Avatar n tn t do much, but when we switched to the formula for colored hair it worked great. Talk to you salon and see if they have some sample or smaller (hence, cheaper) bottles that you can try. As with all salon products, you're going to spend a little more, but hey...if it helps...it helps. Tanning for about 5 minutes in our local express bed also seems to help me a little. Good luck!!

9562964 tn?1416928231 Nizeral, polytar and t gell shampoo are all great for dandruff. You could try nioxin shampoo. You get a 3 part system. Nioxin cleanser , scalp revitaliser ( conditioner) and scalp treatment. It is designed for thinning hair but would help your dandruff aswell. It will unblock blocked follicles to aid hair growth and also make the hair you have look thicker and stronger.
Avatar n tn There are many over the counter anti dandruff shampoos. Selsen Blue is one of them. If your hair is naturally too oily, try a shampoo the says "clarifying" . A lot of these type of shampoos help at the root of the hair shaft and help balance out the amount of moisture present. I have a teenage daughter with this exact problem. I ended up buying a clarifying shampoo from a local beauty salon.
Avatar f tn I experience a lot of itching in them. I oil my scalp regularly and use an anti dandruff shampoo but so far no improvement. I have 4-5 such patches on my scalp and every time i brush my hair, a lot of dandruff comes out. Someone please advise!
Avatar n tn Which does not make sense, since I was experiencing hair loss 1 year prior to when the dandruff started (due to use of prescribed shampoos). So he gave me CLOBEX to use for the dandruff. It made my hair loss even more SEVERE and made the dandruff worse. After finishing the Clobex treatment (which did not help) I went off all prescription shampoos and started using all natural Neem shampoo which got rid of the dandruff. But the hair continued to fall.

Avatar n tn Hi, The best way to treat dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo. Look for shampoos with ingredients such as zinc pyrithone, salicyclic acid, coal tar, selenium silfide, or ketoconazole. All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out.
Avatar f tn (it helps if you have someone else do it for you) Then just wash it out, sometimes it takes two shampoo washes to get your hair clean again though. hope this helps some. I have more tips if it doesn't.

Avatar f tn You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. But if your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist. Eat a healthy diet.
