, I find out that I had to elect Medicare B? I was never told this, and therefor I have no paperwork on it.
Avatar f tn Ya, sorry your insurance is maxed out. That's a problem with dental insurance, its very limited. Most plans don't cover very much in terms of dental treatment. I always felt that if health insurance was built like dental insurance, people would be very upset. Imagine if you had a car accident and your insurance company said they'll pay for one arm to be fixed but you gotta pay for your leg. I never understood why people tolerate insurance companies to partially pay for it.
Avatar n tn I want to do it again but we dont have medical insurance, I wanted to know if anyone know about any health insurance we can buy that will pay for IVF?? Also,, anybody know of a fertility clinic that let you do more than one try for 1/2 price or give you any discount if the first IVF failed????? Thank you...

Avatar f tn I do not have obamacare health insurance, I have insurance through my employer. However, all insurance companies are supposed to honor it. I have coventry health care insurance, their deal is that they will cover up to $500 for a breast pump or send you one. I sent them what i wanted, they sent me a basic basic one. I sent it back, bought the madela one i wanted on amazon, sent them the bill-$269, and they sent me a reimbursement check.... First free thing Ive ever gotten from the government..
