Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel tablets

cytomel

Avatar n tn Hi Again, I have been reading here and seeing a lot about both Armour and Thyrolar as thyroid replacement. Before going off my meds to be scanned again I was taking both Synthroid and Cytomel, will these in combination do the same thing as Armour or Thyrolar? I am still learning ,and as a lot of you know the first year after Thyroid cancer, your brain doesn't seem to work properly all the time, so concentration is limited at times to say the least.
Avatar f tn Can I take B12 tablets that dissolve under in your mouth one hour after taking Tirosint and at the same time as taking Cytomel? Can I take B Complex at the same time or within an hour of taking my afternoon dose of Cytomel? I'm low in B12 and I suspect B's in general (low a.m. cortisol and I get stressed too easily), but I've heard that B vitamins generally and B12 especially is energizing and I don't want to have (more) problems staying a sleep than I already do.
Avatar m tn m not sure what you mean by 25mcg/5mcg of cytomel. Synthetic T3 medications, typically, come in 5, 10 or 25 mcg tablets. I, typically, recommend getting the 5 mcg tablets, no matter what your total dosage is, since it's easier to control/split dosages, without having to split pills. It's recommended that those of us on T3 medications split the dosage in 2 during the day in order to keep T3 levels stable throughout the day.
5133140 tn?1364525169 s why I asked about trying Cytomel. So, he has adjusted my meds to 88mcg Synthroid + 5mcg Cytomel. So, far....I do feel better. The past few days infact, I haven't been *as* tired in the afternoon.
Avatar f tn You seemed to have isolated the palps to the Cytomel. Why not try to stay off Cytomel and try increasing your Levo again? If take Cytomel once a day maybe try taking it mid day?
Avatar n tn hi,I have been on the same generic version of cytomel since July.once i tried another brand and i swear it made me feel ill, like slow walking..anyways we changed pharmasists and the only kind they have is the one i felt made me sick..so im trying it today..would there be any difference.i dont see how just a different manafactuer could make the pill make me feel bad I think Im just scared.
Avatar f tn Could these be caused by thyroid or thyroid meds? Because of the supply problem, I just switched to 150 mcg. of levoxyl and 50 mcg. of cytomel. I seem to be having more palpitations on this drug? I also have "sweats" and anxiety. Thanks!
Avatar n tn 5 mcg Cytomel tablets. T3 has such a short halflife that it really does have to be taken in more than one dose or you get peaks and valleys in your levels.
Avatar m tn I have been feeling better than I started out last year but I usually feel better when the doctor changes the dosage and then it gradually gets crappy. (tired, achy, feeling cold) This time I stayed relatively stable. Right before last Thurs when I got my blood drawn I didn't feel great but not as horrible as I usually feel by the time I'm due for a blood draw. So the doctor called me today and told me to take one 5mcg Cytomel in the am then take 5mcg of Cytomel at 2pm.
Avatar f tn I've been on cytomel for about 8 years but changed drs about two years ago. She continued to prescribe my cytomel and synthroid doing tsh checks every six months. Just about every time I went in she would talk about not understanding the cytomel prescription. I just went for another tsh test and she decided not to prescribe the cytomel and only the synthroid. I spoke with the nurse and asked if the test included a t3 test and were my levels off.
Avatar n tn t answer your specific question about the conversion to synthroid/cytomel, but I have to ask - about a generic for cytomel? According to both my endo and pharmacist, there is no generic for cytomel......

However, I’m stressed, and under medication for a UTI.
Avatar n tn When I was on Synthroid (50 mg) I was very depressed. The doctor added Cytomel, 5 mcg and lowered my Synthroid to 25 mg and I felt great for 2-4 days, but then it was back to being miserable. I then went to a different doctor who is obsessed with T3 and added up to 15 mcg Cytomel which made me feel like I had an electric shock running through my veins. QUESTION #1: Why did I get suicidal depression every morning when I was on the 50 mg Synthroid?
6555161 tn?1382381862 ve still been only doing the Cytomel in small increments since I was waiting for my dose of T4 to get out of my system a little more (was on alternating of 88 and 100, now just on 88) and my Ft4 was pretty up there, but I think in the coming few days, I'm going to start increasing that. They wanted me to take a full five mcg a day and right now I'm just doing 2.5 (split into two doses) so I think actually moving up to a full 5mcg split twice will help.
1211076 tn?1303519440 My endo originally put me on 10 mcg cytomel (supposedly 1 dose/day); however, it came in 5 mcg tablets, so I started out taking one (5 mcg) with my levo in the morning and the other (5 mcg) around noon; I started going hyper quickly, so we have now dropped that to 5 mcg. It took a while to get the regimen worked out, but now I take my levo when I get up at 3:00 am, then wait to take my cytomel between 7:00 - 8:00 am.
Avatar f tn For thyroid cancer they may want to suppress your TSH further. FT4 looks good. T3 total is not usually referred to. FT3 is more usually used. But yours is low for both. You may benefit with the addition of a T3 med - cytomel or dessicated to get your FT3 into mid to high normal range. How do you feel? Are you having hypothyroid symptoms? IF so you may want to discuss possibility of adding a T3 med to the T4 med. Let us know.
Avatar f tn I have tried several doses of synthroid as well as several combinations of cytomel and synthroid but I am still not feeling better. After bouncing from meds to meds, after only being on them for a few months i decided to try a new approach....I changed Drs. This new dr. Recomended that i stay on my meds for six months before reassessing and changing meds.
