385161 tn?1270081218 thats some good advice you gave there. Today I have decided to step down to the next patch the lower and last one. I've only been on the middle one (step 2) for 4 weeks but I think i am ready to move on. If it doesn't work out I will go back to the step I am on now. I thought I would be brave and give it a shot. I am not too worried, but will need support. I will be reaching out to family, friends and this site for assurance. Thanks so much for listening.
Avatar f tn Sorry I wasn't clear with my post, I'm just at wits end. He was on day 19 of the 14mg patch, and I'm sure he wasn't smoking this time. He was with me so no chance to sneak. Now he wants to try the lower dose patch, or he said he is going back to smoking. I've told him he better check it out that neither will cause more problems, but he hasn't done anything to check it out. Does that clear anything up for you and others?
Avatar f tn This is a really good question!! I will second the advice you've received from Paxiled and Maddie. While I'm sure DoctorGoddess has good intentions, none of us on an internet forum can tell you what you DO or don't have. I would also be inclined to tell you to maybe give a nicotine patch a try, but what's curious to me is that the relief you feel post smoking is VERY short lived.
Avatar f tn I think its both positive and negative. It teaches the kids the dangers of smoking/second hand smoke and the problems it can cause as well as the result od death. As for the negative, the kids with the smoking patents are now worrying about losing their parent(s) due to the day care. Im an ex smoker myself.
498385 tn?1362449404 These should be listed on the pakage. As for smoking while on the patch, you are not supposed to do it. Could it cause a heart attack......well, given that you are taking in twice the amount of nicotine, anything is possible. You really have to prepare yourself mentally for this quit......don't wear the patch until you are ready to never pick up another smoke. Nothing works when you half-a$$ it so make up your mind to put them down for good and just do it! If I did it, anyone can!
1128145 tn?1260343690 Talk to your pharmacist to clarify the specifics of how you can use heat on your body, away from the patch location. A heating pad on another part of you body away from patch placement should not effect the disbursement of the medication. Never put a heating pad or any form of heat on the patch. I applied the patch to my upper shoulder and placed a heating pad on my hip. I also used a heated rice bag on my lower back. There were no ramifications. Again discuss this with your pharmacist.
Avatar f tn some articles and information on the dangers of smoking and all the scary ill-effects it causes, think about it yourself... you will surely want to quit. ALL THE VERY BEST!! Keep us posted. We are all here to help you out.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm just curious in people's opinions of something. I am an ex smoker. No longer have the habit. My child's daycare have been taught that smoking kills people etc.. so move away from people if they're smoking. A lot of parents from the daycare have come in abusing the child care Centre as they're smokers and there young children keep telling them they're going to die.
Avatar m tn Every time I get a crave, I think of it as a healing spasm, the less I have the more healing is going on. I have already noticed that heavy feeling in my chest has lightened up and I dont stink either. Get raw veggies to munch on or in my case, I got dum dum suckers and just keep the stick in my mouth when done. If you are using patches, those help alot so you can concentrate on the physical habits you have developed over time.
Avatar f tn I made the mistake of not reading the entire information slip before starting it. Right now I am on the 21 mg patch, and I have been smoking a little here and there after taking off the patch. I have a severe headache, I am nausious, my lungs feel like their closes up, which is making my asthma worse, and now I have a pain in my right arm. Is this a sign of a nicotine overdose? If so, what should I do?
1845558 tn?1318950603 I have quit smoking many times. Cold turkey then the patch. The nicotine is out of your body within 48 hours, after that it's mental. I would try the patch and acupuncture. You can do it, the question is do u really want too. You have to get out of the habit of picking up, lighting etc...that's what the patch is for. Acupuncture can help with stress and cravings. Hope this helps.
1391959 tn?1280439862 I'm not sure about the patch. You're at a higher risk for blood clots when you're pregnant, and that's one of the dangers of the patch as well. I would try to wean yourself off the cigarettes. I smoked in the beginning with my first, and this baby.
335728 tn?1331414412 Thanks so much for your kind words of support and for those that are trying to get that horrible Nicodemon off your back the following is the way I quit. I started with the Nicoderm Patch BUT I tried the 21 mg and it made me have awful nightmares, skin irritation and when I told the doc this she lowered me to a 14mg patch. This was what really saved me! The doc said herself that she didn't care if I was on the patch for a year as long as I used it instead of smoking!
Avatar f tn I wouldnt be as concerned being on a low mg patch for a week or two to have a better chance of succseeding as i would be smoking , its the way alot of midwives ect recommend initially to stop smoking . Agree long term is'nt recommended . to have a monitered and organised plan with midwife , nurse is important and more succsessful. Women shouldnt be put off from short term from patch or gum ect if it stops them smoking. Its far better for baby and mother than smoking .
4852917 tn?1386378680 I am 6 weeks and I have cut back a lot. I was thinking of trying the patch and have switched to e cigs . Are patches okay?
1823499 tn?1370090289 Haha i started quitting this morning. I put a patch on got the gum out and the inhalator .... Then i got fired from work so patch is off now lol... Best of luck! I will try again in a few days. Scared i pile the pounds on!
Avatar f tn I should have simply stated WHAT it was, not pontificated about the legality of it. It was almost like I was regressing to my own smoking of it and the BS I told my mom. (thinking of course that it wasn't BS at all, at the time). Sorry if I was misleading in the innocuousness of it. Best of luck with your daughter!
Avatar f tn we are only human so take it slow ok? I found the patch really helped me. I quit during both my pregnancies using the patch. I wish I hadn't started again after giving birth but I feel good knowing my babies grew inside me without nicotine and all the other **** going into their systems. Now I'm going to get off oxys and once I've been clean for at least a few months I'll quit smoking. i wouldn't dream of doing both at the same time.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the forum. However, we don't examine posted clinical photographs on this forum. We aren't dermatologist -- and in our view, looking at images and trying to say the cause comes to close, in our opinion, to practicing medicine from afar. The purpose of this forum is to provide guidance, not make any particular diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering, for those of you that have used the patch, what did you think of it? I'm considering using it once I have my 6week post pregnancy appointment. I refuse to use any iud or injections and I'm tertible at remembering pills, so I thought this may be a better choice. So please, anything you experienced, I'd like to know.
Avatar n tn I quit smoking this morning after 21 years of over a pack/day. Been on the patch since I woke up, it's now mid-afternoon and I have a fever and I already passed out on my lunch for almost an hour. I feel like I have the flu, I'm all bloated and I feel pukey and I have a really bad headache and I'm all weak-ish, could be a coincidental flu, but I think it's probably really really bad withdrawls.
Avatar n tn Thanks so much for the advice will ask my doctor Tuesday thank you
Avatar m tn I try not to worry about tomorrow of the next day. All life is giving me is today, from sun up to the time I lay my head on the pillow. Of course I get all excited that I have another day. We should celebrate our accomplishments. I'm so glad you are here and there are so many people here to support you. Keep posting and stick around.
Avatar n tn During this time my routines have been out of wack for a few months and I just cant get enough sleep or I just cant sleep. Now on the 3rd week of no patch and no smoking and panic attack are starting, I'm having a hard time trusting the people closest to me, when they are talking to me I feel as though theres a hidden adjenda or I'll zone out in the middle of them talking, such as people at work... I feel like I am going crazy!
Avatar f tn Now for the past two days the right side of my body feels like it feel asleep. I get occasional numbness on the right side of my face. I'm very scared and can't afford to go to the doctor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
