Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel no prescription needed

cytomel

Avatar m tn received the August one she said that I should stay on the same dose. I was thinking of adding a little more cytomel since my Free T3 is still on the low side. If I do, should I lower my Synthroid again? I would appreciate any advice. August Synthroid 75 Cytomel 5 twice a day. t4,free(direct) 1.08 0.82-1.77 ng/dL tsh 3.010 0.450-4.500 uIU/mL triiodothyronine, free, serum 2.7 2.0-4.4 pg/mL reverse t3, serum 15.0 9.2-24.
Avatar f tn I just had my thyroidectomy a week and a half ago and got my prescription for cytomel. My prescription is for 25 mcg every twelve hours and my doctor said to take it on an empty stomach (4 hours w/o food), no solids for the first hour after taking it, and no calcium or citrus for four hours afterwards. AHHH! How do I do this? I can deal with no milk in my morning coffee, but what about dinner? Any advice or help? I think that this is just until my RAI in a month or so. THANKS!
Avatar f tn I went out of the country with out my prescription for cytomel. As a result, I did not take it for 5 days. I started back on it today, but have had cold chills (alleviated by aspirin) for the last 3 days. I have no other symptoms such as headache, sore throat, nausea. Could the cold chills be a symptom of withdrawal from cytomel?
Avatar m tn In answer to your question regarding T3 meds, while there are sites online that say they sell cytomel without a prescription, I would never buy from them, because I have no idea what they are really selling... There are also some glandular products that are sold over the counter, but they are supposed to have the actual hormone content removed and are simply ground up tissue. In short, T3 products sold in the U.S require a prescription.
Avatar f tn In fact, last Tuesday (3/4) I did another no-no and took 2 5mcg, so 10mcg of cytomel in the morning all at once. Have been doing this for 3 days now and still feel nothing. No change. No afternoon crash, as I feel the same before as I did after. I have an appt with endo #3. Hopefully, this one will test and treat me properly, but I think it's odd how I don't feel any different with or without cytomel.
Avatar n tn t think I am tolerating Armour that well, I asked my doctor for an alternative. He wrote me a prescription for 50 mcg levothyroxine per day plus 20 mg of Cytomel. It seems too off-balance to me, when my T4 and T3 are both low normal. I haven't taken it yet because I am scared to. I just keep on with the Armour? What do you think of this?
Avatar f tn About two weeks ago, someone in another community on another website was sure that there are OTC supplements containing actual thyroid hormones (pig, cow thryoid hormones). I am very sure that it's illegal to have any of these hormones without a prescription. I remember reading months ago that thyroid hormones are regulated by the FDC and that any OTC supplement claiming to support the thyroid must have the actual hormones extracted.
Avatar f tn After 1 month I felt fine so I went ahead and refilled the prescription for 240mg. It was less expensive to get 3 months (insurance did not cover compound prescription) and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get the armour for refills. No pharmacy in my area has it in stock. Everyone seems to be hoarding in case they can no longer find it. I wish my physician would have given me 60 mg to leave room for adjustment.
793305 tn?1493925518 Considering how potent Cytomel is compared to Synthroid (4X), your endo is really adjusting your dose in wild swings. 25 mcg of Cytomel is roughly equivalent to 100 mcg of Synthroid. So, she's putting you on 1.5 times the amount of thyroid meds for 10 days, then taking you off. And that's supposed to ease drug transitions? That's the first time I've ever heard that rationale...makes absolutely no sense to me...sounds like a prescription for misery.
Avatar f tn Just about every time I went in she would talk about not understanding the cytomel prescription. I just went for another tsh test and she decided not to prescribe the cytomel and only the synthroid. I spoke with the nurse and asked if the test included a t3 test and were my levels off. The test did not include a t3 and they said that the tsh was enough and if it was normal they had no reason to do a t3 test.
798555 tn?1292787551 For two weeks I just tried a combo of 112 levothyroxin (t4) with cytomel 5 (t3) in two haves (morning with levothyroxin) and afternoon cytomel only. My muscle pain seemed to lessen and my brain fog went away, I no longer got sleep attacks while driving. The bad part - a weird lingering headache that would not stop and sleep problems - like a wiered meth addict!
Avatar m tn i recently developed bad anxiety, my hair loss is still persistent (it never stopped), i have trouble sleeping and im depressed all the time with constant headaches. has anyone who taken cytomel gotten any relief? i read somewhere people said that they took it and they felt great. ii never going back to synthroid becuase all it did was make me underweight and angry. im always tired and i cant move around much even tho im thin like a twig.
Avatar f tn I just picked up a 25mcg prescription of Cytomel. I already take 100mcg Synthroid in the morning. What's the best time of day to take the Cytomel? My dr. said in the evening, but I heard it causes insomnia if taken that late. Also, should I take the whole dose at once or split it in half?
Avatar f tn These labs were after taking Synthroid 150mcg daily for 3 weeks after being on Naturethroid 1 1/2 gr. I do have a prescription for Cytomel. I did not take my synthroid yesterday. I took 1/2 tablet of synthroid this morning. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn To my knowledge there is no legitimate source for obtaining T3 in the US without a prescription. If I may ask, why are you interested in T3 only. Also, are you not able to get a script from your doctor?
Avatar n tn When it clears, you may have hyper symptoms, but you just decrease your dosage. Those who are trying Cytomel, or a low dose of Cytomel and have RT3 issues may not be giving it long enough. Three months feels like eternity when you are short of breath, but it may not take that long to start feeling better. In my case, my ND/MD took me OFF of the thyroid meds I was on, but she hasn't put me back on anything yet.
Avatar n tn On what basis did you think you needed cytomel? What are your latest lab results for TSH, FT3 and FT4? If you have the lab report, please post the results, along with their ranges. Do you have Hashimoto's? I agree that 25 mcg cytomel is a pretty hefty dose to add to 100 mcg synthroid. I *do* take cytomel and when I first started it I had been on 100 mcg synthroid; my endo lowered me to 50 mcg levo, and added 10 mcg cytomel.
Avatar f tn hi. i'm no longer living in the STates so i don't have a US doctor to prescribe me Cytomel. i'm scared of ordering from sites that don't ask for a prescription because i don't want to get junk. Can anyone recommend an online site that i'll know i'm getting a brand name fda approved drug? thanks!
Avatar m tn In the USA at least, all hormones including thyroid hormone(s) T4 (Synthroid) and T3 (Cytomel) and Any natural desiccated thyroid med like Armour require doctor Prescription. To dose thyroid you absolutely need to be tested for at a minimum Free T4 and Free T3 tests. Typically people need to be at least in the middle of the reference range for BOTH thyroid hormones if not a bit higher int he range.
Avatar f tn This question I posted about the use of Cytomel breaking off my hair was for Hypothyroid not hyperthyroid. I had no symptoms of Hypo but was told I needed medication.
