Avatar n tn My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.
Avatar n tn What are the best health insurance sites/companies/agents? When you search health insurance you get ehealthinsurance.com, and healthinsurance.org, and http://www.HealthPlanOne.com as the top 3 but I want to know if you have found better ones than these ones.
Avatar n tn Hi, For the time being you can take anti-inflammatory agents to control the pain like NSAIDS. However you need to check out with your Doctor to find out the cause of pain and swelling of the jaw. Hope this helps. Take care.

Avatar n tn hi, i don't have any dental insurance so I need to pick and choose which tests and procedures at the dentist are really needed. I ask you this because I hope to find unbiased opinion. Last time I skipped the peridontal xray, but got the cavity xray and cleaning...he found 2 tiny cavities that ran me $400 out of my pocket but later a hygenist said maybe that wasn't necessary as the decay could have been reversed... So what do I "really" need..
Avatar f tn Hi there, Hoping someone can help me.....I am about 7 weeks pregnant and have quite a bit of dental work to have done. I've told my dentist to hold off on any X-rays and replacement fillings till after I'm pregnant. But I still have some work that was "in progress" that he wants to finish, mostly to do with broken crown that need to come off and then be replaced. This will require two visits, both about 1 hour and 15 minutes each.
222267 tn?1253302210 2 Months ago I was hypomanic and went to a dental surgeon and had some pretty major surgery done. Soon after I was full blown manic. I was told by someone that the numbing agent they use for your mouth and face has Effedra in it. They say it can be a cause of the mania. I wonder if this is even true? I wonder if there are different numbing agents different dentists use?

Avatar n tn I have dental insurance but as we all know the coverage has been less and less over the past few years so I looked into dental discount programs. Did you know that some dental providers will accept both insurance and a dental discount plan togeather? It took me about 5 phone calls but I know it was worth it. On my first visit I had 3-cavitys filled. The cost after my insurance was $144. factor in the dental discount plan and my out of pocket cost was only $14!!! Check it out at http://www.
Avatar n tn I am disabled on Original Medicare, have no intent to buy private insurance... I am wondering, is it possible for an individual to get real, stand alone dental insurance? Everything I've looked at caps yearly benefits at $1,000 or so which is completely insulting considering the premiums are close to half of that. Where can you buy dental insurance that gives you "REAL" coverage?
Avatar m tn I have genotype 1A, diagnosed in 1993, but I have had this at least 25 years. Trying to walk through the maze of insurance. No treatment, other than Milk Thistle. I am self employed, so the cost of insurance is on me. Question I have is there one plan that is better, as far as prescription coverage? My viral count has doubled in the last 18 months, so considering treatment. The other factor, I am 64 and a smoker. Thanks for any info/experience.

Avatar m tn Hello, I can't remember the last time I was at the dentist but at the time the dentist said I had no cavities. Now I'm 21 and I have a cavity in on of my top molars. I don't know what to do, I don't have dental insurance and I really don't have the money to get it fixed. I don't want to wait any longer and have it get any worse but I don't have the extra arm and a leg the dentists charge.
Avatar n tn Hi there! I had a pretty bad dental abscess a few months ago, and I found a couple of things to use in place or antibiotics since I don't have dental insurance. I'm not sure if these would help you as much as they helped me since your problem is under your jaw, but at the very least they shouldn't hurt you or the baby. 1. Raw garlic. You just have to chew it over the affected tooth, or I guess in your case on the affected side. Chew for as long as you can stand it!

Avatar f tn Sharp stabbing pain behind the ear and soreness can be due to an enlarged lymph node, tonsillitis, mumps, ear infection, dental abscess and injury. I would suggest you to take OTC anti-inflammatory agents like Motrin and apply some alternate hot and cold compress on the affected part. Hopefully your pain will be relieved. In the meantime please schedule an appointment with your GP. Good luck!
Avatar n tn I am just getting my own dental insurance next month, so I believe I would have to wait a year to see a periodontist with this particular insurance. If you have any suggestions on how to keep my gums as healthy as possible, so that I can avoid more problems, please let me know. Thanks so much.
Avatar f tn Also, see if there is a birth center near you. I know our local BC has options for families with no insurance. The total out of pocket to deliver there and be seen throughout the pregnancy is about $4500 compared to 3x that amount about the hospital.
Avatar m tn Discomfort may be treated with a mouth gargle or rinse containing antiseptic and anaesthetic agents. Topical corticosteroids may also be helpful for occasional use eg. triamcinolone in dental paste applied several times a day when required.
