I recently found out that I had Angular Cheilitis and it's come back for the second time now. It is very very annoying and painful. The corners of my mouth have lesions and if I try to open my mouth too much the pain is excruciating, my lips are also severely chapped and can only be hidden for an hour or so by lip balm, and the chapping begins again. It seems that not only my lips but the area surrounding my lips are also peeling.
Im a 17 year old asian male with dark lips. I was born with lighter lips but i have neglected them when i was younger. I have always peeled and ate the skin of my lips (I know disgusting lol) when i was younger and they were chapped. Everytime i went to the dentists, when i'd have my teeth pulled and they used anesthesia i'd take very hot water and test on my lips to see how i can not feel the pain. I never really cared about my lips from about 5 years old to 13.
Hi, I am an African-American 19 year old male. My lower lip is mostly dark and has two pink patches on it. One dermatologist I saw wasn't sure if it was vitiligo or not and another one said it that it was. However, I have recently been looking at some older pictures of myself and it appears as if my lower lip used to be pinker. This is confusing because if i do have vitiligo, my lips would have been darker in the past and not pinker.
I am a 22 year old female who for the last couple of years have suffered with darkening of lips. I suffer from eczema so i dont know if this is a contributory factor but i have periods where my lip darkens and but then goes away, only this time the lips is getting more pigmented and shows no signs of getting better. Please Please help me ive cried over this so many times because no seems to have an answer for it and its really starting to affect my confidence. Thank you so much for your time.

Thank you so much for the reply! The dark spot itself is gone ... but my lips get painfully dry and flaky still. So, I will definitely try taking Vitamin B complex. I stopped taking multivits but I can get back into that as well.
I also read somewhere that it could be from hormonal changes & around the time the dark spot cropped up I had started taking birth control again ... might that have been a cause as well?
I started using Vaseline earlier in the week & that has really helped!
What can cause a dark spot on the lips, as if there was a concentration of blood beneath the surface? There is no actual bleeding, and no sensations whatsoever. The skin is otherwise normal, no blister or anything. The lips are a normal color, aside from the one darker area.

s lip balm with SPF 15 to help protect your lips from direct heat and UV. Other lip balm or lip moisturizers with SPF may also help. There is no definite treatment for dark lips although micropigmentation which is used to apply permanent colors on the lips, eyes and eye brows may be used to bring color to the lips. This is more extensive and entails more risks but may give more dramatic and long lasting results.
can you tell me if the vitamin E cream has helped you in the long run and if the dark skin in and around the corner of the lips has disappeared ? My son last July got thèse cold sores for the first time on his lips right after a conjunctivitis and healed from it but just few weeks later we had to travel to India and it turned more darker and visible...as if He was having a moustache ...guess that list the hot weather that have accelerated the darkness...
my upper lips have 3-4 dark spots and I don't know if it's from the sun or not but i recently got it this year. I don't remember when but it was definately after april. On my bottom lips, some are partly red and some are dark, and there are also a few light speckles that almost form a line between the red and the dark area of the bottom lip. is there a way to reverse this or treat this discoloration because it REALLY bothers me! thanks! i also got a photo.

From the symptoms and picture it looks like oral melanotic macule. Oral melanotic macule is a benign, dark spot found on the lips or inside the mouth.
A biopsy has to be done and laser treatment is the main treatment option.

so she might just bite her lips..and it was in the dark...she bites on her own lips and me as a fool i kissed her!may be she wanted me to get hiv something and she knew i had broken lips(i always have broken lips)so she just bite her own lips to remove some blood and she kissed me!im really stressed over this thing! u guys think i can get HIV this way and u think someone can be so bad on EARTH to bite her own lips???!pls i need your replies!
I have swollen lips. The swelling is especially in my lower lip. It started in the early morning of a cold day two years ago. I saw my lips were dry and I rubbed until the dry skin come off. After 30 minutes I felt like my lower lip pop out since then I have this swollen and irregular lips. because of this I can't talk properly. I tried all the chap sticks and lip balms but nothing helped. I also tried topical steroids(Elidel, Desonide, etc.) but no improvement.
Over the summer I noticed that about 1/4 inch of the lips where it meets the lower lips turned to just brown from dark brown. Not sure if i caught it while shaving or what. I did go to the beach and not sure if that caused it either. Anyways, whenever my mouth is closed you can't notice it. When I open up my mouth though to talk, there is 1/4 inch where its just brown and then the dark coloration of my lips starts. Curious if there is any remedy to have that color come back or what?
