D phenylalanine vs l phenylalanine

Common Questions and Answers about D phenylalanine vs l phenylalanine

carbohydrate

Avatar m tn First, artificial sweeteners are bad for you. Period. Worse for your health than eating a moderate amount of good old natural sugar. The word you're looking for is phenylalanine, with an n, not an m. Aspartame is made mostly of two amino acids, they're not metabolites of it -- aspartic acid and phenylalanine. The L- should be in front of amino acids most of the time, as it describes the form and is the proper name, but when we talk about them we usually leave off the L-.
Avatar f tn Has anyone combined amino acids such as DL-phenylalanine and L-Tryptophan with antipsychotics? I take 7.5 mg of Zyprexa. Just read Julia Ross's book The Mood Cure and want to address sleep and eating problems with amino acids.
262294 tn?1236176870 (DL-Phenylalanine) DLPA is a mixture of the natural form of phenylalanine (the L form) and its mirror image (the D form). DLPA may have the unique ability to block the enzyme (enkephalinase) in the central nervous system that is responsible for breaking down natural, morphine-like hormones called endorphins and enkephalins. So it the endorphins last longer and this stuff supposedly helps produce more neurotransmitters (endorphins).
Avatar f tn From what I have learned the important amino acids are DL Phenylanine (not L phenylalanine) precursor for dopamine and also blocks the substance that destroys endorphins/enkephalins (natural opiates). L phenylalanine breaks down into tyrosine, precursor for dopamine. Dopamine is the energy neurotransmitter and involved in the reward system underlying addiction. Cocaine and amphetamine act like dopamine substitutes and become depleted during use of those stimulants.
401095 tn?1351391770 i had been taking the tyrosine...i went and got the 5htp, glutamine, methionine, phenylalanine and theanine...i took the methionine and the theanine last night around 6 for the first time...i was worried as i knew some keep u awake...i was so sleepy i was in bed by 9...sterling said it was the theanine that made me so sleepy...i took 200 mg...just thought it may help those with sleep problems...it also made me feel very relaxed...
Avatar m tn tyrosine is great for energy..and exercise is great as well...5htp will help depression as will phenylalanine...read up on the amino acids..and exercise as much as u can...
200220 tn?1361951554 but during the past two years most supplements, even multivitamins, seem to aggravate my condition. L-phenylalanine (or however you spell it) and L-Tyrosine were others that seemed to help with the head. I was always cautious about taking too much for too long of a time, etc.--protein balance. As a matter of fact, before I had this Graves' thing, Niacin--B3--used to be a REAL help to me. Some articles worn about taking large doses, but years ago I used to take 2,000-3,000 mg a day.
Avatar f tn essentials for me are Tyrosine...Phenylalanine....5htp.... Theanine.....methionone/SAMe......(methionone is much cheaper than SAMe and SAMe is a by product in the break down of methionone),,,...u need atleast 2000 mg a day of tyrosine and phenylalanine/both cheap/ at the start...they come in 500 mg pills....5htp helps with depression and so does methionone/SAMe...Theanine helps with anxiety and is probably the most expensive...
957301 tn?1257690688 l-tyrosine is a bit duplicative as l-phenylalanine is a precursor for L-tyrosine, (phenylalanine plus a hydroxyl group = tyrosine). Both can help with energy so if you are not getting jitters or palpitations from taking both, don't worry. Take these in the morning to minimise any interference with sleep. The amino acid N-acetyl-cysteine has been found effective as a mood stabiliser & one published study found it significantly reduced cravings for ex cocaine users.
Avatar m tn I guess you can tell me what would be the most important between both protocols to take from day 1 to 4 during the worst W/D symptoms. I know I suffer the most with anxiety and depression, the pain I can manage with the baths, etc. My biggest worry is the RLS, anxiety/depression big time. Please forward me the best few products to take, I can't afford an entire drugs store of vitamins...
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, there is no rubidium supplements available in any local natural food stores Boosting your body’s own depression fighters Your nerve cells and other cells use specialized enzymes to transform the essential amino acid phenylalanine and its derivative tyrosine into the neurotransmitters noradrenalin, adrenalin, and dopamine.
581310 tn?1253029550 s and selenium, magnesium and two amino acids L-Tyrosine and L-Phenylalanine. I heard these two amino acids are good for hypothroidism. Has anyone taken a supplement like this and has it worked for them.
Avatar f tn if you're getting low in dopamine, a lot of folks try using the precursor nutrients, such as tyrosine, or phenylalanine DL. It's found in chicken, eggs, milk and cottage cheese. Tyrosine converts into leva dopa, and you could try mucuna pruriens for that, but dosage is sketchy on each brand. L-dopa is the last stop on the train before dopamine, cuz from what I understand, you can't "take dopamine". You give your body the nutrient and it has to make the stuff.
189586 tn?1297254061 re asking about a mixture of the two forms of phenylalanine, an amino acid that is the precursor of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine. L-phenylalanine has been used for treatment of depression; D-phenylalanine, which is believed to help prevent breakdown of the brain's natural painkillers may help some people with chronic pain. DLPA includes both forms. Today, I find the evidence for DLPA's effectiveness weak and no longer recommend it.
9552239 tn?1404989880 I read about SAMe but like you said I was scared off by the warnings, ( I also read up on L-phenylalanine which looks interesting but again I am a bit nervous to try it, do you think that the DPLA version is safer?) so, I was thinking to try L-tyrosine with vitamin B6. Maybe start with a low dose? I will look up that book you recommended. I will keep you posted. I would be interested to hear how you get on too. All the best... Thank you again for taking the time to reply.
Avatar f tn t only contain caffeine and artificial sweeteners, it also contains phenylalanine, a precursor to brain neurotransmitters such as tyrosine, norepinephrine, etc. It's listed off to the side of the can. A bit sneaky. And can be speedy.
Avatar f tn Vitamins are natural..what u do not need is excreted..except the fat soluble vitamins A,D,E and K....like GTM said it is never harmful to take vitamins as directed especially during drug use, tapering, or detox..most addicts do not eat right and quitting drugs takes a toll on our body especially our immune systems...pump up the C as many get sick alot after quitting.....B6 alone is not going to do an awful lot but a good B complex vitamin will help a whole lot...
Avatar m tn Supplementation with ginkgo biloba may improve repigmentation because of its free radical quenching abilities, according to the University of Michigan Health System. Another natural supplement is L-phenylalanine, an amino acid, that when combined with ultraviolet light exposure may cause repigmentation. Since these treatments are not well studied, consult with her doctor before taking either supplement. Foods that contain hydroquinone may worsen the light skin patches.
