cytomel

327369 tn?1326119908 Just for info, I noticed something in the medical info that came with the Cytomel. It stated that Cytomel has no known side effects. How many meds do you know that can say that?
Avatar f tn There seems to be some difficulty testing Free T3 on cytomel also at certain ranges Can someone comment on/point to info on that too?. How have people done on Naturethroid/transitioning to Naturethroid. Any/all info most appreciated.
Avatar n tn 5 cytomel. I never felt better in my life! I was on 125 levothyroxine and 12.5 cytomel to clarify. My doctor said I would not lose weight due to the cytomel. I don't know if it was the cyt or just me feeling better with no more fatigue that made me lose weight. I dropped 25lbs. Two months ago found out I was pregnant and was taken off the cytomel and my levothyroxine was raised to 150. I miscarried a week later. My thyroid levels got so messed up because of the all the hormonal changes.
Avatar f tn I take 30mg Armour and 5 mcg Cytomel in the morning at 6:30am  and 30mg Armour and 5 McG Cytomel again at 3pm. I feel great, much better than when they had me on just 30mg Armour once a day.
Avatar n tn When TSH is too high Cytomel dose might be too low. If TSH was optimal F/T-3 would be high and F/T-4 low. Cytomel may decrease T4. I don't think your Cytomel/Synthroid ratio is correct. Unless other things are going on; you didn't care to share your levels.(?) T3 dose should be split and taken every 6 to 8 hour interval, if not time released. For instance, if the dose is 25 mcg, then take 5 mcg. pills, four times a day or every 6 hours.
Avatar n tn hi Thanks for your info, my doctor does not know alot about this , he is a GP ,and he didn't even know about cytomel, he does not think it can go together, I am wondering about armour throid ? What do you know about it , and what else should I ask my doc?
Avatar f tn It is likely the Cytomel that is causing low T4.
Avatar f tn 2 mg levothroxine but recently my doc. added 25 mcg of cytomel. My T3 levels went extremely high and TSH less then 0.5. I have been extemely ill - headaches, chills, sweats, light head, dizzy, naseau, anxiety. My doc has stopped the cytomel. My questions are: 1. How long does it take for the thryoid levels to return back to where they were. And how long do these symptoms last. 2. Was 25 mcg of cytomel a normal amount to add to 0.2 mg of levothroxine..
Avatar f tn HI I was taking 120 mg of Armour and have recently been switched to 175 Synthroid and 10 Cytomel. Does this seem similar. I have heard some conflicting info. My Free T3 is low and my md prefered to be able to increase just that through cytomel.
Avatar f tn How long should I wait before starting cytomel. Backing down from 112mg tirosint to 100mg. Was previously on 100, but t4 levels were below midrange and t3 below. T4 levels now above midrange and t3 levels below. I tried starting 5mcg cytomel after 1 week but having issues tolerating it. I'm having horrible issues with hairloss too. My hair volume has decreased in half. Is that from the chronically low t3?? I have a history of not doing well with t3 meds.
Avatar n tn 500 no free t3 was done then and tese were befor going on synthroid in april..dr added cytomel 1/2 of a 5mcg pill dailey yesterday.
Avatar f tn Yes, I did wait until after my labs to take my Cytomel and Synthroid. A month ago I started out on 25mcg of cytomel, which I found out was too much, so I went to 12.5, then 6.25. So I've been taking it for a while now and the acid reflux has gone on for over a week. I didn't have this problem before I started taking cytomel. I do think I'm still slightly hypo because of all the inflammation and fatigue.
Avatar n tn 9, he decided to change my synthroid to 100 much and added Cytomel 5mcg twice a day. I’m not familiar with Cytomel, will the addition of this medicine compensate reducing my synthroid? Will it help with my Simptoms? Thank you!
Avatar f tn I haven't felt this good in years and really don't want to go off of the Cytomel. The iodine alone didn't seem to do it for me, but I do like the Cytomel and 'find' myself doing stuff, instead of trying to figure out how I'm going to get another nap.
