As mentioned earlier I have tried products prescribed by my GP, Polytar shampoo and Betnovate lotion, neither of these have worked. Other than using an Anti-dandruff shampoo everyday and trying my hardest not to scratch I don't know what else to do. HELP!!!

Dear Doctor, I am 26, been losing hair since 2002. I inherited dandruff problem from my father. I take head bath everyday, if i dont my scalp gets filled with dandruff and extremely itchy. I used Head & Shoulders shampoo everyday which worked for dandruff but not itching. And it seemed that the shampoo worsened the hair loss problem; I started using herbal essence shampoo since last 15 months, i use it everyday. Dandruff and itching are controlled but I still loose lot of hair.

my doctor suggested me triclenz shampoo which contain sls but i am thinking to start with sebamed everyday shampoo. people say its a mild shampoo. what do u say..

One remedy is ad easy as shampooing everyday and using less conditioner on your scalp. You should also try using a clarifying shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner.

I really believe its the case for me. My scalp gets oily within 3-4 hours after a wash (and I shampoo everyday!). Any help would be appreciated.

Yes I would suggest using a head and shoulders type shampoo for dandruff (you may not have dandruff but the itchyness can be apart of that) if it persists, I'd suggest maybe going to the doctors, they may be able to prescribe something for it.

Hello, I think the doctor is talking about seborrehic dermatitis which is also called adult cradle cap. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist. Hope it helps.
