Avatar m tn Topical zinc oxide cream like Sudocrem, Desitin are very helpful(apply with a paper towel and not directly with hands).Application of mild steroid cream like dermacort also helps. In case the symptoms persist then antifungals may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case. Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.

506570 tn?1215836300 I have a 4 year old Alaskan Malamute, Loki, who has dandruff like flakes on some areas of his skin. His hair is also a bit thinner along his spine on his lower back. I have tried researching skin conditions in Malamutes and found a lot of information on zinc-responsive dermatosis in Alaskan Malamutes. I would love to know if anyone else is giving their dog zinc supplements and how you went about finding out that your dog has zinc-responsive dermatosis.
Avatar m tn Barrier cremes containing zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to be applied on the skin is a way.
Avatar m tn The last two left spots behind that are slowly fading away. The last one I started treating with neosporin, zinc oxide and muripocin....I noticed it on Sunday and today, it has dried and started healing. There is no longer a scab or anything, just a faded red spot. It also does not itch anymore.
Avatar f tn Avoid any kind of cosmetics. You can also use a barrier cream with zinc oxide paste or calamine lotion or a mild steroid cream like dermacort on the rash. If the bumps are itchy, you can take some antihistaminic like Benadryl or Claritin. If the lumps persist then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.

Avatar m tn This is the 3rd summer in a row that I have been having problems with my scalp. I have been kind of keeping track and every year, for the last 3 years, I have gotten an itchy scalp that feels a lot like a normal dry scalp in the month of July and lasts until about March the next year. It is set off by me itching it or the scalp getting irritated by any kind of touch (ie hood, hat, someone else touches it) There is no redness or allergen like bumps of any kind.
Avatar f tn I stopped having sex with my wife for awile until it cleared up. During that time i was using zinc oxide cream, bought all 100% cotton boxers, used very mild soap and rinsed well in the shower. Oh and by the way i am circumsised. It almost was completley cleared so i assumed it wasnt something worse from my past or whatever, i have ocd so i constantly stressed about it and constantly examine my penis which i am sure aggravated it at times.

Avatar n tn Hi, The best way to treat dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo. Look for shampoos with ingredients such as zinc pyrithone, salicyclic acid, coal tar, selenium silfide, or ketoconazole. All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out.
