Seborrheic dermatitis which may be causing the dandruff may be contagious due to an associated yeast infection. However, this has not been fully established. Avoid sharing brushes, towels and other personal belongings as this may only help spread the condition.
If the scalp condition persists despite treatment ,then a biopsy may help. However, was a fungal infection established here?
My wife was getting itchy too so we assumed it was a yeast infection and used some Monistat cream on both of us. Hers went away within a few days but my itching persisted. We've never had a yeast infection before. There was a period of time where the skin on my shaft and head was almost shiny and papery .. still very itchy. Used the yeast infection cream for over a week and it's gotten somewhat better but still not cured.
Over a week ago I had a bad sinus infection I was given a Z Pak and Prednisone ( this might have nothing to do with this but i am wondering if I am having a reaction to either one) I have been off of both meds for about 3 days now after completing them and yesterday rash started on my neck and upper chest. What should I do?

Its been already 2-3 years I would say since I caught this from my ex , but when I went to the doctors they said it looked like a yeast infection or some type of fungal which gave me this side effect of making my head of the penis have like white dandruff looking skin for weeks until I got put on doxycycline antibiotics as well as a cream(Clotrimazole) which didn't help the redness and ugly look of the skin go away. Recently I have retaken the std test and am negative for everything.
If you have dandruff and spots it could be caused by a yeast overgrowth similiar to when babies get cradle cap. This is not uncommon. This is why there are lots of anti-dandruff shampoos on sale. Try Head and Shoulders or a Nizoral shampoo to see if it helps.
But you need to go to a dermatologist to get it property diagnosed and treated and then you can forget about it.
My family had the same problem. By accident, we cured the problem while trying to fix other problems. We went on a gluten free diet (foods that contain wheat, barley, rye and possibly oats) for other reasons, and realized we all got scalp relief - no more itching, crusting, etc. Food intolerances, like gluten and cow's milk foods, when not digested, allow yeast to overgrow. It causes yeast overgrowth in and on the body. Of course, sugar is another promoter of yeast.

Hello hun, honeslty i truly do not believe thr it is a yeast infection, especially for eight years. If it was a yeast infection you would have a yellowish or other than cream colored discharge, itchiness of the actual vagina, not the bumps and you would, as a lot of people do have burning of the vagina as well. Im not too sure how this would qualify for a yeast infection and they should have done a pap smear at the gyno n tested u for a yeast infection, not just tell u to use monistat.
What can I do to get rid of persistent dandruff? Medicated shampoos just make it worse. Also have itchy head sometimes.

I had my one and only outbreak almost 3 years ago. I went to the doctor and they did a culture and determined it to be HSV-1. I've had sex with a few people since then (all boyfriends) but foolishly unprotected. I'm a graduate student and am always under extreme stress with insomnia and still no symptoms. But I've had excessive vaginal discharge for awhile now and doctors seem to say that some people just have more discharge than others.
