cytomel

Avatar n tn I just started on synthroid, is it common to have an unusal increase in joint pain and other symptons?
405406 tn?1247428742 My bac, side, arm nec mucsles can all ache at once or at different times. No real Joint pain. Just some weakness to hands at times and Rt. wrist. Could this be from the Graves???
Avatar f tn All that said - hypothyroidism CAN cause joint/muscle aches/pain. I have quite a bit of pain, mostly in my knees and sometimes hips. I also go through periods where my entire body hurts - including my hair......... I also have a lot of muscle cramping, especially in my feet and legs and sometimes in my fingers and neck/jaw area, but I'm not sure if that is thyroid related or not.
Avatar f tn I started Synthoid only after being on Levothyroxine and Cytomel post TT. I started with the most horrendious hip joint pain as well as the worsening of few other pre-existing joint and arthritis issues. I switched to Levoxyl and I have gotten a bit better. I have since gotten back onto some T3 (Cytomel) in addition to the Levoxyl, hoping that all the joint (or most) will go away. Do post your test scores and people will be better able to help you. I wish you luck.
Avatar m tn Had a TT on 7/21 and the week following the surgery I was on Cytomel (incase I needed RI). I had no joint pain in my hips that whole week. I started back on synthroid and am noticing it. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this. Also, for those who have tried or know of both...what is the difference? Which do you prefer? Lastly. could the hip joint pain be from an incorrect dosage?
556500 tn?1222338630 when i started the cytomel it seem to help immediately in the beginning. this pasr week i have fatigue cold intolerance and joint and back pain and also fluttering heart once in a while (not palpitations last 20 secs or so) is it the meds? or how long will this fatigue last? i am so dragged out tired lately i cant do much. will the cytomel kick in? previous post with lab results http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Thyroid-Disorders/new-to-cytomel-palpitations/show/1226437?
Avatar f tn I have had hypothyroid for 15 yrs now and never had a joint or muscle pain one until about 3 months ago I had an overnite change in my joints and muscles.....back legs neck arms...I couldn't even brush my teeth without having to switch arms back and forth they ached so bad. I am talking flat out PAIN. The Doctor I am seeing now thinks its Fibromyalgia, but I am not so sure. Been doing some research and something that I overlooked was Thrush in my mouth.
280485 tn?1249013844 I seem to trade bloating and joint/muscle pain issues for sleeping issues when I go on combo replacement... If I had to pick, I'd take the sleeping issues I have on the combo. I've have heard that Armour (pig gland) has more T3 than humans actually need. So I'm affraid to try that if I'm having problems sleeping on a reduced amount of Cytomel now. But I'd like to be like Snow White and find the bed (or porridge?...or whatever that nusery rhyme is...
Avatar f tn Started on 150 and reduced to 137, not due to have more labs til mid March and for the last few days have severe muscle aches and joint pain with upper back pain. I have fibromyalgia but this is way different. Feels like 3 cases of the flu. Has anyone had similar symptoms?
491352 tn?1258807095 I had a terrible time with Synthroid. I switched post TT, after about 3 months on Levothyroxine and Cytomel combo. I almost immediately puffed up like a marshmellow and had severe joint/arthritis pain. I dubbed myself "Princess Bloat-a-lot"... I've since switched to Levoxyl and added the Cytomel back in, and the issues seem to be dissipating. I also have calcium, vit D issues. I'm working on that as well with 50,000 IU's per week.
Avatar n tn But it was the arthritis/joint pain that made me switch immediately. I tried Levoxyl and it got a little better, but I just added back in the Cytomel and changed back to Levothyroxine, and I'm feeling SO much better! My theory is that with no thyroid, you need some sort of combo, whether Armour (natural) or a synthetic combo.
640719 tn?1277140030 Since adding my 5 mcg of my T3 drug, Cytomel to my Synthroid, NO more constipation, leg and foot pain and the joint pain has gone down considerably. In fact, it was gone until recently, so next visit I'm asking for more Cytomel.
586140 tn?1219078962 I was just wondering, I have been on synthroid for 3 1/2 weeks and I am still having joint pain to the point that I can't lift my arms. I am just new to this and was hoping someone could let me know if and when they find the right dosage of the synthroid, will the joint pain go away? I was also wondering if anyone knows what is best to do for the pain as I have a 1 1/2 year old that doesn't understand why I can't pick him up all of the time.
