Cytomel twice a day

Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel twice a day

cytomel

Avatar f tn I had a thyroidectomy in 2008 and ever since then I have been on a roller coaster of Synthroid! Up and down. 112 to 150mcg's. Finally Mr. Perfect Endoman has saved me with the Cytomel 5mcg in the am/pm. HOWEVER I started the cytomel just in the am while I was on 137mcg of Synthroid. I dropped every afternnoon about 3pm to total sleepytown. I mean like I couldn't hardly stay awake. So Mr. Perfect Endo dropped my Synthroid to 112mcg's and Cytomel twice a day.
Avatar f tn I dropped the dose to 2.5mcg twice a day and felt MUCH better. After 2 weeks I upped that dose back to 5 mcg twice a day and many of my symptoms have gone away. I still have some hypo symptoms, but just need to be patient and give my body more time to adjust to the cytomel and see if I need another increase. I also take 135mg of Synthroid( I was taking 150mg before adding T3). I'm hoping the cytomel is the answer to my lingering hypo symptoms.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I would go slow on the T3 if you are sensitive. I got impatient when I started Cytomel. I started on 5mcg twice a day, it was too much & had to backtrack. If I were you I would do 2.5mcg twice a day for at least two weeks, then 5mcg twice a day for a least two weeks, then 7.5mcg ect.
Avatar f tn My docter lowered synthyroid to 125 mcg and added 12.5 cytomel 2 times a day. I am wondering if that is too much cytomel? My docter said as long as the other level were fine and I felt ok . But I seemed hungery and my hair was thinning.
1129774 tn?1279831762 30 and eat breakfast at 7:00. I talked to the pharmacist and she said I can take the cytomel whenever. With breakfast I take all my vitamins Multi, calicum, mag,. probiotic, vit. d, and cranberry. Can I take both at 5:30 in the morning? Or should I wait until after breakfast. I decided to only start with one a day and see how I do. I am afraid of getting to much. Thanks.
299033 tn?1393301417 Hi, I am at a loss to know how I can fit in T3 three times a day and two calcium supplements three times a day if they have to be taken 4 hours apart how do I fit that in please? Does anyone manage this situation?
Avatar f tn I had a thyrodectemy in April 2016. I was still having symptoms but not gaining weight. My Dr. decided to add cytomel, which I am excited about. So my Dr. lowered my synthroid to 125 mg 6x's a week and 5 mg of cytomel 4x's a week. I am also taking calcium twice a day at 600mg and 40,000 IU once a week with calcitrol twice a day as well. At first I was getting anxiety as a result of taking cytomel, but everytime I took my calcitrol I became so tired. My Dr.
6555161 tn?1382381862 d feel more comfortable starting off on just a quarter twice a day at first, and they were okay with that, and I could go up to 2.5 twice a day when I felt more comfortable doing so. I felt better first starting it, too, but I do feel some things need to be tweaked now. It's helped the brain fog, definitely-I forgot my second dose of it the other day (my own stupid fault) and wow, I felt horrible without it, so even though I'm not yet balanced, I can tell that it is doing something.
Avatar f tn Also I see that some people split the pill to take it twice a day.
1202943 tn?1347840652 My dr wanted me to lower my dose but I convinced her to increase my cytomel(from 5mcg twice a day to 7.5 twice a day) and decrease synthroid(137mcg to 125mcg). I have had improvement on all symptoms, but still feel hypo. My dr said my levels looked a little high and if I feel jittery I can reduce the dose or stay where I am. I have an appt in March and if I still feel hypo I will push for an increase in cytomel up to 10mcg twice a day.
1369218 tn?1282423884 I have been on it for 7 months. I also do break up twice a day. So, what do you do? Do you have pharmacy compound T3 and T4??
Avatar n tn 9, he decided to change my synthroid to 100 much and added Cytomel 5mcg twice a day. I’m not familiar with Cytomel, will the addition of this medicine compensate reducing my synthroid? Will it help with my Simptoms? Thank you!
Avatar n tn I just started cytomel a week ago, I am on 5mcg twice daily, I have noticed now at exactly the 8th day that my face is starting to really break out?? Is this one of the side effects of cytomel, and does anyone know if Phendimetrizine is allowed to be taken the same time as cytomel??
534785 tn?1329592208 I have hypothyroidism and currently take 175mg of Levothyroxine once daily in the morning. My doctor seems to think that because I still exhibit a lot of hypothyroid symptoms—fatigue, brittle nails, dry skin, trouble losing weight—that my dose should be slowly increased until my symptoms disappear (despite TSH being very low and T4/FT4 holding steady). This presents an issue as I also have a genetic heart arrhythmia, RVOT Ventricular Tachycardia.
Avatar n tn Wow, finally found someone who feels tired on cytomel. I was kinda getting frustrated because everyone else feels energy! although I have only been on it for 3 days i don't think it is helping much. my FT3 level was 286. pre synthroid 50 it was 230 range is 230-450. doc has upped my sythroid to 75 and added 25mcg's of cytomel which on other post you guys are saying NO WAY. so I have been cutting the pill in 1/4's. so that is about 6.25 mcg's of cytomel twice a day.
