cytomel

558402 tn?1227060516 5 Cytomel twice daily. Now my Endo wants to decrease the Synthroid to .50 and keep the Cytomel as is. Why would my TSH be so low, with a normal range T4? My Endo is not really interested in how I feel. I am curious what those of you 'in the know' might think. Thank you!
Avatar n tn So I quit Armour about 9 months ago because I had a horrible reaction to the new formulation. I started back on synthroid and cytomel, but the cytomel made me feel anxious. I stopped the cytomel and had thought I was doing great. I feel better than I had in over a year, but I guess I was feeling so bad before that anything would have been better. I just got my blood test results which I found suprising. My TSH is .049, Free T4 1.52 (72% of range) and my Free T3 283 (only 28% of range.
Avatar n tn TSH 2.56 Free T4 1.29 Free T3 3.2 Still tired and not feeling very well so this is what the doctor is proposing. Continue on 75mc Synthroid and the 5mg (split between 2 doses) from Monday-Saturday. Then on Sunday take 1 1/2 of my 75 mc Synthroid with the cytomel. Any thoughts on that? Since I'm so sensitive to medications wouldn't it be better for me to take an 88 on Saturday and Sunday? I think it works out to the same dosage over the weekend??
Avatar n tn I began to feel a little hyper, which is how I have felt pretty much on any Cytomel. My results are below. Can I please get your opinion on the lab results? Also, can you please tell me approximately what the Free T4 should be? Thank you so much.
1956603 tn?1325036186 I FEEL GREAT!!! The bottom set of test results (TSH & T4) were drawn on Nov 10, 2011. They didn't test FT3 in that lab (or if they did...they didn't send me the result). The top set of labs were just taken on Jan 31st. My doctor added the Cytomel around Dec 28th, I believe. I took the Tirosint first thing in the am with one 5mcg Cytomel and then took the other 5mcg Cytomel between 1-3 pm. I had been on Tirosint 150 mcg for several months prior to the Cytomel.
317787 tn?1473358451 Before I had my blood work, my doctor told me to stop the Cytomel for a day or two as it could mess up the results. I am curious to find out how others are tested. Do you stop your Cytomel? While my TSH looks fine my t3 and t4 seem low to me Thank you, Dee My TSH .511 (.350-5.500) Free T3 2.31 (2.30 - 420 Free T4 .9 (.06 - 1.
Avatar n tn These were my results before adding the cytomel. Today these are my results. T3 2.4, TSH 1.38 and Free T4 .99. I want to know if I’m moving in the right direction?
Avatar n tn Everything was great until last summer I have been starting to gain weight approximately 10 lbs. and feeling really tired. My doctor raised me to 5mg of cytomel but I didnt feel any better and my free t4 came back low (0.48)so he changed me to 90 mg of Armour in June. I lost 3 lbs but didnt really feel any better still tired. I just had my blood work done and my TSH came in at .04 (from 0.41)free t3 2.8 (from 3.1 when on armour 60 and 5mg cytomel) and my free t4 is 0.68(from 0.
Avatar m tn They should habe immediately lowered your levo dosage when they gave you the script for cytomel. Check again on the script for the cytomel. Starting dosage is usually 5mgs two times per day, with lowered dosage of T4 med by 25mcgs I think. Yes it is nice to hear they are jointly working together to get you better!
Avatar f tn It looks like your Synthroid dose might be a little high; your FT4 is over range. At the same time, your FT3is just midrange, which can be a little low, expecially when coming off NT with its T3 support. It's possible that conversion will kick in and improve if you give it a little time. I've always found that my FT3 lags behind changes in my FT4. On the other hand, you might ask your doctor about decreasing your Synthroid a little and adding in some Cytomel.
Avatar f tn Initally - going on a T3 med - Cytomel in addition to the Synthroid - you will feel great - then crash. This applies to natural thyroid combo meds too. T3 hormone is direct - which means your body accepts it immediately. You expressed you felt aweful prior to starting Cytomel - so that says you were hypothyroid and wanted direct T3. Well, you gave the body - what it needed - but it wants more. This is proven on your FT3 lab - the only thing is this is an old lab so one can only assume.
Avatar f tn I need help deciding what direction to go with thyroid meds. I was previously on tirosint 100mcg and cytomel 5 mcg until march of this year due to insurance no longer covering. I wasn't 100%, but life was tolerable. I switched to levoxyl at same dosage. In july I started to experience hair loss, dizziness, muscle twitches, and sleep became disrupted. I have dealt with burning muscle pain and stiffness in my upper back for years. I had doc appt last week.
Avatar n tn I was put on Cytomel 25mcg in am one week ago, my lab results came back today as TSH .06 & FT4 .51. Could someone please explain to me what this means... Thanks much!

765572 tn?1234697366 Can you take just Cytomel? I am on levothyroxine and feeling awful. I heard that this generic of Synthroid is actually not the same as Synthroid and that it is not as good. I heard some people have fabulous results on Armour and Cytomel. Why are Dr's so reluctant to prescribe these other meds? I heard Cytomel really helps with fatigue. All I want to do is sleep, it's awful.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking 0.05 of synthroid in the am along with 5 cytomel and I take another 5 cytomel in the afternoon. What would you suggest I take to get my FT3 and Ft4 levels up. My symtoms, can't get the weight off and also extremely dry skin, face peeling, lips dry all the time and hair still falling out. Achy leg and hip bones at night.
822804 tn?1298226302 I am currently taking synthroid 150mcg and cytomel 25mcg 1/2 tablet daily. My bloodwork results just came in but im not sure how to read them or whats good and whats bad. Ft4 is 1.5 TSH is 0.02 and TT3 is 232 which my doctor noted she wanted me to decrease the cytomel to 25mcg 1/2 every other day.
Avatar f tn if not he wants to put me on Cytomel w/ the synthroid. Does that sound right? my t3 went up 50 points. Any suggestions? thank you.
1154561 tn?1275254669 I recently switched from levoxyl/cytomel to armour about 4 months ago. I have to say I am feeling good, alot better than I did on the levoxyl/cytomel. Here are my recent labs. I started out on 60mg of armour and now on 90mg. What do you guys think? TSH : 0.01 (0.40-4.50) Free T4 : 1.1 (0.8-1.8) Free T3 : 373 (230-420) T3 uptake: 29 (22-35) T4 Total : 9.9 (4.5-12.5) Free T4 index : 2.9 (1.4-3.
903476 tn?1242237037 The dr keeps saying we have to take it slow. One of my other doctors said I needed cytomel instead. Will the cytomel regulate my thyroid back to normal? I've been 110lbs my adult life then all of sudden I'm 150 and aging a pant size per week. Cut out all sugar grains flour. All other labs are normal hyponatremia under control.
533212 tn?1245849211 I just went for test yesterday as my doctor wants to repeat tests monthly for three months. My question is what are the results of this recent test mean in terms of health and treatment. I look forward to your feedback.
Avatar n tn Anxiety is a side effect of Cytomel. Why are you on Cytomel alone and not combined with a T4 med? You should not be as anxious as you are. Do you know hat your free T3, free T4 and TSH were prior to starting Cytomel? Do you take your Cytomel in one dose or split it?