Avatar f tn My pharmacist recommended Synthroid with Cytomel. I had been taking Thyrolar 3 for many years and was in the last year changed to Thyrolar 2. I am 60 years old, 5'1" and weigh 135.
Avatar f tn I think your levels were probably starting to level out for you on the Cytomel with your Free T3 - If you were relieved of the symptoms while on Cytomel of joint pain and the other things that were bothering you that your thyroid was causing, the Cytomel was doing what it should do. The only thing was you probably had to much Free T3 going through at once not necessarily from Cytomel - but the over conversion of T4 into T3 with the Levo - adding the Cytomel.
Avatar n tn My TSH lab was done six weeks ago and it was 5.8, I was on 112 mcg of synthroid. I was experiencing joint pain, substantial hair loss, sensitive to cold and have not been able to loose much weight. I joined weight watchers over nine months ago and my coach told me something was not right. This week I was able to see a endocrinologist and he repeated my labs. Now my TSH is 1.9, he decided to change my synthroid to 100 much and added Cytomel 5mcg twice a day.
Avatar n tn no focus....confusion, intense muscle cramps, joint pain, carpel tunnel, stopped exercising, lowered synthroid to 137 mcg, added cytomel 5 mcg 1x a day, then cytomel 2x a day, TSH goes to .07. I lowered on my own 137 mcg synthroid 3x a week cutting 1/2 4 days a week...skip one dose a week for 4 weeks, TSH goes to .20...still feeling terrible. After cutting up synthroid, potassium starts to rise, but TSH drives back down to .12 and T4's go from 1.7 to .7.
Avatar n tn no i dont have any of those symptoms just so tired, and before i i have all the hypothyroid symptoms cold all the time tired weight gain hair loss muscle pains joint pain you name it i have it and this isnt helping. not sure why she put me on high dosage. and she didnt tell me when to take or anything she just gave it to me and lowered my sythroid.
Avatar m tn Some people do great on Synthroid. I am one who did not. I have been on Levothyroxine (and am now currently), went to Synthroid then Levoxyl then back to Levothyroxine. Mine is kind of a convoluted story as I'd never been on meds prior to my TT last year. My doc started me on a combo of Levo and Cytomel post TT. I was a little jittery on the combo, so I went to Synthroid only to try and convert my own T3... I absolutely hated it.
Avatar m tn So what do I do now? Take Cytomel? Many doctors refuse to give you Cytomel. I did call the makers of Cytomel to ask about the short life 8 hours. They said even though it has a short life, the metabolical effects of the drug will last all day if it is taken on a daily basis. Has anyone else experienced muscle pain or weakness on Synthroid?
Avatar f tn I had a long history of aches and joint pain but found out last year I had Hep C. I was told my joint pain could have been from that. In January I was treated for the Hep C with excellent results but am still suffering from major aches and joint pains. I used to be extremely physically active before but this past 2 yrs has brought me down with the hep c and now my thyroid issues. on 8/21 the TSH reflex to free T4 was 53.1, free T4 .90 and thyroid peroxidase AB 64.
715375 tn?1229790843 I realize now that you need to keep a close check on the thyroid, it can change frequently and my dr insist on test every 3 mths and she has it too and said it can change and so your medicine needs to too to keep you optimum BUT TO MAKE SURE you tell your dr of any problems like joint pain etc which means..your dosage needs to be tweeked...otherwise test can look normal when you need a boost hence there is a wide range of what is considered NORMAL ON THE BLOOD TEST....
1001981 tn?1293978481 Any raise in T3 meds whether taking a desiccated med or T3 Cytomel will have a side effect of a mild achey headache. These can last up to 2 weeks. Sometimes increases of the T3 medication or the combo will come right around the same time the increase is needed - so the headache could linger on until you reach optimal dosages. Splitting anything with a T3 is good. Much better to distribute in small portions twice a day - then throwing your body into a "high" then crash.
252327 tn?1250183976 Before cytomel I was tired , brain fog, joint pain. Cytomel gave me no palputaions..nothing..
