5727805 tn?1378193052 My sister in law is newly pregnant and not originally from Australia. I am a new zealander so don't know much about Australian birth care. But are midwives used?? Or do you see the doctor? She is An Australian permanent resident. Here in NZ is it simple, you just contact a midwife and go from there. Is it that simple in Australia?
Avatar f tn I know I have potentially thrown the cat in amongst the pigeons but I think it is a valid topic for those in Australia suffering with Lyme Disease.
Avatar f tn Gday is there anyone in Australia on these forums having trouble with tramadol...I am in Queensland..Thanks Anyone can join in any help is great thanks everbody.......
Avatar f tn Hey, Doc~ I'm sure you understand that it isn't just any tick that will produce Lyme disease after having bitten someone. You know that they are deer ticks that have been infected, and hence carry the disease. I'm sorry about the cat. My goodness! But there's no way to tell if the tick that latched onto kitty infected the cat with Lyme or something else. (Not saying it can't have been Lyme!) I found a site that says Lyme was first documented in Australia in 1980.
582777 tn?1298456914 I just wanted to check in, since there are a few other Aussie MS'ers here. We're in Brisbane, 2km from the floodwaters, but our house is on a hill and we will stay high and dry thankfully. Hopefully our other QLD community members are also safe right now.
Avatar f tn Initally - going on a T3 med - Cytomel in addition to the Synthroid - you will feel great - then crash. This applies to natural thyroid combo meds too. T3 hormone is direct - which means your body accepts it immediately. You expressed you felt aweful prior to starting Cytomel - so that says you were hypothyroid and wanted direct T3. Well, you gave the body - what it needed - but it wants more. This is proven on your FT3 lab - the only thing is this is an old lab so one can only assume.
Avatar n tn Synthroid on its own for many thryoid patients is not the answer. I hate to be horrible, but here in Australia we just can't get any T3 supplementation (which is what Cytomel is) without almost going to a Judge and Jury! I would cheerfully live even more frugally than I do now, to get some T3 into my system. I know then I could feel better enough to go to work for the first time in near 20 years!
Avatar f tn So my question to you is can I cut my 75mcg synthroid in half? or just ask my doc for the 50mcg??? he gave me 25mg of cytomel. but I did cut it in half because I was scared to take the full dose. any suggestions from the pros?
499534 tn?1328704178 I had been having very labored breathing all week and on Tues I went to my dr who decided with my thyroid labs to put me back on Synthroid with Cytomel. So I went from 120mgs Armour to 88mcg Synthroid and 5mcg Cytomel in the morning, started new med 2 days ago. Throughout the week my ribs have hurt more and more front and back and I have been coughing and getting more breathless.
Avatar f tn Do you think Australia will eventually use rapid hiv tests to combat the hiv rates in Australia. I know Australia has great resources but read that they have not implemented point of care rapid tests.
Avatar f tn It all changed after my diagnosis. I take my levothyroxine +cytomel at night. If I take it in the morning i feel nervous. At night I don't notice any difference.
168348 tn?1379357075 we have oroxine in australia (and there's another one but sorry i cant remember it). oh yeah oroxine is one of the levothyroxine ones.
Avatar f tn I know you would recommend it. I just felt so awful and depressed yesterday that I remembered I had Cytomel in my drawer. Last year my previous doctor prescribed 75mcg of levothyroxine and 5 mcg of Cytomel. The combination made my palpitations worse so he put me back on 30 mg of Armour saying that was my ideal dose. After this point we moved to CO. I kept both meds since then just in case a new doctor wanted to see any previous meds.
Avatar f tn Just got new script for Synthroid combined with Cytomel and my Endo wants me to take the Synthroid and half the dose of the Cytomel in the morning and the rest of the Cytomel in the evening. My question is if there is anyone who has a similar script, do you take the evening dose before bed or before dinner? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Has anyone been put on Cytomel while they were off Synthroid in preparation for their RAI. I am supposed to have the thyrogen injection but really do not want to have it. Any commnets would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn Don't have the answers for you, but just wanted to say; Welcome to my world! Like you I have been crud since my TT in 2007....Each time I lower or raise the dose of my thyroxine medication, I get worse...my Free T3 is low and gets lower all the time. I had some cortisol tests done in USA whilst on holiday there, but back home in Australia they just laughed and called them 'backyard labs' Hard to get any doctor to believe we need help! Let me know how you are going.
Avatar f tn I have just been to my gp, for review of my blood test, asked to be put on cytomel, he is not comfortable with that, increased my synthroid, suggest i see an endo, does anyone have any suggestions for dr.
Avatar n tn I quit taking the chiropractors supplements, but not for that long. I have constant ringing in the ears. This is the worst symptom I have had. It all started after taking hydrocortisone for my very low cortisol levels and Cytomel. Now the endo wants me to only take the Cytomel for my Reverse T3. The rining seemed to get worse. I really don't know what to do at this point. I felt like I had so much energy on hydrocortisone and I only took that for 1 week.
Avatar f tn The levels suggest that an increase in synthroid and a decrease in cytomel would be more physiologic. We usually use 5mcg in am and 5mcg at 2-3pm if we use cytomel. So in your case, would consider a change to 75mcg of synthroid and 5mcg 2x/day of cytomel -- this would be more physiologic for the body. If you take oral iron, it must be separated by 3-4 hours from any thyroid med to avoid absorption problems of the thyroid med.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know what the starch in Cytomel is made from? I called Pfizer but no one has called me back yet. I'm sensitive to corn and am trying to find out if it's corn starch.
