Common Questions and Answers about Dandruff remedies head and shoulders

dandruff

He said it was seborrheic dermatitis and that if I would wash my hair with this one shampoo and let it sit on my head for 10 minutes, rinse, and do it gain for 10 minutes, and to do that for three days, it would go away. He said the "spores" from the seborrheic dermatitis is what caused my eyelashes to fall out. So, I have done that off and on for two years. I have an appointment in March to see him again because it isn't working. It's worse.
For the past 5 months I have had dizziness every day, more like waves of dizziness that roll over me and especially when I turn my head to the left or right. I have this constant pressure in my head and rarely will I get headaches. My eyes feel weird and I don't really know how to describe the way they feel, I just feel kind of out of it. I also have this almost constant fatigue. I went to the Dr and he thinks I have a sinus infection from rubbing my eyes too much which sounds crazy to me.
It is also very flaky. I have been using head and shoulders for a while but it doesn't seem to help. What are some home remedies i can try? What over the counter products should i try? What shampoo and conditioner should I use? Please help!
I went to several doctors who have told me to try different dandruff shampoos (Selsun Blue, Nizoral 2%, Head and Shoulders) and none of the shampoos have ever worked. I've even tried leaving shampoo on my skin for several hours and then washing it off. I always thought it was tinea versacolor because of the photos I've seen of other cases, but none of the remedies have helped. Is there anything out there that will get rid of this fungus permanently?
About 2 years ago (when I was 23) I went to a hair salon, had my hair colored incorrectly, to fix this the colorist applied 2 different coloring treatments which were excruciating and made my scalp burn. Within the week I noticed that my hair started falling out more than normal. I went to my doctor and asked to check for vitamin/mineral efficiencies to make sure it wasn't the cause of my hair loss.
I have no idea what is going on with my face and I desperatly need help. For the past week there has been a patch of red, dry skin under my eye, on my upper cheek, and I have no clue what it is. At first I thought it was windburn, (my husband drives his jeep with the top off) so I began applying lotion all day and night. It burns and tingles a little whenever I apply it. The lotion isn't helping though.
For the last 6 months I have been getting tearing (look like paper cuts) in my vaginal area (1/4 to 1/2 inch long). I get the tears at least once or twice a week and they last from 2-4 days, go away for a few days and then come back. They continue to occur in the same locations; 1. Inside the vaginal lips on the sides almost always in the crease (between the labia minora and majora?) 2. Between the anus and vaginal opening (perineum) 3. Above the clitoris in the "hood" area.
I thought the tightness in my face was due to the cold weather and my face being dry, despite using a moisturizer daily. My neck and shoulders are tight as a drum, they have been for years, but the tindling and tightness is a new sensation altogether. I am also a Diabetic with a Pituitary Microadenoma and the thought of a stroke or blocked artery terrifies me. Even though I am only 27. My husband and I will make a trip to the doctor hopefully this week to get it checked out.
AND FOR THE WHITE RESIDUE I HAVE THAT AS WELL I WASH MY HAIR WITH THE CLINICAL STRENGTH HEAD AND SHOULDERS AND I ALSO RINSE MY HAIR WITH LEMON WATER!!! IT HAS ANTIMICROBIAL PROPERTIES.
Mine started with few sharp pains in my heart area and as i have noticed has gradually spead to my neck, head, and to my arms today. I have indeed noticed as someone said earlier that the pains never come when i am having fun or I am concentration on something interesting. However, once i do think about the pain or am not carried away by some activity, the stabbing pain reappears and often in different body parts at different areas. I have also felt it in my right foot for the first time today.
Your best bets are to pick up some Head and Shoulders/Selsun Blue/Nizoral shampoo (Nizoral is anti-dandruff/antifungal, highly recommended), use it regularly (at least a week) while reducing the heat of the water when showering, and your scalp will rebalance and your hair will return to normal. This is the best way to completely treat it. Please don't continue stripping your scalp... It will become a much worse problem if you do.
I have a staffie who also scratches a LOT and loses a lot of fur. The only way I've managed to control this, even with trying all the fancy pet products, is using anti dandruff shampoo for humans, but ONLY certain brands that aren't harsh, like Head & Shoulders.
And that means getting rid of all damaged ends. So, believe it or not, your first step is to suck it up and head to the salon for a good snip. How much is enough? Unless your hair is very thick or very curly, have the stylist trim until your hair is all one length (as short as the shortest layer in your hair). All-one-length hair stays healthier and that means you can grow it without having as many trims from here on out.
Lately it has become more intense sometimes waking me up at night. I am also experiencing scalp itching and have started using head and shoulders even though I have no dandruff. I do have dryness partly due to Type 2 Diabetes. I am seeking 1) any additional remedies, medical or homeopathic and 2) a prescription for Elidil. My Internist recently left private practice and I am currently un-insured.
Most people find that this allows them stop worrying in the immediate moment because they know they can do it a little later. This frees mental and emotional energy to focus on what's working and solutions for what isn't. The next step is to gradually reduce the daily time allotted to worrying. Freeing yourself from worry spares you emotional turmoil and allows you to focus your energy in more productive ways.