Avatar f tn m on cytomel also - 5 mcg. normally, cytomel is split into 2-3 doses, however, with only 5 mcg, splitting it would only give you 2.5 mcg/dose and I'm not sure that would do much good for you.
Avatar m tn however, in your case it seems it would be easier to adjust FT3 and FT4 independently by decreasing your T4 and adding some T3 med. What happened when you tried Cytomel? I ask because Cytomel can be truthfully advertised as having no known side effects.
Avatar m tn I have been on synthroid for 4 weeks and cytomel for just under two weeks, but it was after I started seeing the chiropractor that I noticed that for a couple of days I felt great. then I had a somewhat tired day, but not as bad as before. Of course, I am getting farther into treatment obviously. And I do understand that this could take a couple more weeks before I start to feel anything near better.
694885 tn?1232649948 Any generic T4 med is very inexpensive. However, Cytomel, a T3 drug, not so much. The Cytomel, to ease your mind, you will only be taking for a very short time. You take this prior to your surgery and pre-RAI only. Because T3's short lived in the body (about 4 hours), they can take you off of any T4 meds early, prior to surgery. Then they don't have to wait and weene you off post surgery and wait for RAI. Because of this, you will be quickly ready for RAI.
Avatar n tn My doc wants to switch me to a time released version of T3 called Nature thyroid. He wants me to start on 1 Gram/day. It may have T4 in it also, I can't seem to get that info. He also gave me some levoxyl to use as well although I do not know the dose now because it is getting filled at the pharmacy. I am on 15 mcg of cytomel only now. I am worried that there is not enough T3 in the new meds and I will crash when I switch and go off cytomel.
317787 tn?1473358451 25 and Synthroid .75. Before I had my blood work, my doctor told me to stop the Cytomel for a day or two as it could mess up the results. I am curious to find out how others are tested. Do you stop your Cytomel? While my TSH looks fine my t3 and t4 seem low to me Thank you, Dee My TSH .511 (.350-5.500) Free T3 2.31 (2.30 - 420 Free T4 .9 (.06 - 1.
Avatar f tn NDT and Cytomel will work for some people. T4 meds work for some people. T4 and Cytomel will work for some. NDT only works for some. The bottom line is that it is not the type of med that matters most. The important thing is getting your biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4 up to a level that relieve symptoms. That can be accomplished with adequate doses of T4 meds, if your body adequately converts T4 to T3.
Avatar f tn Synthetics are Synthroid, Levoxyl, Cytomel. Naturethroid, Armour are both animal derived from porcine (pigs) ......
Avatar n tn Not sure where this post will end up. I recently added Cytomel to my Synthroid. Previously, I was taking Synthroid 112mcg 6 x weekly. Dr. reduced to 88 mcg, 7 x and Cytomel 5 mg 2 x daily. The full 5 mg cause real anxiety and palpatations. I was told I could split the pill (challenging! lol) and so far, I am taking only 2.5 approx, once in the am. Will the anxiety settle down? I am considering taking Xanax to level out, as I am not feeling so great, with the edginess.
Avatar f tn Had cancer, have scanned clean ever since. I take Synthroid 137 mcg and 1/4 of Cytomel. Had labs about 2 months ago (free T3 and free T4 not tested) and my T3 was low. He added Cytomel, a whole one was too much. Tried to take 1/2, still too much. He said take 1/4 for a month and retest. I requested free T3 and free T4 this time. Here are my new labs: I'm not gonna put all the Basic Metabolic Panel stuff since all of that was normal. Calcitriol (1,25 di-OH Vit D) 95.
Avatar n tn I was doing really really well on .137 mcg of synthroid and 50 mcg of cytomel and my dr. took me down to 25mcg on cytomel. So I stopped taking all of the meds about 2 months ago. Will the portion of my thyroid that wasn't removed begin working again? Will I have more weight gain without meds, or will it go to hyperthyroid? Or will I have more weight gain or less on the smaller dosage?
