smoking

Avatar f tn Why risk something that has been scientifically proven to affect an unborn fetus? Science was a whole lot different for our parent's generation, scientist know so much more about the dangers of smoking than before. I just couldn't see myself taking chances like that knowing as many negative stories about it.
377493 tn?1356502149 This is probably a dumb question, but....I am wondering if any of you know the dangers of using a laptop computer on your lap while pregnant. I am on the computer pretty much all day as I work from home, and I more often than not sit with my feet up and the computer in my lap. Has anyone heard of this possibly doing any damage to the fetus? I just starting thinking about this after reading about not standing too close to microwave ovens while they were in use, and was wondering?
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm just curious in people's opinions of something. I am an ex smoker. No longer have the habit. My child's daycare have been taught that smoking kills people etc.. so move away from people if they're smoking. A lot of parents from the daycare have come in abusing the child care Centre as they're smokers and there young children keep telling them they're going to die.
Avatar f tn Smoking pot as you know, slows everything possible down in your body, it affects the chemicals in your brain, it slows your reaction, it has been studied and shows long term use to be very harmful and has been said one of the hardest drugs to get off and the one with the most long term affect on ones body. I cant imagine one single doctor condoning any person let alone a pregnant mother to use marijuana and tell them its ok. That is just wrong on every level.

Avatar n tn My friends say they smoked weed to help and it did not hurt the baby, is this correct? Of course I would only do it in small amount just to get an appetite.
Avatar f tn SIDS as well as second hand smoke dangers to you and you baby are important considerations in maintaining health for both of you. There are good prescription options for quitting smoking if your husband is willing to discuss them with his doctor. Chantix has had great success and well as Wellbutrin and quitting will keep him healthier for his baby too. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Studies have shown that consistent smoking and drinking throughout your pregnancy will cause problems but doing so in very early pregnancy has not reported any long-term ill effects. The placenta doesn't form until week 8 or more so it is doubtful much has even passed to the baby at this point. Good for you for quitting; keep at it and get healthy for your little bean.
Avatar f tn I quit easily cuz i had quit once before, but if its hard for you chew gum or take a walk. Also keep ur hands busy to keep you from smoking. Also keep in mind once you quit tour lungs will be healthier and you can breathe better plus you'll have better smelling hair and clothes. Also your teeth and gums will be healthier as well.
778044 tn?1299542934 Awesome, thank you. I know that my sister flew in early pregnancy, but I was more concerned about the casinos and smoke and things like that.
Avatar n tn I also doubt studies have been done on the effects of vaping during pregnancy there could easily be unknown dangers to your baby.
Avatar f tn All I was told is there is nothing they can do at this time but wait and see what happens because I am so early. They put me on amoxicillin and set me on my way. Thank you for answering. It really helps.
Avatar f tn I put up a post in the 25-34,forum yesterday about e-cigs and the dangers of the fluid, especially to children.
Avatar f tn meggster, firstly understand that you should quit for your own health reasons, and not because somebody wants you to!!! I think now you are old enough to understand and take seriously that cigarette smoke can cost you your life in the course of time. 'am sure you must be aware of all the ill-effects of smoking? Smoking, which starts as a teenage fad, for impressing others. ..blah...blah. ..etc..often becomes a dirty and dangerous life-time habit!
Avatar f tn Smoking causes more stress for the baby than your stress too you are cutting it's oxigen off every puff u take I was a heavy smoker and I straight stopped I don't want an unhealthy baby there are warnings on the packs too come on girl you can do it don't have an object in this world take control over u I'm cheering u on though :-)
Avatar n tn re in pain or feel any discomfort, just tell them and they can give you a shot of something in your iv - I got Morphine and something for nausea which worked in a minute or two. After recovery, you go back to your room and start the recovery process. Was it the easiest surgery? probably not, but certainly a surgery that saved my life at 42 - due to a dangerous heart rhythm. Hope that helps.
1820473 tn?1344980763 i had urge of smoking as hubby was a smoker..but i used to make myself bz.. I downloaded all seasons of how i met ur mother n watched..haha n it helped diverting my attention from my esse menthol cravings lol..
Avatar f tn It is FAR better to quit at ANY stage of pregnancy than to continue to smoke. Smoking has been linked to low birth weight and preterm labor. Both of which would be far more detrimental to your baby than any possible affects of quitting. I speak from experience - I smoked throughout my first pregnancy. My daughter was born at 40 wks 3 days via emergency c-section because there was a lack of amniotic fluid - as in NONE. She was breech and suffered from Intrauterine growth restriction.
20922415 tn?1661860103 Furthermore, low progesterone levels increase the risk of miscarriage in early pregnancy. Experts, therefore, recommend that in these cases progesterone should be given to support the pregnancy.
Avatar f tn This may be a good opportunity to start educating your 2 year old on the dangers of cigarette smoking. Teach him not to ever pick them up, especially when he’s older and others around him may be smoking.
Avatar f tn Is there anything that is happening that would make you concerned about m/c. I think that all women have that fear, especially early on in pregnancy. It's natural. If you spend too much time in this forum, you will probably make yourself nuts and stress is not good for you now. I have only been pg once and it ended in m/c at 9 weeks (just last month). I had an irregular ultra sound, so I knew the chances were 50/50. At my 2nd ultra sound we knew for sure that it was going to happen.
Avatar f tn My baby is very healthy but thanks for the concern
Avatar f tn I did with last pregnancy. he tried to come early but was healthy. he rarely gets sick either. i had smoked about 5 a day. Couldn't completely quit but the smoke made me sick and couldn't stand any more than a few.
