Avatar n tn All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out. Dandruff shampoo should be used every few days, and you may need to try several shampoos before you find one which works.
Avatar m tn I would go see another dermatologist about it before trying to treat it yourself. Dandruff shampoo should help a bit, but when I had eyebrow and face "dandruff" (seborrheic dermatitis), it was a course of ketoconazole cream that did the trick, and not the dandruff shampoo.
Avatar m tn While there is nothing much you can do to make the hair grow faster you can do a lot to improve the quality and quantity of hair. Head massage help and so does regular combing of hair. However, undue force should not be used. You could take iron and multivitamin pill. Keep the hair and scalp clean. Use mild shampoo. And, get a blood test done to see whether anemia, diabetes or hypothyroidism is the cause of hair fall. Also, rule out the possibility of dandruff as the cause.

Avatar m tn I used to have dandruff, but it has essentially cleared after using zinc shampoo a few times a week. But the skin is still greasy under my brow and on my eyelid, which results in hairs being weak and falling out. Any suggestions to clear up the greasy skin? I've tried hydrocortisone cream, but to little avail. Also, the condition seems to worsen after a night of drinking alcohol - is that part of the problem?
Avatar f tn My neice had something which sounds like the same problem you had and had to use a special shampoo for about a year and her hair did grow back. It Took a long time but it grew . I know being 14 is hard to have problems with losing hair . But thank goodness that you can still look very pretty with with weaves and wigs . No One has to know and the advantage of that is all the pretty hairstyles you can have as well as different colors. I use organic olive oil in my hair and it helps...

Avatar m tn Hi I've just found this forum and I'm delighted! I have to wash my hair EVERY day and by lunchtime it smells bad, more so on my scalp but my hair too! I've tried T-Gel, Nizorel, Vosene, Sulphur shampoo, anti dandruff stuff prescribed by the doctor (who actually didn't believe me, she clearly didn't get close enough!) and I'm starting to get paranoid, not to mention worried about the condition of my hair due to constant washing, drying straightening.

Avatar n tn You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.
Avatar m tn I'm a 24 yr old male and have various dry spots on my scalp; I first started getting dandruff a while back; now I have spots that are very visible, especially when I get out of the shower. They don't really itch or hurt but they do have a redness to them, but its just really dry patches; I've tried treating them with over-the-counter dandruff shampoo but to no avail.
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm moving along slowly. I'm almost 7 weeks. Is dandruff normal? If So is there any way to get rid of it? Thanks.
Avatar n tn It started out of the blue, my scalp became very itchy and I could not help scratching it, when I scratched it, what appeared to be white flakes of skin came off. I thought this was just normal dandruff so bought Anti-dandruff shampoo (over the years I have tried every Anti-dandruff shampoo you can think of, even stuff from my GP).
