Hello, Tinea capitis is a fungal infection which can be responsible for dandruff and hair fall also. Treatment includes washing the scalp with shampoo with selenium sulfide (2.5%) or zinc pyrithione (1-2%) used 2-3 times weekly at home. Oral steroids, Griseofulvin and oral antifungals may also be required. I suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. The hair loss due to tinea capitis is not permanent and goes away on its own once the fungal infection is treated.

I have been taking the medication 5-6 weeks and for the past week or so I am noticying hair loss. (roughly double the normal amount of hair I would loose in a day.) My hair is noticably thinning. Could this be a side effect of the medication I am taking? Has anyone else experienced this? On a side note, my skin is now completely clear.
Prior to the story before, I always had tons and tons of thick, healthy hair with NO hair loss. In October 2009, I began having prolonged, non-stop menstruation and severe pelvic pain. Numerous tests later, docs had no idea what was wrong with me. In January of 2010, my GP put me birth control pills for 3 months, but it didn't help me at all.

Maybe you are eating too much sugar and you are getting yeasty scalp buildup (dandruff). Try Nizoral shampoo. You could alternate with Wella Regulate shampoo (order on line). Nizoral will cause minor increased fallout for the first time or two you use it, but it is slightly anti-androgen and will also control any yeasty buildup, so for those two reasons it can cause hair to regrow. Eat a low-sugar diet - NO SODA. Do not smoke as it reduces all-important blood circulation.
I stopped minoxidil right after first post, used a cream I had left from the many I used to cure my DS + anti-dandruff+ vitamins shampoo and 4 days after( now) I don't have the yellow stuff anymore, my scalp went back to first stage ( some sebum, itch from time to time and the irritation or weak scalp feeling) I'm afraid that if i start using minoxidil again I will make it worst again because of the all time irritation feeling , is there anyway I can make my scalp healthier and stronger t
Regarding the hair loss, unless and until the hair follicles are intact, hair will regrow. Otherwise you may need hair transplantation. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

I've always wondered why my hair falls out so easily and why I have stretch marks. After doing a quick web search, it seems these can be caused by zinc deficiency. I've always eaten enough zinc containing foods, so maybe it's a matter of poor absorption. Hmmmm...
