cytomel

Avatar n tn 75 Tirosint from Synthroid due to possible allergy. I was also on 15mcg Cytomel a day. TSH.61 (.4-4.5) T4Free3.1 (1.4-3.8) T3Free3.2 (2.3-4.2). The dr. wanted me off Cytomel due to my age (46). 1/13/14 labs on only .75 Tirosint TSH1.04 (.4-4.5) T4Free 2.4 (1.4-3.8) T3Free 2.2 (2.3-4.2). By 4/16/14, while still on .75 Tirosint, my TSH jumped to 3.59 (.4-4.5), T4Free2.8 (1.4-3.8) T3Free2.7 (2.3-4.2). My doctor increased my Tirosint to .88 as my TSH was increasing.
Avatar f tn It sounds like your synthroid dosage is inadequate. Is your doctor willing to add a T3 medication such as cytomel, to your synthroid? This is often an option, as well. Please post your current thyroid hormone levels, along with reference ranges, which vary from lab to lab and have to come from your own report. That will give us a better idea of your exact status.

Avatar f tn Cytomel is T3 and quickly goes through liver and into blood stream in 3 or 4 hours. If you don't have all the right minerals and "stuff" like tyrosine, selenium, iodine, molybdenum etc, the liver has problems converting T4 to T3, but T3 will get into the bloodstream, FREE T3 in a few hours. If you have low or hypothyroid, I can imagine how you manage to move or think clearly without at least 50 mcg. Your thyroid is activating your whole metabolism.
Avatar f tn I have been reading up on cytomel as it has T3 - is it possible I need some of that as well to balance out my weight issues. Please advise asap. Thank you for listening.
1518372 tn?1291011648 I don't have a thyroid anymore.. my synthyroid script cost me about $220 a month w/o insurance.. y can't my Dr just prescribe me cytomel.. right after my surgery I was on 25mcg cytomel twice a day and have never felt so normal in my life with the clearity in my head, the energy I had, the motivation I had to do things, the ability to listen to my Bio rhythm and go to sleep at a decent hr and wake up at a decent hr but ever scence then I have never felt that and yearn for it..
Avatar f tn t have a prescription. The price doesnt really concern me much as long as I am getting real t3.
Avatar n tn Wondering if any of you might know of any herbs we shouldnt take when on meds like xanax, wellbutrin sr,synthyroid, cytomel and hormones////drs dont seem to know nor do the pharmisists..so its so confusing to me..im looking for some natural herbs to take for energy and weight loss!
798555 tn?1292787551 2016 price increases, this stuff used to be cheap. Thought I'd share my price shopping. My ins doesn't cover natural thyroid. Cash prices: NP thyroid by acella (90 days) doubled for me from 33 to 68 US$ from walgreens. Walmart is $35. Local regional grocery store is $90. Target is $125. Walgreen's has a discount club for $20 /yr, which knocks my price to $24 - thats the way to go.
Avatar f tn I'm really grateful for a response. Ok, for years I've been on 88 levo, 10 cytomel. In March I switched to brand Synthroid and cytomel, both, from generic. Because of price I bumped up to 12.5 cytomel (splitting a 25mcg pill) from 2 generic 5's per day. I did notice an improvement in energy and zest in just the switch from generic to brand. So I pressed further in my decision to try NDT wondering, 'Wow, maybe I can feel even better.
645390 tn?1338555377 Do you think that maybe she misunderstood you? I'm on Copaxone and it cost about the same price. My copay is $15.00/month, my insurance covers the rest. I would call your insurance company and ask them how much it will be. If your insurance doesn't deal with shared solutions try calling Pression RX.
168348 tn?1379357075 24 when I was at a 0.24. BUT, this was the switch from Armour to Synthroid with Cytomel. So....I am now bumped up to 100mcg synthroid and 10 mcg cytomel. We are hoping that my conversion will get better after this gallbladder is removed maybe. :) I have 3 days to increase my levels. I definately think this has added to my labored breathing. The frees are just way too low. Thanks C!!
Avatar n tn If not, why are you on T3-only med (Cytomel)? What were your labs a week ago before going on the Cytomel, and were you on any other meds then?
1070570 tn?1283436213 I was up to 125 mcg synthroid, then dropped back to 75 synthroid, then switched to 75 generic levo and added 10 mcg cytomel. That was too much cytomel, so dropped back to 5 mcg cytomel and switched to generic; then up to 88 mcg levo, staying with 5 mcg generic cytomel. Am currently on 100 mcg Tirosint and 5 mcg generic cytomel. I take the Tirosint first thing in the morning, per instructions (my day starts 3:30 am). I take my T3 med about 7-7:30 am.
Avatar f tn She told me she was 20 lbs over weights due to being hypo and was only be able to loose few lbs even with teaching many aerobic classes and eating healthy until she heard of Cytomel. She started taking 25mcg of Cytomel 4 yrs ago and noticed the fat melted quickly. She is now at her ideal weight and very fit.
Avatar f tn s fairly rare for somone to be on Cytomel only. Usually a small dose of Cytomel is added to the Synthroid, which may have to be reduced to accomodate the Cytomel. Cytomel (T3) is very fast-acting, so it has to be taken several times throughout the day if taken by itself. This leads to intra-day ups and downs in hormone levels. Do you have the results of your latest lab tests (FT3, FT4 and TSH) and their reference ranges?
Avatar f tn I have been on the latest doses for 6 weeks, and I am particularly reactive to lowering the Cytomel. There was NO release from symptoms until I added it to T4. TSH consistently below .04 since medicated. Have multi-nodular thyroid, which shrank with medication. No antibodies according to both types of testing, although my sister has Hashimoto's. I take BHRT. All labs from Quest. May 23, 2011 100 mcg T4 25 mcg Cytomel Free T4 Direct 1.1 ( .8 - 2.7 ) Free T3 3.
428837 tn?1250007204 I was astounded to find out that the retail price difference between real Cytomel and the generic is only about $8 a month. My insurance company has totally cheaped-out on me. Well, I guess that's not a big surprise, is it? {eye roll} Laters, kids!
765572 tn?1234697366 Can you take just Cytomel? I am on levothyroxine and feeling awful. I heard that this generic of Synthroid is actually not the same as Synthroid and that it is not as good. I heard some people have fabulous results on Armour and Cytomel. Why are Dr's so reluctant to prescribe these other meds? I heard Cytomel really helps with fatigue. All I want to do is sleep, it's awful.
Avatar f tn I thought that the generic cytomel was exactly as the brand cytomel. no difference what so ever. I thought I read this somewhere in these forums???? i am on the generic for 3 weeks now and I really feel no different. the doc gave me 25 mg of cytomel to add to my 75mcg of synthroid. advice from you guys, so I cut my synthroid in half and taking only 6 mcg of cytomel. but I have been taking 1/2 of cytomel in the morning and breaking the other half in two. so yeah that is 25 mg.
1956603 tn?1325036186 My doctor added the Cytomel around Dec 28th, I believe. I took the Tirosint first thing in the am with one 5mcg Cytomel and then took the other 5mcg Cytomel between 1-3 pm. I had been on Tirosint 150 mcg for several months prior to the Cytomel. I'm not sure what the change was between the past two results, but I am glad it happened. This is the best I have felt in years! My doctor would like to lower the Tirosint to 137 mcg but keep the Cytomel the same.
407745 tn?1230850087 I am taking Synthroid 100 MCG & Cytomel 5MCG what happens when you have too much T3 ? i have been looking for a new endrcrinologis, the dr.
