I am a 24 year old woman who has long, thick brown hair. People always tell me how beautiful my hair is and comment on how silky, shiny, and thick it is. All my life I've been able to run my hands through it! About two months ago, the texture of my hair has changed and is more coarse like and is falling out. Now, when I run my hands through my hair, at least 3 to 10 hairs will come out.

Will the selection of shampoo have results on my dandruff and hair-fall? If so suggest a shampoo to get rid of both t.he things..

All these shampoos just made my hair fall out more and gave me more dandruff. So yet again I went to a different dermatologist, who said that I was experiencing the hair loss because of the dandruff/seborrhea. Hello ! I am a 21 yr old boy. I have been taking thyroid medicine(Levo) ,since 3 months and the name of medicine is - Thyroup 50 . I haven't seen any relief for hair loss. I went to the doctor today and she said she is 100% sure its not the valtrex. she examined my hair, pulled on it and noticed it is falling out, from the root. She asked about changes in my stress, and ordered blood work to check for my iron and my thyroid. She also prescribed a topical solution to rub on my scalp every night for two weeks. Since then I have stopped taking the valtrex. My boyfriend tested negative for it. What is the likelyhood he will get it with me being off valtrex.

In my case, I've had HCV for 30+ years. My hair has always been thick - not course but lots of it. Sadly, now in my 29th wk of tx, I've probably lost 1/3 of it. I started out with long hair and it's really short now. Seems to appear fuller with the length cut off. Someone may have experienced hair loss prior to tx but I did not so can't comment on that. What about male pattern baldness? Does you family have a history of early hair loss? Any relatives bald or balding?

I have gone to the dermatologist and been told it just a dry spot and not fungal and given some moisturizers and cortisone, but did not seem to help much. I have even tried ketaconazole, it reduces the flaking, but the redness is still there. The hair in the area of the rash is not falling out. Thanks for any help or suggestion regarding this.
