Seborrehic dermatitis, also called adult cradle cap is usually caused by overgrowth of Malassezia furfur. This skin disease is aggravated by sweating and humidity. i have red bumps all over my scalp and it has been there for about 2 years. i have a habit of scratching my head even if it is not itchy. whenever i slip my fingers onto my scalp i kind of feel a rough tiny tiny thing and i will pluck it or just scratch it of. it would always be a very tiny piece of dead skin and sometimes it would be a tiny white solid really tiny. i did not lose hair or feel itchy but im scared.

Recently, i have got some hard dandruff patches on my scalp. I experience a lot of itching in them. I oil my scalp regularly and use an anti dandruff shampoo but so far no improvement. I have 4-5 such patches on my scalp and every time i brush my hair, a lot of dandruff comes out. Someone please advise!

I never really go to a doctor for medication for that, but I do try some dandruff shampoo to reduce the dandruff. Some of them work, but after a while the dandruff will come back. It's really annoying but sometimes it's okay, no dandruff at all, but sometimes gets alot. I think season changes is one of the reasons. Maybe my scalp is really sensitive. I do wash my head almost everyday to keep it clean. Yea, I will keep changeing pillow case or anything will touch my scalp.

t anything visible except dandruff, so is my hair loss without scalp disease? My father has dandruff too but not hair loss. so, is my hair loss associated with tinea? Once I did take pills suggested by a dermatologist but that did not really help.

Selaun blue is AWESOME there's also this stuff and I can never remember what its called but its tar something or the other and obviously its brown. I find mine at Walmart and they have an equate brand. It is also amazing. I personally like the way it smells (I'm weird I also like the way laquer thinner smells) anyway it smells like tar but girl.it is awesome too! I don't have dandruff but I have always had a sensitive scalp and too many scents in a shampoo male my scalp break.

m going off of what I vaguely remember lol. There are 3 causes for dandruff dry scalp, oily scalp, and a fungus. The condition of your scalp is what is going to tell u which treatment to use. One remedy is ad easy as shampooing everyday and using less conditioner on your scalp. You should also try using a clarifying shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner.

hi, i have a 11 year old son that has 2 small red, raw spots on the top of his head/scalp. The rest of his scalp looks perfect. He has a crew cut so it is very easy to see. It itches him a lot. I know head lice is sometimes in school, but i have looked very good and see nothing of that nature. I only see some light, flaky dandruff in some parts. Pls help. thx.

I have a quarter sized red inflamation on my scalp right at the top of my forehead. It itches and stings a little. But i've always had really bad dry scalp and dandruff. Also I noticed that my lymph nodes. (the ones behind my ears and at my jaw line are swollen. Its like raised bruises. I got some dandruff shampoo to hope that it will help but some people are telling me I should go to the doctor. I'd like to avoid paying the fees if at all possible.

I, too, have tried different shampoos, including those with tea tree oil in them and others for so-called dry, itchy scalp-but it's usually for dandruff users. You can tell its dandruff or dry scalp by the colour and if there is a smell present or not. Dandruff is yellowish and gives off an odour.

My scalp is currently burning and itching, I'm sitting here running a brush through it because it just won't stop, my head has been kind of itchy for the passed couple weeks but I didn't think much of it since I thought it was just dandruff, it wasn't too bad until tonight, and now it's affecting my neck but not as bad my head. Hello, Seborrehic dermatitis or adult cradle cap can present like dandruff but other causes like dandruff, folliculitis of the scalp, fungal infections, alopecia aereata, hormonal imbalance (overproduction of dihydrotestosterone and thyroid hormones irregularities),malnutrition, telogen effluvium and sebum plugs on skin also need to be ruled out one by one.

t wash your hair more than needed, over washing can dry out your scalp. Try a coconut oil mask and concentrate it at your scalp/ roots then leave it in for 30 minutes or overnight. You can also buy masks from beauty stores as well.

s but do not experience the itchy, splotchy face. I have been experiencing the most dry scalp that I thought my dandruff shampoo was not working or else I had lice (work with kids). I know that dry skin is one symptom of the disease, I just haven't had too much dryness except for this itchy scalp and dryness on the arms. I take 75 mcg of levoxyl. I am going to ask my doctor about the dry scalp. Hopefully, you find an answer for it. Keep me posted!

well, i don't have the greasy, dandruff problem. My scalp is fine. My hair will still curl if i put mousse in it and scrunch it while it's still wet. But not with a curling iron. I just found it to be the oddest thing! It has also become unmanageably thick! But very shiny =] I'm pretty happy with it most of the time, as long as I don't try to curl it with a curling iron!

I have had dandruff on scalp since very long time. But recently due to some reason I have very bad acne on face. Fearing that those would leave me marks I went to dermatologist and was prescribed acne clear gel, hidrate lotion and adaferin gel. I have been using acne gel and hidrate lotion from one month my acne settled well. But from last 3 days I am getting very bad white flakes on face. My face is tight and some time applying lotion burns my face.

Hi, I've had a rash? on the top of my scalp for a while(more than a year), not itchy, but it is dry and flakes when I scratch it. It is roughly round shaped, about 1 1/2 inches in diameter and red but seems to get lighter colored or darker from time to time. Another thing I noticed is that if I do scratch it hard and hold a tissue over the area there is a clear fluid on the tissue, and if i put alcohol on the area at any time it is more sensitive than the rest of my scalp.

I'm having some very bad dandruff since i got pregnant. nothing helps. I've tried t-gel and head and shoulders. Any other suggestions?
