Dealing with death penalty

Common Questions and Answers about Dealing with death penalty

death

Avatar f tn I think a lot of the circumstances surrounding the crime in question is the key with the death penalty. With that said, I know killers have plead down their case and accepted a lesser charge. (A travesty in it's own right!) You'd have to look at intent, planning.... all of the circumstances surrounding the crime in question. When it comes to capital punishment, I really don't know what the answer is. I do know that it isn't much of a deterrent.
Avatar m tn In a situation like the above scenario, I think the death penalty and ensuing death is far more humane than having to deal with the repeated rape etc.. I think there are some monsters in jail that don't deserve the privilege of living, in jail or elsewhere. I don't know... just thinking out loud.
1310633 tn?1430224091 Although I don't disagree with the death-penalty, I WILL say that the though of spending the rest of ones natural'life in prison is a FAR greater deterrent, to a criminal (I'd think so anyway). In my mind, the death-penalty (although warranted in some instances), is a cop'out and allows criminals to get off "easy" (relatively speaking).
1530342 tn?1405016490 I agree and like with what RGlass said, this kid is up for parole in 26 or something years. Why? (I guess that is a question that could be asked repeatedly in this situation... Why did he do it? Why was he not charged as an adult? Why no death penalty? Why have the opportunity for parole? Why support this punk with housing and food for the rest of his life, or a minimum of 26 years? Etc.....
144586 tn?1284666164 I had written him often, mostly to answer medical questions (he was quite ill). I had always been very pro death penalty until this situation came about, and I began to reflect on the nature of justice, life, and the right of society to take another's life. He may well have deserved death, but locked up in that cell for twenty years was also punishment. Before he walked the last few feet to the death chamber he asked forgiveness for his actions.
296076 tn?1371334474 I do believe that we should continue with the death penalty ...yes I say fry her like she did her child ...
1530342 tn?1405016490 I would agree that the death penalty has taken some innocent lives. With that said, it fails to compare to the numbers of innocent people killed by murderers.
Avatar m tn That is what they were saying this morning. If given death, the appeals process will have to play out and that could take a long time. Quit with the money spending and isolate her *** in a cell with no contact from the free world. That is better than death... they won't do that however.
Avatar f tn And how can someone get a lethal injection in a state that is in the process of trying to do away with the death penalty? Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Perhaps out of concern for the surviving child. I personally believe that if the death penalty is ever deserved, this would be a no brainer for it. She doesn't deserve the chance to walk free ever again. Personally, I don't believe she has the right to breathe at all. She cold bloodedly killed her own child and viciously attacked the other. This deserves death penalty.
228686 tn?1211554707 Put him on death row. He'll be hanging around on appeals for 13 or 14 years anyway. Plenty of time to save the world..

676912 tn?1332812551 Well to be frank I am FOR the death penalty depending on the crime...but in this case I don't think the death penalty would be sufficient. I don't see how any mother could sit around and LET that kind of thing happen to her child....ESPECIALLY one so young. At the very least after that child had two broken legs he woulda been sent packing with two broken legs of his own. I know you should be vendictive and wish revenge on people...
163305 tn?1333668571 I used to be for the dealth penalty but then thinking more and more about it and applying it to my religious beliefs has changed my view. So while I don't agree with the death penalty this person has to face life in jail for his crimes. While I would love to shake his hand for what he did and suprised he was even convicted, she should be doing some jail time. I suggest flooding the governors office with phone calls to stay the execution.
Avatar f tn Our justice system is pretty much identical to yours (at least I am fairly certain it is) and I fully agree that there is probably no better way to do it. It is certainly far better then the majority of countries. Here is why I am against the death penalty. It's not perfect. No such thing..impossible. And I guess I feel that one man wrongly executed is a good enough reason to abolish it. So it's not that I am against putting some folks to death..
474119 tn?1273841478 Sorry, I do not agree with the death penalty for these abusers. Whoa, don't jump me. The death penalty would be too easy for them. Take them out and torture them slow and hard every day for even longer than they tortured this poor innocent child. Working in ER's and also in doing home healthcare, I came across situations such as this but neveras horrible. In a rural area, I can never remember a time when we just suspected abuse that it wasn't reported to DFACS.
Avatar f tn for the baby and how much will effect him. I usually a very emotional person when dealing with death and I feel like a horrible person for not allowing myself to feel bad. What do I do???