Also I have tried, salycylic shampoos, tar shampoos, jojoba oil, AND nothing seems to help. Please help me and my hair. I am a busy college student, who unfortunately does not have the time and money to deal with this.
Nothing helps, it is so infuriating I am an inch away from shaving my head and buying a wig collection - seriously! I have searched this online and there are literally hundreds of posts with no answer! I have asked a few doctors but am too embarrassed to bring it up again as they look at me like I am either insane or like 'so what' but it really effects my appearance, particualry at work as I think I look permanently dirty. HELP!
My scalp is very red, slightly smelly and itchy, however it is only down the centre part of my hair. In addition, I am losing handfuls of hair every time I wash it. I have tried oral antibiotics, topical antifungals, corticosteriods, coconut oil, Head & Shoulders shampoo for itchy scalp, Nizoral shampoo and Neutrogena Tar shampoo, however, nothing has improved my scalp. It started about five months ago and it is getting more severe.
I saw those remedies and diagnosis with other members thanks. Just for your information i have inreased my egg intake in the last 3 months but increased exercise as well. I have seen that some people say egg is bad for the liver and some say it cleans the liver??? i have noticed that drinking alcohol definitly makes it worse... I do not use any cleansers or soaps ( i don't suffer from pimples anymore) because they make it worse as well.
I kept it up in a bun didn't look bad up so didn't do anything until today. Washed it twice with Head and shoulders anti dandruff for women. Felt terrible. Washed it again with same shampoo, felt worse. Thought maybe faulty batch. Used my husbands Head and shoulders anti dandruff for men. As soon as I put it on felt like it wasn't lathering up just big chunk of hair. Tried the mint Head and shoulders. (Forget what it's called) Even worse.
I have not changed shampoos in 15 years (I alternate head and shoulders and Pantene). I have never had any problems with oily skin or oily hair ever. I wash my hair daily and condition. I have not changed my daily regimen in 2 years One thing I have tried was applied Shower to Shower powder to my hair before going to bed and washed out in the morning (not the sexiest looking thing at night but it helps). It drastically reduced the oil, but came back 2 days later.
The store was out of the Equate brand I have been using so I bought the Head and Shoulders brand and have been using it for about 2 months now, only to realize this week it's back! It's the oddest thing and everything just thinks I'm crazy, even hair specialists seem to have never heard of this. So I type all of this to say that the Equate brand of Head and Shoulders cleared it up for me 100%, so needless to say, I made a trip to the store today!
I FOUND A CURE!!!! So I posted a thread on this website about a week ago. I titled it different, but it is about the EXACT SAME problem!! My "grease spot" was apparent as soon as I got out of the shower. Therefore, I thought that whatever it was, it just wasn't washing out. So, last Saturday I took a shower and used Head & Shoulders. I scrubbed and scrubbed until my hands ached. I rinsed.
i have white speck on my shoulders and chest, and i went to this site and thought i had the fungus or whatever soo i bought me some selsun blue dandriff shampoo, and i took a shower put it all over my shoulders and chest and went to bed, and when i woke up it burnt badly, i thought it was burning the fungus and i washed it off and went to school, well i came home and did the same routine and within minutes after putting it on my skin felt like it was on fire, i middently washed it off, and the
Today I tried a combination of Head and Shoulders (anti-dandruff shampoo) and baking powder. Just mix 3 teaspoons of baking powder with any regular shampoo and it will turn a lovely foamy texture. Massage this generously into your scalp and leave for 5-10 minutes. At this point rinse it all out, then re-shampoo and rinse. After doing all of this, I blow-dried my hair and the problem was completely solved!
I am still in a great deal of pain and my sebborrheic dermatitis on the scalp is spreading and getting worse. I use head and Shoulders daily. I was also prescribed 2% Ketoconazole shampoo for my scalp but am terrified of it making my hair fall out or become dry and brittle... Has anyone ever tried Keto shampoo (Nizoral)? I would love to hear anymore thoughts on the scalp pain and also the seb derm. Thanks again!
The only thing that has helped is taking some acidophilus and vitamin c. Washing my face with head and shoulders with selenium and the best thing has been using aquafour healing ointment as a moisturizer. I hope this helps someone..
I am always into herbal remedies (which I have tried over and over and over again) and don't take medications, but I am actually wanting relief so bad that I will take accutane. I read your post and wanted to reply as I understand you. I am also about the same age starting accutane for the first time.
Update: Nov. 15, 2010 I had to go back to the medical to discuss the itching. I'm a navy wife so I live on the military base. The Allegra which I normally take for allergies is not helping with the stinging/itching/crawling skin. Nor is the atarax helping either. I gave up and started using Bendrayl at night to get some sleep. Without it I cannot sleep. I am still taking the Allegra. I was given a appointment with a Nurse Practitioner. They wouldn't let me see an actual doctor.
) is, have any of your patients ever had success with bathing with Head and Shoulders before?? A week ago, i woke up and it had spread all over my scalp and gave me REALLY BAD dandruff to the point I wanted to cry and just throw my hands up!! It looked like one big white sheet on my scalp and it had spread down my forehead a little also..Well i bought some H&S and I mixed it with a little T-Gel in my hand and let it sit for about 10 min and rinsed it out..
