People with seborrheic dermatitis produce too much sebum (the natural skin oil). Later, pityrosporum yeast grows excessively in the sebum, sometime along with bacteria, making the dermatitis more persistent. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches.

I have been given a steroid based cream..which completely clears it up but am worried about how often I should use it on my face. I don't want to use it all the time but it does work. I live in Japan and have asked the doctor and pharmacist this question but don't really understand the answers they gave me.

Avatar n tn They seem to be made out of dandruff or built up dead skin cells, but I use a specialized shampoo that keeps my scalp moisturized since I've had dandruff issues before. The bumps leak a clear fluid when I scratch them off, and, as expected of an open "wound", sting when in contact with anything external. There is no specific odor that is identifiable, and I have not been able to see one of the bumps via a photo to determine color.

It could also be due to seborrheic dermatitis or dandruff. Tinea capitis is another differential which could be diagnosed with the skin scrapings evaluated under the microscope. Also I have read on Internet that these doesn't have cure? When I get up in morning I see white flakes on face. Also after washing my face becomes completely dry and flakes would appear which doesn't go away until I apply lotion to hide it.
