Avatar f tn The hairloss increased as well. Dropped back and added cytomel a week later. Developed muscle weakness, irritability, red flushing of the face, muscle tightness and burning sensation. My t3 and Ft3 has always ran low, but have yet to tolerate a t3 med.
Avatar n tn I do have an of season though where my eeight is supposed to go up and i am supposed to put on muscle, but mine skyrockets. I was wondering if anyone out there has ever tried adding in 25 mg of cytomel to level things out. I just received some and was going to add it in but i didn't want to screw things up more than they already are. If anyone has any answers or opinions let me know.
Avatar f tn 2) with these results I had severe heart palps and muscle pain, along with hair loss. Going off the cytomel slowed the heart palps and hair loss no longer a problem. Brain fog lifted after switching to tirosint. Just dealing with heart palps that start at around 3pm every day. Last night was a rough night with them. I'm only into the 2nd week of new med. I didn't take med today and feeling less "wired". Maybe I need less of a dose of tirosint?
Avatar f tn Hi, I am wondering what everyone's experience is with Cytomel in regards to weight loss and how long it took to have a measurable loss. Thank you!
Avatar n tn feel awful after a complete thyroidectomy 1 1/2 years ago, weight gain, depression, soft peely nails, weird new allergies, poor concentration and memory, hair loss, muscle loss and muscle cramps and on and on. My most recent blood test shows T3 Free in range at 3.2, TSH low .14 and T4 Free in range at 1.6 so what could possibly be wrong?!! My endocrinologist suggested counseling!
Avatar f tn My Cytomel was slowly increased over time to 5 mcg per day. I take 1/2 pill in the morning and 1/2 at 3pm. I've been on the whole 5 mcg now for several weeks and I feel great but I'm sweating ALL THE TIME. Night sweats like crazy. I know I"m 43 but is this a side effect of too much? Everything is else great. Feel great. No more hair loss. No more muscle aches. I'm living in a perfect post TT world here and now my life is one continuous hot flash!
Avatar n tn no i dont have any of those symptoms just so tired, and before i i have all the hypothyroid symptoms cold all the time tired weight gain hair loss muscle pains joint pain you name it i have it and this isnt helping. not sure why she put me on high dosage. and she didnt tell me when to take or anything she just gave it to me and lowered my sythroid.
Avatar f tn What all does this mean? I have symptoms of hypothyroidism (hair loss, fatigue, weight gain, muscle aches, etc). Everything that i read is very confusing. I'm going in to see my doctor on Thursday, but would rather have a heads up on what to ask for first.
Avatar m tn 5 I am on 50mcg of Synthroid and 5mcgs of Cytomel T4. I am at a loss as I am doing everyting in my power to help stop this hair loss. I take a very good brand of whole food vitamins, B12, 4000mcg Biotin, B complex, Hair Skin & Nail vitamins, Vit D...I pop pills all day long. I sleep 7.5 hrs a night. I've practially eliminated gluten from my diet. I eat salmon and lean meats. No soda, coffee, tea. I drink a 1/2 gallon of water each day. I use top salon shampoos.
Avatar f tn Will adding cytomel to your levoxyl help with hair loss? This discussion is related to Cytomel in addition to Synthroid.
Avatar f tn Just so worried hair is going to continue to fall out. Not sure if hair loss is worse due to addition of cytomel. Would it help to increase both? Feel great with the addition of cytomel but it has seemed to accelerate hair loss a bit. It is to the point scalp is showing and bald spots are occuring. Wide part. Thin all over and very dry and brittle. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn That was a pretty drastic change in Cytomel. You only lost 10 lbs, and he cut your Cytomel in half. Hair loss is often the last symptom to go away. The body heals the more crucial systems first. Hair loss is reactive and often has more to do with what was going on a month or six weeks ago than what is happening today. Is your doctor testing FREE T3 and FREE T4? Please post labs and reference ranges from before he reduced your meds if you have them.
1102845 tn?1285493058 The only thyroid option is to consider combined T4 (synthroid) and T3 (cytomel) - in this case reducing synthroid to 75 and adding 5mcg of cytomel in the am along w/ the synthroid.
Avatar f tn I would like to know if changing from half of .25 synthroid to .5 of cytomel causes my hair to become britol and break off? I was on half of the synthroid I mentioned, and my level was at a 4. The Dr. thought it should go lower so she put me on .5 of Cytomel. I noticed the weight around my middle seemed to have trimmed down some. I teach aerobics and really didn't have any of side effects except did get tired if I did too much.
Avatar n tn What will it take to lose weight while having hypothyroidism and being on cytomel? I know the side effects of cytomel includes weight loss......but how much time do you have to be on cytomel for to start seeing those side effects? I can use any help on this. Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn So what do I do now? Take Cytomel? Many doctors refuse to give you Cytomel. I did call the makers of Cytomel to ask about the short life 8 hours. They said even though it has a short life, the metabolical effects of the drug will last all day if it is taken on a daily basis. Has anyone else experienced muscle pain or weakness on Synthroid?
Avatar n tn I still feel very tired all the time, have hair loss, muscle weakness, headaches, and also found out my iron serum is high. Does any of this relate? I am a 30 year old female. Appreciate any feedback!!!
Avatar f tn What is food and supplements are safe to consume with Cytomel. I am actively trying to lose weight through diet and exercise and feel like I am fighting with a brick wall. Very defeating! I eat certain things or take different supplements, I get extreme reactions. Please advise. . .
Avatar f tn I've been on cytomel for about 8 years but changed drs about two years ago. She continued to prescribe my cytomel and synthroid doing tsh checks every six months. Just about every time I went in she would talk about not understanding the cytomel prescription. I just went for another tsh test and she decided not to prescribe the cytomel and only the synthroid. I spoke with the nurse and asked if the test included a t3 test and were my levels off.
Avatar n tn but kind of sluggish and I get muscle pain and some constipation. When I increased to 137.5 mcg Synthroid, 12.5 Cytomel, I feel much better,no muscle pain. Is that too much medication? My endocrinologist is surprised I feel different with such a small change. Says it's O.K. but we have to monitor because of heart risks. Am I taking chances? Please explain.
Avatar f tn My doctor initially had me on cytomel after the surgery but after my follow up and a clear biopsy (most of my relatives have had cancerous thyroids) I was switched to levothyroxine. Now I am experiencing hair loss, severe muscle spasms in my left hand and I can fall asleep anywhere -anytime! I just received my latest TSH result which is 29. My doctor is uping my hormone and adding back in a low dose of cytomel also .... are these symtoms typical of a high TSH?
640719 tn?1277140030 I read a article one in particular from the New England Journal of Medicine that stated that many patients do benefit especially those who have muscle/joint pains by adding just a small amount of a TF3 drug in combination with their synthetic thyroid medication. I'm still having lingering pains and so I'm wondering what harm can it do to give the TF3 med a try?? I can't help wonder why would my Doctor's office be so against prescribing me this drug?
Avatar f tn My ENT prescribed Cytomel for me to take from now until my RAI treatment (I just had total thyroidectomy 10 days ago and have a small papilliary cancer w/ follicular variant). Anyway, I'm not having any symptoms, except hair loss, since my surgery and I'm wondering if I should go ahead and start taking the Cytomel now or should I wait until I actually feel bad and need it? What is everyone's experience with Cytomel?
Avatar n tn If you are on a synthetic T4 drug like Synthroid and you are not taking a T3 drug like Cytomel, then you may need to find an endo who will test and treat the FT3 levels, so that you can lose the weight.
