Why risk something that has been scientifically proven to affect an unborn fetus? Science was a whole lot different for our parent's generation, scientist know so much more about the dangers of smoking than before. I just couldn't see myself taking chances like that knowing as many negative stories about it.

I breastfed all 3 of my children long term and have reduced my risk of breast cancer by 89.8% (breastfeeding - 68.8% and having 3 children - 21%, according to several studies). I have complete faith that what I did will protect me from breast cancer. What my experience taught me was that the medical community really doesn't have a handle on just how dangerous mammograms might be for us who have nursed long term. I sincerely feel I am risking my life by having a mammogram.

I think its both positive and negative. It teaches the kids the dangers of smoking/second hand smoke and the problems it can cause as well as the result od death. As for the negative, the kids with the smoking patents are now worrying about losing their parent(s) due to the day care. Im an ex smoker myself.

I don't understand the people who are saying it's fine because there mum did it with them and there fine that's crazy.everyone knows smoking is bad for you and has sooo many health risks so when your with child or breastfeeding your child why would you want to make that go in your child's system. Avoid smoking all together while pregnant or breastfeeding in fact why not just try quit for good it's horrible and lead by example for your kids I believe.

Hi. I'm just curious in people's opinions of something. I am an ex smoker. No longer have the habit. My child's daycare have been taught that smoking kills people etc.. so move away from people if they're smoking. A lot of parents from the daycare have come in abusing the child care Centre as they're smokers and there young children keep telling them they're going to die.

I started smoking again occasionally (about a pack a week) when my son was about 6 months old, and continued to breastfeed him until he was 2 years old. I always washed my hands and at least wore a jacket outside to smoke that I took off before picking him up. It's a matter of moderation, it's a matter of consideration. Be aware of the smoke on your clothes and skin and avoid allowing it to contact your baby.

Your milk may come in before of after labor but boob size definitely doesn't matter and the weed I'm not sure I would Google that but its probably not healthy

Breast feeding weather smoking or not gives your baby the best nutrition. I don't smoke any more, but my best friend breast fed and smoked (she quit while pregnant but with both girls started smoking right away after birth.

No, it's not recommended. The baby gets the nicotine from your milk if it is in your system. I assume you're not smoking now while pregnant? You'll just have to keep on with that plan until you are done breastfeeding. (Or longer, if you want to be around a long time in good health for your child.

Weed isn't necessarily a drug. It's natural not like cigarettes all those chemicals which can cause cancer or loss of limbs of long term smoking. As well as alcohol which is damaging for you & baby. Idk abt breastfeeding while smoking if you feel like your not sure you should do some research.

I disagree with the comment that we should accept it and not try to educate people about the dangers of smoking while pregnant. There are a lot of really young moms on here and notall do know all the risks with smoking.

Just to be clear im not smoking while pregnant im taking anti depressants.

I know a lot of people who breastfed and smoked. It's not good, but if you are going to do it you have to do it after you feed not before. Thats what I plan on doing.

If you stay 100% smoke free the whole time till delivery and while breastfeeding I dont see why not. Just be sure to tell your doc if your on any medications, or if they give you any during labor that can leak into your breast milk. I tried to breast feed with my 2 oldest children, but my breast milk was actually cauing health issues for my babies. They were allergic to something my body was passing into the milk.

If u wanna smoke just don't breastfeed
