Cytomel rash

Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel rash

cytomel

Avatar n tn This morning I had few red spots on my chest. It could be nothing but has anyone had a skin rash with cytomel before? The insert says it is RARE but how rare? When should I worry? It's hardly anything.
1484208 tn?1288454979 I have had my total thyroidectomy 3 weeks agofor multifocal and node extension cancer and am on the cytomel for 2 weeks now. My scalp appears to have a rash on it and is very dry and I am having hair loss. Is this related to the medication or the change in my hormones? I am getting very self conscious. What can I do? Has anyone else had these symptoms?
Avatar f tn Did you take your Cytomel before the lab. Cytomel is short lived - fast acting. If you took the meds prior to labs you are false -positive.
Avatar f tn been on cytomel 1month. tsh gone down to .27, t3 2.9, t4 1.23, reverse t3 13.5. should i go down to 75 mcg synthroid or stay at 88. i feel good!
Avatar f tn After being on a higher dose of Cytomel and a lower dose of generic T4 for the last 6 weeks, I was feeling that the Cytomel was too high and the labs confirm it. No palpitations or anything like that, no big rush after taking my dose in the morning.....but I wasn't getting enough sleep and my skin became hideously dry.
Avatar f tn I have had for the last year on an off an acne like skin rash on my neck both sides and on the jaw line. It comes and goes can be itchy and red and makes my skin feel rough even when its not visible. Does anyone else have these experiences and are there any cures or creams or is that the way it is now as I can not stop taking the thyroide medication and when I stop selenium and iodine I get very tired and my hair goes very thin and brittle. Any ideas anyone?
Avatar f tn The biggest problem I see is that you're very hypo and you need more, not less medication... As you can see, your Free T4 is below range, indicating that you need more T4 medication. In addition, your Free T3 could stand to be higher, not lower. This makes me think your doctor might not be a good thyroid doctor... Most of us feel best with Free T4 at about the mid-range point; you, obviously, have a long way to go to get there.
548780 tn?1233769602 I break out into a rash on my scalp and my face whenever my threes are too high. I don't know why. It happened whenever my nodules would make me hyper. Then again when the doc added Cytomel.
Avatar n tn If not, why are you on T3-only med (Cytomel)? What were your labs a week ago before going on the Cytomel, and were you on any other meds then?
1070570 tn?1283436213 I was up to 125 mcg synthroid, then dropped back to 75 synthroid, then switched to 75 generic levo and added 10 mcg cytomel. That was too much cytomel, so dropped back to 5 mcg cytomel and switched to generic; then up to 88 mcg levo, staying with 5 mcg generic cytomel. Am currently on 100 mcg Tirosint and 5 mcg generic cytomel. I take the Tirosint first thing in the morning, per instructions (my day starts 3:30 am). I take my T3 med about 7-7:30 am.
Avatar f tn She told me she was 20 lbs over weights due to being hypo and was only be able to loose few lbs even with teaching many aerobic classes and eating healthy until she heard of Cytomel. She started taking 25mcg of Cytomel 4 yrs ago and noticed the fat melted quickly. She is now at her ideal weight and very fit.
Avatar f tn s fairly rare for somone to be on Cytomel only. Usually a small dose of Cytomel is added to the Synthroid, which may have to be reduced to accomodate the Cytomel. Cytomel (T3) is very fast-acting, so it has to be taken several times throughout the day if taken by itself. This leads to intra-day ups and downs in hormone levels. Do you have the results of your latest lab tests (FT3, FT4 and TSH) and their reference ranges?
Avatar n tn After starting treatment with Cytomel 5 mcg x2/day (regardless of my normal labs) within 3 weeks I had tremendous relief from my symptoms, my hair stopped falling out.( Diffused pattern, especially on top and sides of my head) I had also low Ferritin levels and took some Iron.I was fine for 3 yers and just recently started loosing hair again. My ferritin is at 30(little low) so I started taking Iron again and it seamed the hair loss slowed down a little since.
765572 tn?1234697366 Can you take just Cytomel? I am on levothyroxine and feeling awful. I heard that this generic of Synthroid is actually not the same as Synthroid and that it is not as good. I heard some people have fabulous results on Armour and Cytomel. Why are Dr's so reluctant to prescribe these other meds? I heard Cytomel really helps with fatigue. All I want to do is sleep, it's awful.
Avatar f tn I thought that the generic cytomel was exactly as the brand cytomel. no difference what so ever. I thought I read this somewhere in these forums???? i am on the generic for 3 weeks now and I really feel no different. the doc gave me 25 mg of cytomel to add to my 75mcg of synthroid. advice from you guys, so I cut my synthroid in half and taking only 6 mcg of cytomel. but I have been taking 1/2 of cytomel in the morning and breaking the other half in two. so yeah that is 25 mg.
1956603 tn?1325036186 My doctor added the Cytomel around Dec 28th, I believe. I took the Tirosint first thing in the am with one 5mcg Cytomel and then took the other 5mcg Cytomel between 1-3 pm. I had been on Tirosint 150 mcg for several months prior to the Cytomel. I'm not sure what the change was between the past two results, but I am glad it happened. This is the best I have felt in years! My doctor would like to lower the Tirosint to 137 mcg but keep the Cytomel the same.
407745 tn?1230850087 I am taking Synthroid 100 MCG & Cytomel 5MCG what happens when you have too much T3 ? i have been looking for a new endrcrinologis, the dr.
Avatar f tn Turns out that WPThyroid is covered under my insurance and the doctor is willing to prescribe it. My current doses of thyroid meds are 88 mcg Tirosint and 35 mcg Cytomel. How would I convert that to the dessicated thyroid. Obviously I would still have to take extra T3.
Avatar n tn d have to reduce the amount of levo and replace with an equivalent amount of Cytomel (1/4 the Cytomel for the reduction in levo, e.g. drop the levo to 100 mcg and add 12.5 mcg Cytomel).
Avatar f tn I had the TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 plus Anti Thyroglobulin level and Anti Thyroid Peroixidase tests done - my T3 is low and hope to introduce Cytomel soon but since I now live in Asia am trying to get hold of Cytomel T3. I also do Qigong and jumping exercises early in the morning that has helped to lesson the swelling as it is a way to activate the lymphatic system. I also drink 6 glasses of water per day - when I have more my legs swell and when I have less the same happens.