Avatar n tn I added 5mcg of cytomel twice a day and decreased my synthroid from150 to 137. At first I felt better, but after a week my I felt awful & I had a constant headache. Many people are very sensitive to T3 meds especially if you've been hypo for awhile. I had to back down to 2.5mcg twice a day for about 2 weeks and then increase slowly.
Avatar n tn Hmm, only problem is I broke out in a rash/hives I counted 24 mosquito like bumps on my stomach and neck which also have went away since I stopped taking levo they were popping up a few each day until the last couple days it was really bad and I was itching like crazy. I take the armour twice 7 and again 11 that seems to be the time I crash. **** I wish I could get synthroid with my insurance.
Avatar f tn I just reduced my synthroid from 137 to 125. I also increased cytomel from 5mcg twice a day, to 7.5mcg twice a day. It's been less than a week and I already feel a little better. My dr did not want to switch up my meds, but I convinced her. I'm sure that low Free T3 correlates most with hypo symptoms. BTW, cytomel is very hard to split. My dr suggested taking 10mcg in the morning & 5mcg at night. I really like taking the same amount each time.
Avatar f tn so i cut it in half now.. for few days .. i will take only half then i will take twice a day .... should i be on synthroid too.. he said no.. but i feel i should take both....... or little of both... but im scared to go agasint his orders.. but we need t3 and t4 conversion.. so i dont know what to do i want to feel well. but i feel awful lately..... just want to get on with life.. but i feel depressed down on myself.no energy or desire to live......
Avatar f tn Should I cut the Cytomel in 1/2 and take it twice a day instead of once a day? I know I have read posts here that say that it is short-lived and that taking it in 2 doses might be better. Any thoughts????? Thanks so much! I am hoping that the T3 helps me feel better. I have VERY HIGH hopes for this...hoping this is the missing piece to my thyroid puzzle!!! Thanks again!
Avatar f tn I had to reduce to 2.5mcg twice a day for two weeks and now up to 5mcg twice a day for four weeks. My dr only reduced my synthroid from 150 to 137 but I was feeling really hypo. I am feeling much better and many of my hypo symptoms have gone away. I've also lost about 5 pounds, before that my weight wouldn't budge even though I was eating healthy and exercising 3-4 times a week. Good Luck!
Avatar n tn Thanks! I took half of a 5mcg of cytomel late afternoon and felt on edge. I took a quarter this morning and felt good. I think I'll start with a quarter twice a day and see how it goes. I just hate to have to adjust my synthroid because I feel I am at a good dose. I appreciate the responses.
1369218 tn?1282423884 They started about 6 months ago, so I was lowered from 10 of Cytomel split twice a day to one a day. I did that for a while and the palps and diarehha started. I then forgot a Cytomel on day and I did not have the diarehha. I had been suffering from that for about 6 weeks. My body is definitly shifting lately. I don't know what to do, but I do not like how Cytomel makes me feel. I see a new endo next month, so hopefully she can help me better. Unfortunatly though I am not holding my breath.
Avatar f tn so I know an unhealthy decision, but I started taking meltdown (fat burner) twice a day and started two a day workouts to try to shed the fat...to no avail, I just got fatter....I have NO ENERGY, NO SEX DRIVE, NO MOTIVATION...very unlike me...I am DESPERATE for answers! Here is my blood work below: progesterone-1.0 ng/ml (LOW, but in the lowest range) TSH-.01 (WAY LOW...should be .4-4.5) ESTRADIOL-17 (Low, but in range) CORTISOL-15.
314892 tn?1264623903 Does he have you taking 5mcg am and 5 mcg pm? My endo was going to put me on cytomel with the synthroid if armour doesn't work. He said it is important to dose it twice a day because the T3 med is short lived......just like with armour being short lived because of T3. I personally know people who have had success with cytomel. I just preferred myself to try Armour first. How is your Lymes treatment going? I hope you are doing well....it is not an easy road.
822804 tn?1298226302 You should go very slow on that - start out with 5mcg and try that for a couple weeks, maybe go up to 5mcg twice a day for a few weeks etc, to the elimination of symptoms. Of course you would need to consult your dr on all this but it helped me out a lot. I swear we as patients seem to know more than our doc's. Make sure you are an informed patient. This forum is full of very good information.
590006 tn?1221271520 My T3 is in the normal range and my TSH is 1.4. My endo was going to put me on Cytomel 5 mcg just in the morning (not twice a day). I took Cytomel for a year a couple years back. It made me feel better (fatigue and brain fog gone), but I became hyper one year later. My TSH was .419. I thought trying the Cytomel again with a TSH of 1.4 would work with an adjustment to the unithroid. And truthfully I feel lousy at 1.4. I felt better at .669 but when the Cytomel was added I jumped to .
