Avatar f tn Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is a condition where there is an excess amount of pigment following a disease process that affects the skin. Without treatment, this usually takes about 6 months to resolve and for the skin color to go back to its normal color. Topical treatments with acids and chemical peels can be effective but can take a while for the skin to totally revert to its normal color. Microdermabrasion can also be done, but this might require several sessions.
Avatar n tn I have been suffering from dandruff for more than 10 years. I have tried Nizoral, coal tar, head and shoulder, selsum blue etc but nothing seems to help. Especially in 3 area in my head near the centre, I big circle of dandruff forming. They can be almost the size of dime. Its thicken , raised flaky transparent skin layer with dots. I have been noticing this for atleast 4 years now. I scratch and take it out but it rebuilds in just couple of day in the excact location.

The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription). If your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.
Avatar n tn Hi, The best way to treat dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo. Look for shampoos with ingredients such as zinc pyrithone, salicyclic acid, coal tar, selenium silfide, or ketoconazole. All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out.
Avatar f tn I dyed my hair while on treatment. Did it just when I had too, since my hair got very dry. It didn't seem to impact treatment. Some people have more severe hair loss and problems then I didn though.

Avatar m tn This causes the harmless bacteria that live in the scalp to proliferate and feed off the oil, which produces the odor and may make the hair greasy. Secondly it can be due to dandruff can cause either an overly dry scalp with itchy white flakes that may be waxy or greasy, or it can manifest as an oily scalp with scales. Eat a healthy diet. Avatar n tn For the last 10 years I have had a problem with my scalp. It started out of the blue, my scalp became very itchy and I could not help scratching it, when I scratched it, what appeared to be white flakes of skin came off. I thought this was just normal dandruff so bought Anti-dandruff shampoo (over the years I have tried every Anti-dandruff shampoo you can think of, even stuff from my GP).
Avatar m tn Aquaphor is a good moisturizer that would help balanitis. Give it a try. Itraconazole doesn't cause the symptoms that the person who wrote the "review" claims. Tinea versicolor does not cause internal symptoms--just color change on the skin. It can be treated with topical applications (Selsun Blue, for instance), but then it's widespread, that can be hard to do. Oral itraconazole and ketoconazole are safe and effective. You should discuss these options with your doctor.
9562964 tn?1416928231 You get a 3 part system. Nioxin cleanser , scalp revitaliser ( conditioner) and scalp treatment. It is designed for thinning hair but would help your dandruff aswell. It will unblock blocked follicles to aid hair growth and also make the hair you have look thicker and stronger.
Avatar n tn t anything visible except dandruff, so is my hair loss without scalp disease? My father has dandruff too but not hair loss. so, is my hair loss associated with tinea? Once I did take pills suggested by a dermatologist but that did not really help.
Avatar f tn The first doctor prescribed a steroid cream and told me to wash my hair with dandruff shampoo and put a little of the suds in my ears and on my groin. The steroid cream worked for a couple of weeks and then stopped. A few years later a second doctor gave me samples of an anti-fungal cream and told me to use it. That did nothing. So basically I've been itching non-stop and clawing my body up pretty good for 15 years.

Avatar f tn Oils with camphor and similar products that control itching are available. Otherwise, it can also be due to dandruff. This can be treated by shampoos and tablets under supervision of a skin specialist. Nerve compression in the upper cervical vertebra too can be the cause. Take care!
Avatar m tn I wish I also had thick hair like you but whatever little I had…. I had to save them. So After the dandruff treatment I continued my treatment for hair fall which has also reduced to a significant percent. He will also suggest or infact give you a chart to follow a proper diet pattern. So if you too believe in homeopathy I would suggest you to try him. I would have loved to give you the name of the anti-fungal tablets but sorry to say that his medicines are not available in the market.
Avatar f tn This itch is not constant, but occurs consistantly throughout the day. I use hair color. I have no health problems aside from 2-3 migraines monthly and mild anemia. Avatar f tn I have a problem with my scalp/hair that has been going on for almost two years. I am losing hair and it is thinning at: my front hairline and on the top/crown only. My scalp in these areas becomes: very oily, appears pink in color and itches uncontrollably at times. The hair that falls out is always from these areas as well and contain a small sebum plug on the hair follicle. Other times where the area itches I find yellowish sebum plugs right where it itches.
Avatar f tn I would pay a fortune if someone could find a cure for my disease, and not just categorize it as a minor scalp problem that can be treated with Dandruff shampoo or oral hygiene it is far beyond that I wouldn't be surprised if one doctor discover a direct relation ship of what we eat maybe even allergies and a flare up of the intestines the cause for the brake out and not so much a dermatitis problem.
